  • Here are some action figures from the 1980s, and one from the 1990s. Basically what it is is I'm still a kid at heart. These remind me of the "prime time", I call it. I like how toys used to be.

    ...I'm making a confession. I'm a toy designer (boys action) for a top 5 toy company and I watch your videos almost everyday, in particular, this one...over and over and over..haha. I feel the same way about 80s figure designs (also nostalgia for me) and it puts me in the mood to start my day and get excited about my next designs! thank you Crafts Man. you make my day everyday!

    Oh Boy! The Fisher -Price Action Men were a favorite. I had the motorcycle guy, but with bending knees and his motorcycle had a sidecar. And the ranger had a jeep and a pontoon boat. The pilot had a yellow plane and the plane could snap onto the ranger's pontoon boat so it was a float plane. And the diver had tanks and flippers and a submarine. Boy, that's a flashback!
    Thanks!

    Yay! I collect toys too - I think when you’re crafty/artsy you look at toys as being more than just a toy. The design the colors and the packaging it’s all so neat to look at and appreciate the design work

    • @TheCrafsMan
      @TheCrafsMan  6 лет назад +9

      That's a good way to look at it. I do indeed appreciate the designs and things. The old packaging in particular, I really like it. It was maybe simpler and sometimes more bold, with basic colors. Something about it. :)

    A friend of mine had a cool robot guy, the line was called PLOTTER. It was neat, they had vehicles and dinosaurs to ride on, spring loaded rocket launchers. I had a GI Joe growing up, he was Back-Stop with a Persuader Tank.
    Earthworm Jim is such a cool character, the first 2 games were awesome and the cartoon was hilarious!

    I had an affection for all my action figures. I let go of many of these things for a few years then developed a new appreciation for them. It's hard to define, but there is something powerful about action figures that breath a kind of life into them. To so many they are pieces of plastic. To us, they are alive in a creative way. Your collection is way better than mine, though.

    Just stumbling upon this...I had all but those metal dudes you showed near the end, still got most of em in a kodak bag. That last action figure before Earthworm Jimmy was the generic GI Joes, so you could use GI JOe back packs and all the other Joe stuff, but they couldn't swivel as much. We called them the Kmart Joes. Air Raiders and MUSCLES were the bomb, you could have a great Royal Rumble with the Muscles; my best friend and I made scaffolds around the room, winning Muscle got a rubber band belt. Too bad you didn't have any MASKS, you'd like those!

    Ooooooh Micronauts were my jam when I was a kid. We lived way out in the country and I only got to go to town every other month or so. I'd freak out until my folks took me to "Ben Franklin's 5 and dime" to spend my chore money. I only ever bought the Micronauts Time Traveler because it was clear and didn't really have much for detail. I had an army of them.

    @00:25 I had that lego kit. I remember it because the little kits were cheap enough I could get one every week and I wanted that one because of the bigger wheels and I could make cool cars cause most little kits only had the small tires also that articulating chassis joint was useful as well.

    I loved this video. I had a few of those figures featured here, and i had forgotten about some of them. Someday I hope to be able to craft my own! I’m going to start using your videos to learn soon. Should be awesome!

    I am fascinated by this one and others that show your love for toys. Your kids are so fortunate to have a father so funny and young at heart. I was born in ‘81 so i am guessing you’re around my parents age. You are so playful and still thoroughly enjoy pretending and appreciating the toys your kids played with! You remind me to stay young at heart and keep playing. Your videos really cheer me up and make me smile A LOT. Thanks so much for just being you and sharing your life with us.
