My cat will yell at you when she thinks it's time for her to get her butt re-shaved. We got our vet to show us how to do it safely, how to make sure we didnt nick her or anything, and we just got an electric trimmer for her specifically.
She gets up on the bathroom counter and raises hell until you come tend to her. Girl does not like cleaning clingers off herself and she has learned that being shaved means no poo butt, so she makes sure you know when she's not happy about the state of her rear end.

Having once had to pull "dingleberries" off a lamb's woolly rear end (poo-berries in sheep wool is a recipe for frustration!), I definitely can't say I blame your cat for not wanting to deal with poo in her fur.
And honestly, I congratulate her for working out the whole thing: "Shaved butt > licking poo out of fur." Very intelligent cat indeed! 😁😁👏👏

@@christopherkidwell9817let’s remove some of your fingers then. Ignorance leading to cruelty is horrifying. They literally remove the cat’s thumb, and it’s very stressful for them to totally lose their claws. A ton of places are starting to outlaw it as animal cruelty because they take off the knuckles as the claws are fused to it on top of amputating the thumb entirely. It has a huge host of physical complications. This isn’t a “oh it’s just an opinion” situation.

      @aralornwolf3140 7 месяцев назад +15

I've only had 2 declawed cats... one was a stray... and the other was from a friend. I'm not sure how my friend's cat became decalwed.
The first cat, Shadow... was a nice loving, affectionate cat that was extremely domineering, pissed on the floor when he was pissed, and had an eating disorder which caused him to vomit up his food quite frequently. I think it was the combination of the pissing and the vomiting which caused his "owners" to abandon him in the country side. Oh! And a part of his domineering side also involved dropping breakable things (glass, porcelain etc.) on our heads when we decided to sleep in past his "wake up" time.
My friend's cat on the other hand... she's such a laid back cat. She sleeps all day so she has the energy to sleep all night. Unfortunately, she has started to rapidly lose weight and the cause is so far unknown.. it might be she's just not eating enough though.

This has nothing to do with this video, but I just wanted to thank you for all the little tidbits of information you teach us about cats and dogs in your videos. I learned from one of your videos that panting for cats can be really dangerous and was able to recognize that as an emergency when my cat started panting and rushed him to the vet last Thursday. Unfortunately, he didn’t make it. He had an autoimmune disease/cancer (we never got the chance to confirm either) and he had been deteriorating for several days. But by recognizing the panting as a bad sign, I was able to get him to the vet and euthanize him, rather than him dying of suffocation in the middle of the night. I was able to end his pain and he knew nothing but love in the end. I was able to be by his side as he passed and I will forever be grateful to you for the valuable information you provide, otherwise that might not have been the case. Thank you so much for all you do. ❤💜

I had a rescued kitten , who I named bean cuz he was so tiny, who grew to be a huge beast, but was so gentle and kind and loved baths so much I had to change my entire bathroom routine around him cuz he'd hop into the bathtub full of water whether I planned for him or not. He wasn't short hair, but he wasn't long hair like the cat in this video; kinda in between. If he got caught in the rain, the surface would be wet, but his undercoat was still dry. He had his own towel, and would walk around like it was a robe. He loved getting blow dried as well.
After Bean got his full size, one of my friends suggested he might be a Van or Van mix. I had kept the idea to myself but I was glad someone else noticed. He was a well behaved animal, he learned so easily, learned a lot of tricks and good behaviors that made him an easy housemate, he could walk on a leash, he would Heel, sit, stay, wait, release ( for wait and for taking his food bowl) and he came up with a few tricks of his own, including high five and "be cute". He got along with everyone, including dogs and he greeted every one of our guests on Game Nights. He loved cucumbers and insisted you share if you had one. He was such a good boy.

    What a gorgeous boi! ❤
Years ago, I rescued a Turkish Angora from a shelter. They were so crowded that she hadn't even had a bath and she had fleas and grease on her from hiding under cars after she'd been unceremoniously dumped outside after her previous owner's family cleaned out the place she'd been living. Her owner had either passed away or been moved to a facility that didn't allow pets. (The shelter wasn't sure.)
The first thing we did immediately upon coming into our house was to plop her into the kitchen sink for a bath. Imagine my surprise when this cat made absolutely no effort whatsoever to escape from me and actually seemed to enjoy her bath. She surprised me even more by flopping over onto her back in my lap when the blow drier came out and raising her front legs so we could dry her armpits and belly fur first! She lived to be about 17 years old and was one of the sweetest cats I've had so far. 😊

I taught one of my cats to stand on his hind legs entirely on accident. He does it just because he loves the attention.
One day, I accidentally used the cue with my oldest cat. I didn’t think she would respond, but she did her very best to mimic the trick, even though she was only able to make it about halfway because of her arthritis. She learned the trick just by watching me do it with another cat!

I rescued and re-homed over 20 cats (and over 80 dogs); I discovered that every single one of them could learn tricks. I experimented with my own 6 cats--yep, they all learned tricks just as easily as dogs did. I experimented with many of my partner-in-crime's cats and fosters, who ran the cat side of the rescue program and the same thing: they all learned tricks easily. I don't think I ever met a Turkish Van. Most of the cats I've dealt with were domestic shorthairs of unknown breeding. I have no idea why people think cats can't learn because they're just as easy to teach as dogs albeit a little different to teach.

I taught our cat Oliver to sit and wait for the food to be put in his bowl (definitely a trick, because as soon as he saw the food bag come out he'd stick his head in his dish). I also taught him to high five, to jump on my shoulder (his favourite riding place), and to wind in and out of my legs as I walked. He already came when he was called.

@@parkerbrown-nesbit1747 Oliver sounds cute as a button! I started teaching the foster cats tricks because there's nothing like a cat that knows a few tricks to really stand out in ads (this started before the internet became a common thing). People just couldn't resist calling to ask about a cat that could retrieve or play soccer or salute the queen or what have you. I also taught them behaviours that made them easier to groom and made common veterinary treatment easier, in order to make the cat's life easier.

I know most kitties just refuse to eat treats when stressed. But this might help those that hesitate about the tube itself.

Vanessa, have ever groomed or seen an Anatolian cat? They are a cousin to the Turkish Van cat. My husbansand had one and we named him Oliver. We had him since he was a month old (a rescue from coyotes), until we had to put him down at over 10 years old. He developed a cancerous tumor on his lung and it spread quickly. Anatolians look just like Turkish Vans but with a thick medium coat and a thick rope-like rail. Their colors/markings are like their cousins and come in a variety of colors with the rest of their bodies being entirely white. They are highly intelligent and very trainable as well. ❤

She comes running when she hears a faucet to fist-fight (bat at with her paws before putting her head under) and being sprayed with water has never worked as a deterrent for her 🙄. They're common in environments with distinct selection pressures on domesticated animals, but no selective breeding by the humans. Islanders didn't breed for seaweed-eating sheep, but the trait helped the sheep survive on the tiny, rocky islands where humans had brought them. I've heard them called a landrace (although that might be just a sheep thing, I was learning to spin at the time.)
