Changing a four prong dryer cord to a three prong dryer cord is not difficult this is an easy how to wire a four wire cord video.
If you lost any of the screws the terminal block will not receive the other screws without stripping out. I have included a video on how to go to Lowe’s and buy the terminal block screws in case you have a lost one or your dryer did not come with the right ones.

I did it! It wasn't as easy as it could have been but only because the colored wires on the new cord weren't very long. I realized I should have cut part of the black covering off to make it easier!
I have the same question as a few others. The internal grounding wire on my dryer is green and yellow, not white. So do I still put that internal wire with the white wire? Or do you put both green wires under the green screw?

It really pisses me off because everyone doesn’t have the white wire. Some dryers have the green & yellow wire . But no videos on that one. Unless and very confusing.
I had to change out my three prong to a four prong in a new house, all the wires are set up in the same exact way in this video, but when I'd plug it in it wouldn't start. Towards the ending of your video, you mentioned that the breaker could be off. I checked the break, and it was off then I flipped it on now it starts.

I am a single mom and I didn't want to pay someone to switch out the cords for me. I thought was going to be very simple and the it all switched on me when I went from 3 to four prongs.🤯🤯. So I am very appreciative of this video
Hey so I'm trying to go from a 3 to a 4 prong, but the wire off my dryer has a all green wire tied into where youbhave your ground. Should I just color match all the wires and put the green off the 4 prong into the same spot as the green coming off the dryer?

In the video above, your side had a white wire that you placed together with the other white wire in the middle. The wire on the side of mine is green with a yellow strip. Do I connect that to the green wire with the new green wire or the white wire like you did in the video even though it's green on my machine.

I don’t have a white wire to combine with the white plug wire like you. The wire on my dryer is green. Do I combine that with the white wire on my cord?

If you don’t feel confident just watch a few more videos until you find one with your exact machine. There’s also some great Facebook groups on how to fix appliances that I’m sure can walk you step-by-step through it.
I made a fork/channel with a cardboard. then I wanted a permanent solution. I used a piece of sheet metal that not only guided the sceews/bolts but it also stopped the screws from falling to the ground as I had made a lip on the bottom edge, the two sides and even the top four fingers. No more misery and struggle period. It won't take much to make something like this.
Also if the cover is missing. I just take my sheet metal scissor and make a cover, just like that.

You can probably get the cheapest on eBay. Just type in terminal block kenmore dryer and find one that looks just like the one you have. They only make a few different types.
The nut on the dryer that is held on by wire with small tab on th 220 hook up behind block is falling out. the tab that holds it in dryer is broken off. Do you have any tricks without splicing on a new wire end?
Sorry I’m not sure I have a trick to fix that. You may just have to replace it. It’s surprising how many parching fine for a decent price on eBay used. That’s usually my go to move when something critical is missing on a machine.
I seem to have the opposite problem from all videos I’ve seen. My old dryer died and I bought a new one that has a 4 prong cord. My problem is that my house was built in 1995 and has only 3 wires for the outlet receptacle. How (what) can I do to solve this issue. How do I install a 4 prong outlet having only 3 wires in the house. I’m also having a problem finding a outlet with the same makeup as my cord attached to the dryer. All outlets I’ve seen the little stem on the of the plug bottom turns left at it’s top but on my cord it turns to the right at its top. Can you offer some suggestions?
You need to change the dryer cord not the outlet. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and they will sell you the cord and tell you how to install it. Bring a picture of your outlet so you can be assured the cord (plug) will work.
All dryer's and range's from the factory are wired for 3 wire. Instruction are inside for a 4 wire. The easiest way to know if you have 3 wire or 4 wire is just inspect the cord on your already owned drier or range. If you have a 4 wire and you connect it like 3 wire then you are grounding one leg of the 220. This means you do not get enough electricity to operate your appliance correctly. If you do not under stand how to do this then please contract a professional. Also please make sure to keep your range and drier CLEAN. You would not believe how many fires I went to that was because of a drier or range. Work time blessed days Turbo
