After watching Mayweather Sr. absorb this amount of punches in this video, I can now see why he's instilled it into Floyd to be so evasive with his boxing style today..

Omowàle Zaquir not really. The lighter divisions are always more explosive. The heavyweight division is a bit more dead though. The newer fighters have all developed more fundamental skill sets and its not as flamboyant as the old school fighters that paved the way. Nobody uses the cross guard or the peekaboo style anymore. Very few heavyweights move with their hands down. Its all more technical.

@@sbnqy SRL would never beat Jr fighting like this. He's a brawler who would 100% punch himself out while Jr would beat the breaks off him.
SRL had no defense. His style was to just come forward and swing with hooks. Jr would do his famous pivot dodges and would never be backed in the ropes. The shoulder roll on Jr is 10x better than his dads.
His dad was a very lateral fighter who did no pivots or dodges. His shoulder roll wasnt very good because of that fact.
The legends of today like Mayweather and Pacquiao would beat SRL because their styles and skill set is way too diverse, complex, and fast. SRL was a good come forward fighter of his time though.

It's a sad sight seeing the moment a fighter realizes he is outmatched and can't win. He knew it was over and there wasn't nothing else he could do but cover up and do his best to minimize the final moments of punishnent.

Am I the only one who think gloves were smaller during those days compared to Gloves using today? I mean look at the middleweights we have today they have much bigger gloves than any of these
