No regrets by any means. Love the versatility of the pickups.. Honestly, I plugged it straight into my Fender Champ Amp Kit that I built and I almost don’t even need an OD pedal! That bridge pickup is killer
Yes, this is truly an amazing guitar. The G5655 series has hit it out of the park. Phenomenal fit and finish. Exceptional tolerances. I see and hear no difference from my Penguin save the extra $3K. The Black’Tron pickups are so Gretsch. Billy Gibbons, George Harrison and Duane Eddy knew!
Well done. I always heard a lower guitar tone in the song that the higher one was interwoven. You took the high, and now I have a clearer structure of the lower one. Thank you!
No worries Henry. I sold one of my favorites to be able to turn it into two guitars. I've had Fenders, Gibsons, even a Rickenbacker. I knew what I was getting into, when I saw the damage both bodies had incurred. And was I pissed!!! What I bought knowing how great my two new axes would be. I wasn't able to grab what I really wanted. In the end, I found two of the same brand. One a Squier Strat Contemporary, and a Tele. When I finally quit beating myself up, I strapped the Tele on first. OMG!!!! THE best playing guitar, I've ever bought! Sounds like heaven, keepin the folks up past ELEVEN!!
Want to give a shout out to Alex and Justin of Gretsch's Company Customer Service Team in Scottsdale, Az. You guy's helped me out a lot on that Gretsch G5435T w/Bigsby. Had to drive all the way up to Hollywood, CA to check it out from the guy who was selling it. But it checked out great and it was the first series of the first year (By the serial #) that Gretsch made of that model. So thanks again for helping me out.
I have the streamliner center block jr and I love it! I'm so glad Gretsch has released more affordable guitars. One request though, how about a streamliner or electromatic bass? I'd be all over that!
@@ZillianZilch Guitar by default wants to sit level on your shoulders Which is crazy for a guitar that weighs a little over 6.5 pounds! The body is extremely light. If you play with the neck high it wants to fall a little to where the guitar lays more flat. It does not want to fall past that point though. At least not on me but I have very broad shoulders.
I’ve heard some people say the 5655 was poorly made compared to previous models despite being more expensive is this true? Or do you think they might of been snobs
@@tweets9349 People are gonna say what they are gonna say to justify paying a higher or lower price for their guitars. I am enjoying my Guitar! I always make changes to my guitars to make them exactly what I want. On my 5655 I have upgraded to TV Jones Classic and PowerTron Plus pickups and Locking tuners for tremolo stability. So far I am very pleased with my guitar.
Reissuing the 6120JR in a Electromatic format was one GREATEST THING from Gretsch, and the day you want to upgrade, you only need to swap the PUs for TV-Jones Classic, and for about 300$ (give or take) you have it. I have a 2002 Gretsch 6120 JR2 and it's a great Gretsch with a way much more comfortable body than the 6120, and still that typical sound from the 6120. I'd strongly recommend to choose the CHROME instead of GOLD, mine is GOLD and it doesn't age well ... until you finally have enough and "wipe" the Gold parts with "professional silver cleaning compound" and it all becomes Chrome and shiny again.
I would swear I've seen the green version of this guitar in the upcoming "Guilty Gear" video game. It's wielded by a character named I-NO. She rocks it!
I got this guitar, it is lovely beautiful and has great tone, I use it with the boss blues pedal and get some nice juice out of it. The bigsby is very difficult or nearly impossible to use without getting the guitar out of tune though, I would prefer it did not have it if I cannot use it...
I wish they'd do a hard-tail filtertron. Although I also wish the surf green 5230 was available on the higher end models. Too many black guitars in the range. Lastly can we have thumbnail fret markers on non-bigsby guitars?
Electromatics are good guitars. Not as great as the Japanese ones, but you get most of the Gretsch vibe and sound for a fraction of the cost. They hook you with them, and many of us go on to buy the expensive ones. If you buy one Gretsch, there is a good chance that you will end up buying more. They're rad guitars.

