He's one of the younger generation who gets film music. It really shows in Westworld, especially how he incorporates detuned pianos into this western theme. Even the post-credit Warner Bros theme is done that way, and in season 2 after the Shogun World episode the tune is played by some Eastern instrument. Such a tiny detail that most people don't even get to hear, but it's those details that make him a really cool composer.

@@DNotzz It's great when Djawadi uses variations of his character themes in unexpected moments like that. My personal favorite bit is Cersei's theme (Light of the Seven) playing when Bronn uses her and Qyburn's weapon against Drogon. We would/will probably never hear a "battle" variation of her theme, but we did because he connected that particular scene to Cersei because her plan was put to use... Yeah the PoI soundtrack is how I found about Djawadi. Never heard a film/TV show soundtrack before that seemed to connect so much with the story and like Kevin Cooper says, can actually give you chills, the string parts in particular sound so mysterious yet uplifting, like a psychadelic trip. I knew of Hans Zimmer before, I guess most people with any interest whatsoever in film or audio would know who he is, but I'd never looked up other composers, after PoI I looked up who scored it and saw that Ramin Djawadi was also doing Game of Thrones which shows how successful he is, that must be one of the premier gigs in the industry. PoI has awesome song choice as well as its original score - as soon as I heard Massive Attack in the pilot episode I knew I would be in for a ride, with the story, visuals and the soundtrack. Also just want to say that whilst there is good and bad to living in an age where media is consumed so vociferously, I do love that it allows true artists to do what they do and reach a huge audience. Film, TV show and even game soundtracks are pieces of artistic work in their own right with loads of time, effort and talent going into producing them and it's fantastic that they are released as such as official soundtrack albums on streaming platforms like Spotify and on CD. Trust Ramin Djawadi to take things even further with a whole live concert experience - I didn't get to see it unfortunately but it was clearly a huge success.

GoT S08E03 had so much West World influence in it. It was perfect; those 10 minutes starting with Piano were the best.

Ramin's music in GoT really made me realize how much the music can really tell the story. So many great moments in the show framed moments in a way that could not be done by lighting, camera work, dialog, costumes or anything else. The music tells the story just as much as everything else combined.
It's just sad the story writing wasn't half as good as the music. If it were, GoT would have had an epic ending that would not have been forgotten so quickly.

The intensity of Game of Thrones simply wouldn't be the same without the great scores. Every season and major character having their own scores is not exclusive to Game of Thrones, but it might very well be the only TV show where each of the scores are memorable and can be enjoyed outside of the context of the TV Show. Simply genius composer.

imho what makes opening/closing credits music themes amazing is that even after 10 seasons, you still enjoy listening to them ! Now I'd love composers give a little more credit to their muse, that'd be so fair !

I've thought about developing a love theme for that episode. It also started off with a dark ambient sounding piano but culminated to a 70's groove bow chicka bow wow as Jon enters Daenerys' chamber.
