Not to get into his personal business, but I swear in other videos he said he was in his 40s in the 80s. The man just loves toys and it was something he was able to enjoy with his kids together!
I thoroughly enjoy your videos. I like your calm voice. Very soothing. Your crafting skills are amazing. I was a child in 1986 and that was a great Christmas.
I'm a personal fan of 1989 due to the short lived toy series 'Food Fighters' released by Mattel. They were sentient food soldiers; the good Kitchen Commandos and the evil Refrigerator Rejects. They were so creative with it, each character had their own little bios on the back of the packaging (not to mention the great artwork the packaging featured). Look it up if you have never seen them. :)
I had a ton of food fighters! The last time I saw them, they were at my grandma’s house in the bar next to the whiskey... I wonder what happened to them...
Craftsman, you know what would be cool? A biscuit recipe. Those biscuits that were featured in the "Things I like" video looked amazing! So I think it's finally time for you to share with us that recipe.
This is why I like every video you share with us CrafsMan. Always creative, always sorrounded by life and nature, always amaze of everything, Always learning and teaching, Always calm but with a Spark from the art. Please take care CrafsMan, here far far away from you, still show me life is something to appreciate. Happy holidays and have a great 2021 much love from here to you, your family and everyone
Your videos are so rewarding, educational and relaxing. You have an incredible artistic professional eye. The world is a better place with you in it. Thank you, Craftsman and happy 1986-2021.
This is my current favorite video. Something about the music, the show and tell, the chill way Crafsman talking. I watch it almost every day. Sometime I just put it on repeat until I fall asleep.
Man, I had more fun with those Stomper trucks than just about anything else. I even remember having one that came with a little rope-bridge that it could cross.
My brothers and I figured out how to use the AC power supply in an old digital alarm clock to hook 110v into Stompers with some blasting cap wire we borrowed from the barn. They'd run like a scalded dog for about 2 minutes... before they caught on fire...
OH SNAP! I'm a big fan of Micronauts. I vividly remember picking through Time Travelers on the store rack. We didn't have a lot of money when I was younger, so I KNOW they couldn't have been more than a few dollars then. I had several colors, and liked how they were translucent, and super articulated (even down to the little wrist). At some point they wound up missing the white plastic feet or the silver chestpiece and such. Imagine my surprise a few years ago when I got on eBay, hoping to buy some... and I saw the prices. LOL!
My son often says he’s nostalgic for the 80’s even though he wasn’t born until 13 years after it ended. Anemoia,: nostalgia for a time we didn’t experience, is real.
I just realized last week that The Crafsman is this generation’s Bob Ross. Other people have probably already mentioned this at this point but I’m new... He could read the phone book and I would still listen. Phone book... that tells you how old I am. And I graduated high school in 1986!!!
The 80's were a great time for toys. I was in High School, but my younger brothers collected a lot of the toys you showed. It brought back some fun memories for me :) Thank you!
Crafsman, have you heard of Snap Ships? It's a new toy from Play Monster, it's a lot like Legions of Power (might even be in the same scale in fact). No mechanical parts but the concept is similar, it's more like Glyos for vehicles.
You know, I grew up in the 80s Westberlin- favorite thing for me on weekends was waking up early and watch american forces network Tv and all those cool Toy commercials😊
Crafsman... Thank you. Things have been super rough and I've found almost nothing to smile at this year, with your videos being one of the few exceptions. I hope your holidays are as wonderful as you have been and that your new year tries to show you up on the amazing-ness. Thank you again.
If you like the small scale figures I recommend looking up the Air Warriors line. They had lots of great little guys. I could watch you talk about toys for hours. I came for the crafting, but I absolutely love the soft spoken toy discussion. Can't tell you how helpful your videos are getting to sleep. All right, love y'all, keep on steady craftin.
1986 I was 8 years old and really loved Centurions. The Centurians action figures had suit attachments that made them fly, go underwater, and ride on land. An amazing time to be a kid at Christmas time. Thank you CrafsMan for sharing.
I used to have some of these. I especially loved the magnetic ones. I used to stick them to my fridge. I’ve been trying to figure out their names for years. Thanks for this video and the nostalgia. A great year for toys. Awesome video.
This was great....I’m an 80’s kid and this brought back so many memories 🙂I hope you do more videos like this👍🏻Hope you and the family have a great Christmas and New Year.
Very nice! My favourite year for toys was ten years earlier; we had Action Man in the UK, who was like GI Joe I think - but fully articulated, about 8 inches tall, and you could get different uniform and weapons kits. My best friend had a German stormtrooper uniform with helmet, boots, belts and a luger pistol in a tiny holster. I was soo jealous...
Oh mannnnnn. Y'all had some very nice toys over there. In fact, I have some of the Action Man Action Force figures (the ones scaled like Star Wars or GI Joe). They're harder to see in my figure lineup, because they're sorta up on the very top row, in the shadows.
I was 10 years old in 1986...lots of great toys back then. I didn’t have many of the toys you mentioned, but I was familiar with all of them. Transformers were my jam! And, I have a soft spot for Robo Force. Thanks for everything you do, Crafsman!
I had a SpaceLink set! I completely forgot about the figures, I just had vague sense memories of the plastic spheres. I've always wondered what that build-a-moon-base toy was. Thank you so much for bringing up that nearly-buried memory!!!
That little Spacelink ship looks fantastic on it's own. Many thing passed me by in 1986 as I was really into GI Joe, but I did get a few Starcom sets. They were a lot of fun and i was so amazed at what they could do without needing any batteries! I had the Starmax Bomber and the Starwolf starfighter and I loved that you could either put it on the top or store it in the cargo area in the back. I remember pretending that the little pilot could hang out in the bigger ship while traveling and he could climb a ladder to his fighter and deploy for action. Today, I only have the Dash figure, but he's complete with his backpack and pistol. I had to get one as he was my favorite Starcom figure :)
Just so happen to be the year of me coming into existence! I grew up loving My Little Pony (G1), Trendmasters Starcastle, Littlest Pet Shop, Puppy and Kitty in my Pocket. Those were the days. :) These days I customize dolls and love me some steady craftin'.
Ooh I had all of these... except the Stomper toys. Thanks for taking me on a trip and telling me the names of those things. The starcom guys stayed on my fridge for years