This a suggestion for Gretsch: Why don't you do a video on Martin Gore of Depeche Mode fame? Depeche Mode remains one of most popular bands of all time worldwide. To my knowledge, Martin plays Gretsch guitars exclusively. Don't you think he deserves a shout out?
He's been known to play the occasional Gibson and Fender on a few songs, especially live, but I personally conceive him as a big Gretsch endorser, and I'd venture to say that what has become known as the Depeche Mode guitar sound is mostly a Gretsch sound. I know I personally learned about Gretsch guitars and got my electromatic because I saw what Martin was doing with his guitars in DM. I'd love to see some kind of collaboration between him and the company!
I am looking for a source of information regarding the adjustment of the Anchored Adjusto-Matic™ bridge. The thumb wheels on mine are down to the guitar body and I want to try to lower the strings. I assume I need to adjust the allen screws into the body further. I looked for hours for a video showing this exact thing but they all have a slothead screw, not a key like my 5655T. What size allen key is it? My guess is 1/16. Is that how I lower the strings?
Ola Juan, now that’s what I’m talkin about ... great guitar and sounds from an axeman who creates the sounds that makes these guitars awesome... gotta get one ☝️
Delay and reverb...if I wanted this tone, I’d set up the tape echo on my Big Sky orrrr some analog delay (like a memory man style) and some plate or hall reverb.
Hi! Just want to ask what gig bag is best for this Gretsch? I’m plannin on buying this model but can’t find a gig bag? Does mono or reunion blues semi hollow bags fit? Thanks.
I don't know why but I'm on the fence between the 5655T in jade grey and a Solar Guitars T1.6 d model with a natural finish and evertune bridge...I leaning towards the Gretsch tbh....it looks beautiful and I think it's more versatile in the long run. Can anyone relate and give their 5cts? Also, I'm not sure about the fretboard. Is it a big deal to get to used to, the dots are on the neck, aren't they? Also, does the Gretsch have a rounded palm area at the bottom of the neck for higher notes.? THX
Could someone measure the fret hieght for me? Medium jumbo dosent tell me enough.... Like the Actual hieght. Hold down 1st & 2nd fret and slide feeler gauges under the string. [That way the string being held down at 1st & 2nd fret gives the fret hieght] Or use a dime. A dime is .050 If you can't get the dime under the string I know the frets are shorter than .050 Thanks
Videos en español. Quiero comprarme una gretsch pero no encuentro contenido en español para decidirme por una. Hay mucho mercado en Latinoamérica para estas guitarras tan hermosas pero poca información...
Honestly, put some in some real Filtertrons, a real bigsby, roller bridge, and locking tuners... you've got something pretty much every bit as good as the Japanese Gretschs'.
The biggest difference I've noticed with Electromatic and Japanese Gretsch guitars is the arch top. They are thinner and WAY more resonant in the Japanese models. That is really what gives the Gretsch tone. You can get pretty close with upgrades, but when you think of a that Gretsch sweetness in their top of the line models, it's really to do with the body construction. The ebony boards are also extremely buttery on those Japan models. But I agree, that it's still a sweet guitar, especially with proper upgrades and you can get pretty close to the real deal.
I love mine. Its gold and plays great. I would love it if Gretch would stop referring to their sub-thousand dollar models as Junior models. It sounds like some $200 guitar that you give to your kid. It also sounds disrespectful to people that are paying $900 for a "junior" model instead of a "player" model. So, are the JR models not for guitar players?
The 'Jr' is related to the size. It's a smaller body size than their other semi-hollow guitars. This guitar is the cheaper version of the Broadkaster Jr from the Pro line.
Beautiful Gretsch guitars , with a fantastic Sound ! But Gretsch, please look at the China Store ! Because no fingers in the Paint from a little Chinese ! This is not good for the Business In Europe . Thanks a Friend.

Gretsch: you really don’t have to make that demo anything special

Hands down, one of the best guitar demos. It really shows off what this guitar does well.

Remember the videos can/are edited to perfect videosound - dont be fooled. But Nice looking guitar and playing 👍
It IS a helluva sound, I would never had expected a Gretsch.

The jam on this is incredibly inspiring. Nice chord progression and such dreamy tones.
