Do you remember any of these ?
Do you remember a series that was on Mtv at the same time called The Brothers Grunt? I don't remember all that much, but it was pretty weird. Made by Danny Antonucci who later created Ed, Edd n Eddy.
The Head was awesome!
"Gork was a punk ass!"
I have a marsupilami vhs from it's very short run! I didn't realize it didn't last long, so it's odd they actually released cassettes of the series
Several of them yes.
I remember "Problem Child", especially because they got Gilbert Gottfried to reprise his role as Mr. Peabody. I knew "Free Willy" and "Beethoven" existed, but never actually watched those cartoons.
"Conan The adventurer" was not a failure; "Conan and the young warriors" was a fail.
Yeah, he literally said that in the video.
Great cartoon
A fun fact about the Battletech series: It's canonically been folded into the greater BT Universe as a thing that happened, in Battletech itself. In lore, it was a propaganda cartoon made to drum up support for the FedCom-Kurita alliance's campaign to dislodge the Clans from Rasalhague Republic space and push them out of the Inner Sphere. The actual, in-universe Adam Steiner thought it was stupid, but he conceded it was at least worth it because the toy line raised a lot of war funds.
Now THAT'S how you do canon.
The cartoon even got shown in Clan Space. Especially by those clans who didn't like Clan Jade Falcon.
It did a number on the reputation of the in-universe Nicolai Malthus, though.
That is awesome
That may be the most insane instance of something being canon that I've ever heard.
I hope someone takes a 2nd crack at Battletech and includes a reference to the Clan kids show "Clan Spaniel"
Another great detail is that Nicholai Malthus tried to sue the showrunners over his portrayal on the show, and when the judge threw the case away, Nicholai tried to Batchal him.
Little kid me would've loved skeleton warriors. They look like they just stepped out of an iron maiden album cover
It would have worked better if it was PG-13 and not in a "Kid"s time slot I think. I saw it and went "O-o'" It just... felt like something that was too dark for kids TV.
This one has the skeleton waifu.
Great, Now how you're suppossed to smash her?!.
What if an Iron Mauden album cover was He-Man and the masters of the universe was it's theme.
Dude skeleton warriors was badass back in the day. He used to come on after pirates of dark water
One of the action figures has been immortalized in the movie Indian in the cupboard.
I remember seeing Marsupilami stuff on TV, likes the character design but I don’t think I ever watched a single episode!
Check out the original comic character design
Did watch. Recall is absolutely zero. I don't remember a thing about the show's world or events.
@@Babbleplay Animal or person hunts him, he tricks them or the gorilla beats them, rinse and repeat
I thought he was bonkers I was super confused
Nobody watched it.
Skeleton Warriors looks metal af.
It was.
The toys were awesome
It was stylized as 80s Japanese anime. Watched it as a kid and it was awesome and found the entire series on a DVD at the library and it was actually still awesome to watch as an adult. Would suggest
Skeleton Warriors was actually vastly better then it ever had any right to be. Anyone who can watch the show should do it
That was a fun show
Kinda sad how a lot of these didn’t gain much success due to factors like bad timeslots. Under different circumstances, I can see a lot of these series doing very well.
Definitely
I've always viewed the 8:00 am and the 11:30 am timeslot as the death slot. Well for kids WB anyway. Those slots always seemed to have shows that they didn't have too much faith in or their season was about to be up and they were ready to move on. There was only one show that survived the 11:30 am slot without being kicked off the block and that was Yu-gi-Oh.
@@TheReviewStudios Skeleton warriors had a neat concept, but... just... a concept many people would see as gross. A lot of the others were just too silly, and nonsensical... then you have one that's just a bit... boring (Battletech).
@@Toonamp were you in central time cause it was 7am on the east coast which why was freakazoid failed only pokemon and yugioh would wake me up.that early and even then it was rough.
Power rangers was too dominant in the UK in terms of air time and merchandise
Fun fact about the Battletech cartoon. They wrote it into cannon as an in-universe propaganda cartoon aired to the Inner Sphere during the Clan Invasion. So while the events of the cartoon aren't cannon, the cartoon itself is.
I didn't know that! And I'm now so, so happy I do. That's awesome!
Some events were canon, but they said exggerated.
The jade falcon guy turned out canonical was a giant man child, the woman who was his protégé loved the rep she got from the show. The dragonconise guy ended up ascending to the throne, etc.
@@trapsaltnburn In universe the main antagonist of the show Nicolai Malthus tried to sue the producers of the show for defamation
Battletech was a good show reminded me of exo squad as the heros didn't always win at the end of each episode. I had the axeman suit it was a fun toy.
@otakuryoga
huh.. that must have come way later
all i remember at the time was every BT fan hating it for the way the Falcons just ignored Clan Warfare Rules so much and the big retcons they had to do about how there was suddenly always a 2nd planet that had been freed from the clans behind the Tukayyid line
Mtv The Head is a work of art 🎨. 😀👍
It sure is!
It does like Beavis and Butthead.
The Head would have gotten a lot less viewers if it wasn't on MTV.