3:42 reminds me what I used to love to play with as a kid in the late 90s was the micro machines sets that came with small figures. Army sets and deep sea sets lol
Was this a sneaky attempt to let Crafsmom know what you might want for Christmas? Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family, and thank you for having such a great channel!
i had some of those spacecom figurines.. and even if it is a long time ago, showing those rectangular magnets in the shoes gave me that "feel" the toys gave me when i was but a wee boy. just like the mugged on memory lane flash that came up when you showed the dino-riders package.
I was born in 88 and had a Starcom figure my whole life. Stuck him to everything. Never knew where he came from! And yeah he never had a visor as long as I can remember haha. Thank you for the lesson Crafsman.
In general the 80s was great time for toys. It was a very experimental time for toys and we got alot of great lines that are still continuing to this day. :D Do y'all have the apples with names painted on them? I'm curious if that was more of a regional thing, or if other people made those in school as well.
No apples here, but we did make those cookie shaped cinnamon ornaments. I never understood (as a kid) why anyone would make a cookie you couldn't eat 🤔 lol
Starcom was my jam. I wish I was more responsible as a kid though, since I didn't really take care of my toys back then and I think all I have left now is one of the figures.
Man... I think often about "HOW in the WORLD do I not still have my original (Micronauts/Visionaries/Starcom/Food Fighters/Insectaurs/Captain Power/Centurions) figures." :) Jeff, I guess we just didn't know back then, did we? LOL! :D

Not only were the figures cool, and the magnetic and mechanised features absolutely _ingenious_ (I loved the airlock on one of the bases that only opened when there was a figure on the magnetic platform), but I _particularly_ loved how the little vehicles could fold up into pod forms for storage and transport. That play pattern still inspires me today. I wish I still had those sets, but I think I lost them in a house move somewhere along the way... 😭 And the cartoon deserved way more recognition than it got. It was well-written, didn't talk down to kids at all, and the animation was _stunning._ By the by, at the beginning of the video, who's that little chonky translucent giraffe-dude with the square on his chest standing next to Triple Threat Snake? He looks like he _should_ be another Battle Beast, but I don't recognise the style... ...Merry Christmas, chief. o7
Wow! Now that was a blast from the past. My favourite toys from back then and to this day are the StarCom and Dino Riders. Also the Visionaries you've got kicking around are a nice bit of nostalgia. Thank you for what you do and happy holidays to you and yours!
In 1986, I was a HUGE fan of M.A.S.K. Watched everyday after school. I had a few MASK toys, those figures were somewhat smaller sized, too... but Christmas 1986 was my first set of ROBOTIX.
I recall taking apart the Empire Strikes Back mini vehicle tank (with the bubble canopy) and putting a Stomper in it so it drove....I was king of elementary school for a day or two.

The fact that even when the crafsman was the crafsboy his favorite toys were all about building and combining things makes so much sense.
He was CrafsKid!
I do not believe TheCrafsMan was ever a child. He has always just been TheCrafsMan, unchanging from the beginning of time.
Not to get into his personal business, but I swear in other videos he said he was in his 40s in the 80s. The man just loves toys and it was something he was able to enjoy with his kids together!
@@JasonP6339 I highly doubt he was 40 in the 80s.. since he also mentioned that he has young children... that would be irresponsible..
80’s had a different feel to it. I miss it.
As an illustrator, I love the toy illustrations from the 80s. There’s a unique charm to them.

I had a ton of food fighters! The last time I saw them, they were at my grandma’s house in the bar next to the whiskey... I wonder what happened to them...
I had a bunch of those as a kid. I still remember the artwork. They're worth a pretty penny now.
I don't remember them at all. Then again I was 24 in 1989 but a lot of these toys I don't remember even seeing.
I completely forgot about those!! Nice!
The Casio loop in the background for me 🙌🏾
