If our taxes pay for these public lands then why do we need permission to use these lands, isn't our taxes doing that very thing for us?

They do need some kind of a reservation system - can you imagine Yellowstone in July without one? I was stuck for at least an hour behind a jackknifed 5th wheeler just trying to get into the Old Faithful parking lot. It's insane when to see a geologic feature you have to park a mile away... and this was back in 2013. What they should do is something like encouraging shoulder season travel if they really want to make a difference.

Get ‘em boy!!! Yesssir. Absolutely Booz Allen. Thank you for this seriously important content. Also thank you for, unlike so many other creators that have shared on this topic, for sticking up for our rights. This type of content is exactly what the DOI has been working hard in the courts to restrict. Bravo to you my friend #ourparks.

The moment I caught on to your program I realized that you were covering a very serious subject with me for many years. I am seventy years of age, a Cold War veteran with a humble Associate’s Degree, a strong steward of all within the earth, and now you came along and now I am an activist. That in itself is wickedly ace!

Excellent, excellent video, Park Junkie! I will contact my congressman and senators(Tennessee). I WILL share this concern. Thank you.
In regard to a commentor's statement that we shouldn't be paying fees. I don't agree. Campers pay fees to camp almost everywhere. Except on very remote public lands with little or no facilities. The parks are totally underfunded. All but maybe 10% to pay for running the registration system should go directly to the campgrounds. Then maybe they could afford water, electrical, and sewer at the sites. The current leach system is shameful. And if their are fees for trail access or back country camping, the fees should go to trail maintenance. All of this should be audited by non-governmental auditors.

Hi Park Junkie. Glad you came back out of Mexico unscathed and ready to press on. I'm glad you took the break to recharge. I remember the first one that you took down about this and this one is equally powerful and informative. So good on you Park Junkie for doing your part, because only you can prevent forest lockouts. P.S fix that word in the quote of the opening if it is truly broken. If it's okay I have a reading disorder then. ;-)

Do one on concessionaires that get mining concessions and no competition and don't support workers' rights, unemployment compensation or even have a credible human resources management and cattle feed for food, all while having a monopoly worth billion and no competition.

How does providers like Xanterra play into this? Seriously, $500/night in 2013 for one room to stay at a lodge in Yellowstone was a BIT excessive IMHO. $200-300, yeah - I can see that.

Time for an audit of the Dept of the Interior, specifically the NP system of vendor contracts (bid and non-bid), and the vendor officials ties to elected officials. This skulduggery has been in play since James Watt was Director of the Interior.

Boy, I'm sure glad I got to experience the national parks before rec dot gov became a thing. By the way, do I detect a bit of an X-Files "Smoking Man" vibe going on with Dark Junkie? 🙂. Speaking of being spied on, back when I worked for Pac Bell I was asked to work on a project to install a surveillance package for a national law enforcement agency that would tap into the telephone network. After seeing what they were going to do and thinking about the implications, I declined the "opportunity". Keep up the good fight!