I love that series Roy was favorite character I used to watch that series along with the maxx
100% loved the show as a kid
I loved the 1990s toons either it has darker images even adult innuendos written by the best writers. I missed my original childhood cartoons but rewatching them should be a real treat. Much better of some bad cartoons if they examine the old cartoons we grow up with. Great vid, man. 😊
Exo squad was great
I'm glad Duck Man lasted a little longer than these shows and Duck Man also debuted in 1994!
Duckman is the animated version of Married with Chilldren
Finally woke up in time to catch the final episode of Sonic SatAM and instead it was Free Willy.
I'm STILL upset SatAM ended on a fucking cliffhanger dude, there's some folks called Team S3ason here working on a third season and it looks promising, but still gonna be a while I'm sure. I'm in the discord.
I'm so sorry.
I remember being impressed by the Skeleton Warriors figures when a kid brought them in to school. Unfortunately, I read that they only released the villian action figures which made it harder to sell without any heroes in the toyline.
That was a very stupid move on the company's part. How can the kids have epic battles if they only have one side of the battle?
@@cooperminion825 They thought the gimmick of the titular characters would be enough to fly off shelves. Problem is those weren't the characters kids were rooting for
@@Scallywag96 ikr. Plus, the villains were probably the most expensive to make since they were literal skeletons. So they really lost a bunch of money with those toys
They made the three men on the team but never made a Talyn figure
The villains were the coolest looking though.
Monster Force was awesome. Truly a forgotten cartoon gem.
It reminded me of The Drac Pack from the 1980s
I definitely remember Marsupilami just from the character design alone. And I also remember the Skeleton Warriors intro but I never really watched either show as a kid. But they both have such strong design those little memories stuck with me.
Definitely
I liked this cartoon, for me, Marsupilami was very fun.
Disney's Marsupilami was a bad adaptation anyway...
The only thing I know about Skeleton Warriors was that there was a Sega Saturn game developed by Neversoft, makers of Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero games.
they had toys too. But the IP owner buried it for reasons I suspect were Ted Turner's decision.
@@marhawkman303 sounds like something Turner would do
I have the Skeleton Warriors on complete dvd set and I think I even have one of the action figures as well. Never saw the Conan and the kids show but I did love the Conan Adventurer show. What a fun show that was.
Awesome
The Disney Marsupilami being set in Africa was a HUGE pet peeve of mine as a fan of the character, and also how cowardly he was when the actual Marsupilami is an absolute beasts who beats up jaguar, eats piranhas for lunch and will beat up humans with ease. In 2000 the French made their own animated adaptation which restored the rest of the Marsupilami's lore, including the setting and the Marsupilami's more animal nature (he doesn't talk for exemple), his mate and their kids, and the villainous hunter Bring M'Backalive. Most of it inspired by the Marsupilami solo adventure comics (Marsupilami first appeared in 1952 in a Spirou & Fantasio story). That version lasted 5 season and 130 episodes. There is also a live action movie that was released in 2012, one of the biggest hit of French cinema.
Oh yeah. Marsupilami is dynamite. My grandparents had a bunch of the old comics, and I remember how the little guy would get mad and wreck shit. Wrapped his tail into a ball and swung it around like a fist.
I remember Marsupilami, both the Disney version and the French animated series that one is popular in Europe. The original creators weren’t happy with Disney’s Marsupilami, that they sued Disney from producing and distributing anymore episodes. And it’s why Marsupilami and Raw Toonage aren’t available on streaming services.
Riiiiiight
@@Ani8900 go look it up, Disney can’t legally release those cartoons!
@@Ani8900 "As of 2002, this program is no longer shown following a lawsuit filed against Disney for the breach of contract with use of the character Marsupilami in 1997 as the rights were handed back to Marsu Productions few years later." lol I wasn't sure, either
@@Morboeatspeople due to the fact that there is a way to see the Disney version, certain sides, and Disney+ scenes to show a little bit of it… I think
As a child, I was lucky to see the entire Skeleton Warriors series, thanks to VHS tapes with good dubbing. I don't know who could not fall in love with this series after the intro starts. 🤩
I am familiar with Marsupilami, Beethoven, Problem Child, and The Head. The rest, I've never heard of, but that Monster Force does indeed sound interesting, and looks like the first 9 of the 13 are on RUclips. Totally got to check them out. Thank you so much for this, did enjoy it.
Thanks for sharing and, you're very welcome
I remember all of these but The Head was ahead of its time!
For sure
pun intended?
Definitely was
The Head was a fantastic show. Well worth watching
Skeleton warriors looked promising and it should've never gotten canceled as it looked as though it couldve lasted for a good while.
Yes I agree
@@TheReviewStudios I think it was a victim of the purge of "violent" cartoons.
I’m amazed you keep finding shows I’ve never heard of!
That's good, though, right
@@TheReviewStudios Very good! I figured I’d seen everything there was to see. I’m glad to be wrong! :D
Attention, Somerset. I am Star Colonel Nikolai Malthus of the Jade Falcon Clan. A full Trinary stands ready to conquer your planet. What forces dare oppose us?
