- The families of victims of the Sandy Hook shooting have unanimously denied Alex Jones’ settlement offer in the defamation lawsuit filed against Jones for his role in spreading lies about the incident. "Thirteen parents of children who died in the 2012 Sandy Hook mass shooting have rejected a settlement offer and vague apology from InfoWars kingpin Alex Jones, according to court records. Jones offered to give each plaintiff $120,000, which the families unanimously rejected; in court filings, they said the offer was “a transparent and desperate attempt by Alex Jones to escape a public reckoning under oath with his deceitful, profit-driven campaign against the plaintiffs and the memory of their loved ones lost at Sandy Hook.”
The families sued Jones in a Connecticut court in 2018 for repeatedly claiming on air that the shooting was a “giant hoax” to advance a gun control agenda; they won a default judgment against him in November. Sandy Hook families in a separate case against Jones in Texas also won a default judgment against him in October. In both cases, the plaintiffs argued that he and the company that owns InfoWars, Free Speech Systems LLC, had failed to respond to basic discovery requests, with what Connecticut Superior Court Judge Barabara Bellis called a “callous disregard of their obligation” to turn over required documents, including financial records. (Jones’ lawyer Norm Pattis argued in a legal filing that the company did try to turn over financial records, but that his deplatforming from various social media sites made it difficult to get some of the analytics data that was requested. Jones has also stated he no longer believes Sandy Hook was a hoax.) Trials to determine damages in both cases are scheduled for later this year."

I live only a few miles away from Sandy Hook. Describing anything related to this tragedy is understated. For this day it's still inconceivable the pain that these parents have to deal with the fact alone, having lose their kids.

Here in Scotland we had a school shooting on the 13th of March 1996 at Dunblane, we collectively as a nation shared the grief of the many children killed and injured, we saw it as a national tragedy, our government took action immediately against most gun owners by banning many types of guns, no protests, we just accepted it, the children will never be forgotten, we never ever will change our minds regarding guns, it is permanent.
I sooo remember this at The Dunblane Elementary School.Just horrible 😢My prayers to all the parents, school staff.Never will forget about all the beautiful wee ones who were taken too soon

I wouldn't settle either. It's not about the money. It's about the accountability and making an example out if him so it never happens again. My heart absolutely breaks for those parents.

I worked with a young man who lost his Aunt in that shooting. It was very, very real. Alex Jones should be held responsible to the fullest extent of the law. Nothing is more painful than parents losing their children. What he did and continue to do is beyond disgusting!
If I had nothing left to lose after losing my child, Alex Jones would not be breathing.

I think the current common sense precedents limiting free speech are sufficient. AJ could've avoided this if he didnt constantly and wantonly attack sandy hook victims. Had he only mentioned that incident among many as examples of false flag incidents, the families wouldve likely never been so ill affected, and never had damages over which they could sue him. People have the right to speak on and publish conspiracy theories. I think AJ is a fkn donut, but generally, what he says is and should be protected speech.

Someone who spreads a conspiracy, which caused pains and suffering to others is not something that you can just offer money, and expect it will go away. Children died. I normally do not do a “that’s what you get” when someone gets caught in their own mess, but this piece of feces deserves everything he gets. The only thing that I wish could happen is that every idiot that harassed any of those families could have to face some type of consequences just because they were such idiots and their actions caused so much additional pain they’ve had to be endure because of these ridiculous people. It sounds like Alex can afford several million dollars per family of each victim! Besides a heartfelt apology to the surviving families, one by one after hearing about each victim, Alex should also be forced to retract his statements nationally and spend a few dozen months of community service in Connecticut for school safety and for gun control.
The Judge should order Jones to read a statement saying he was wrong and naming each of the kids killed.
Jones should have to read it every time he does a podcast , both his and any he appears on as a guest.

Alex Jones should be VERY GREATFUL that all of the parents involved have so much self control, If it were me I would have lost my cool and attacked him long ago. I hope that they are able to put his entire company out of business and I hope he spends the rest of his life trying to make amends for the hurt he caused.

Only way people like him understand is to give them consequences, and if that means bankrupting them, then maybe they end up living in the streets, would be a good thing.
Granted, $50,000 penalty a day is a pretty steep price to pay but perhaps not when you're products account for more than $150 million in sales. A far more fitting punishment is for the County Sheriff to arrive at your door and haul your butt into jail. That's where he should be serving his penance for refusing to provide the necessary documents and for not showing up to his court appearances. He might move with a little more alacrity with some real world consequences!
