- As we in the US gather with friends and family for the Thanksgiving holiday, many of us will be giving thanks for the way of life we enjoy and for the bounty that we are given in this fine land.
I thought it prudent however, to point our that we as public land owners would be wise to also give thanks for our access to these lands. People of great vision fought tirelessly over the past 150 years to maintain these lands for the Benefit and Enjoyment of the People. Today, public access to the these great gifts is under threat. So as we give thanks, we must also commit to remaining vigilant in the defense of public access to our lands.
Thank you as always for tuning in, and as we enter the holiday season, I would like to wish each of you a Happy Thanksgiving from Park Junkie!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TODD! May you have a blessed day reuniting with your family and friends. Theodore Roosevelt started the first National Park, and now almost every country in the world has them as well. I don't know of many people but a few, like myself, if I'm visiting a place on our public lands, I always carry a trash bag with me. So if I see a soda or beer can, plastic bottles, or anything else that would be considered rubbish, I pick them up and put into trash bins when I find them.

Happy Thanksgiving Sir Todd. You have allies here. I will certainly stand with you on this. I am an RVer and travel to see the grand lands, National Parks-Monuments, etc. There are others that do likewise and have RUclips channels/web sites with lots of followers. Surely there is a way to band together. Document all this on your web site to give us, your followers a way to pass the info on to other influencers. Start a great wave of contacting congress.
Thank you Barrya, I am happy to hear this. We need to document it all, and just make sure the word spreads on this. We may enjoy the results of a "en banc rehearing" at some point in the future, as Price's attorneys filed a motion for such on Sept 15, so we'll see what comes of that. In the meantime, we just spread public awareness. I'd be interested in joining a group that wanted to stand together on this, so stay in touch & let me know if you have any ideas. Cheers

I swear I thought you lived on your bike and in tents and bedroll. So that's good news you have a place. You're right about everything you said about our public lands. Happy T-day back at you, Todd. As it happens some of my most memorable Thanksgivings were spent camping with friends and family in what is now the Mojave National Preserve. Like you, I'm very thankful for our heritage of the preservation of public lands and having access to them. I hold out hope that we have the wisdom and our voices are loud enough to keep the corporate interests at bay. Oh, I want to throw in my own John Muir quote here, where he talks about spending time in Glacier: "Give a month at least to this precious reserve. The time will not be taken from the sum of your life. Instead of shortening, it will indefinitely lengthen it and make you truly immortal. Nevermore will time seem short or long, and cares will never again fall heavily on you, but gently and kindly as gifts from heaven."