I'm glad I never saw "Skeleton Warriors." I had a bad fear of skeletons as little kid and this would have scared the sh*t out of me.
No doubt, thanks for sharing
Still, it was a pretty badass action cartoon, and the Skeleton Warriors were great villains.
You might wanna stay away from James Stephanie Sterling's channel then. They use the opening theme song to Skeleton Warriors as a running joke.
@Falcovsleon21 there's a name I haven't heard in a while.
@Falcovsleon21 I grew out of it eventually, but thanks for the warning. :)
Skeleton Warriors must have used the same animation studio as the contemporary series X-men: The Animated Series. The art designs are almost identical.
I thought the same thing
Ah the nostalgia. A lot of these didn't reach Ireland. Thank you
Is it annoying that I don't specify the country of origin?
I loved The Head! It was actually a really good show with an original plot. MTV had some pretty good content back then.
yeah I miss old MTV
How did I never watch Monster Force. It was pretty much written for me lol
A classic
BATTLETECH! I will never call this a failed cartoon. I love Battletech.
The Head was like an amazing fever dream as a kid. I got to watch a few episodes at my eventual step brother's place, since they had cable. I was super into it, but then it disappeared. The only release it ever had was a few episodes on VHS. Otherwise you had to buy a bootleg set. Luckily, probably 10 years ago now, the original creator actually started making his own DVD sets to sell from his website. I bought one, watched it with a friend, and absolutely loved it.
Soon after it was canceled I remember coming across a graphic novel with a conclusionary story at a Borders bookstore.
@@t.p.3456 Wow, awesome!
I had no idea Battletech had its own cartoon, and I was in the target demographic at the time
"The more you know" thanks for watching.
The cartoon has been remastered and released on RUclips so you can go watch it now. ruclips.net/video/PLJM4vjMdhc/видео.html
I played the Ps1 games... there were a few.
Marsupilami is originally a French BD character, where I knew it from
Yeah a lot of people hated the "Americanized" watered down version
I guess I'm the only french dude here so I'll explain the Marsupilami thing. The Marsupilami was a beloved European comics created in the 50s! I guess the logic for the cartoon was: "The Smurfs" worked so let's try this. BTW Marsupilami was spined off from "Spirou" a HUGE comics in Europe, as big as Tintin. Voilà les amis !
Thank you
I was 16 in 94, and i loved that head show. I remember thinking it looked terrible, and i was probably smoking something one night and it popped on and i was hooked.
Same thing with Conan Obrien.
I couldn't stand his face, and everyone loved him . Then, the same situation.
But the 90s were odd.
That's hilarious 😂 thank you
I was 9 and I fucking LOVED The Head. I had cool parents, dad and I would always sit down with popcorn and watch all the "adult" animation liquid television had to offer. One of the best times of my life.
I just barely crawled out of the womb at that time, the animated medium peaked in the 90s.
If I were to watch 10 seconds of obrien, I'd rather watch whole jinjin panda cartoon.
Thank you so much for doing this, I keep trying to explain to my son that kids' cartoons in the '90s had characters with giant nipple spikes and he looks at me like he's already picking out my nursing home for dementia. I don't dare tell him my high school had a student smoking area, too... 😂
I was definitely in the target demographic for these shows in 1994 and the only things I remember from this are the "after these messages well be right back" interstitials
Yeah those ABC bumpers are iconic they immediately bring me back to the era.
I definitely remember MTV's Oddities show. Maxx was an Image comic book series. I loved this time in animation, as more shows were aimed at Teens and Young Adults. Was 15/16 yrs old in '94. I knew I would Never stop watching cartoons. 😅
I remember being angry when I discovered Battletech was cancelled, awesome show, Axman for life.
I remember wathcing a lot of these.. because they were on, not because I liked them, Marsupliami, Beethoven, Free Willy, Problem child.
Skeleton warriors had a great theme song, Though I watched it and battle tech, Conan, long after the original release.
The only one of these I watched at the time and liked was The Head, The Maxx was the best though
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for posting another nostalgic video I was 12 when these first aired@@TheReviewStudios
Monster Squad as a kid: This is so cool!
Monster Squad as an adult: This ain’t for kids!!
(I was surprised at the level of profanity for a kids’ film.)
Wolfman got balls will never leave my head
I remember the theme song to marsupilami and shitty sega game more than I remember a single episode
I was disappointed when BattleTech was canceled after one season. I would like to see this done again with current CGI. That would be AWESOME!!!
Skeleton Wars animation was top notch.
I remember most of (not all) these cartoons.
Nice
Why not do a failed 2000's cartoons? Oh wait, that is pretty much ALL of them.
Exactly the 2000s just ran off the residual excellence of the 90s
Those bumpers between the show are the best!
I remember them between the cartoon shows we used to watch!
I absolutely loved The Head! I still have the VHS somewhere.
Skeleton Warriors should never been canceled in the first place. 😀👍
pretty sure it was a victim of the purge of "violent" cartoons.
Wow, I remember The Head and a little bit of Problem Child 😅 the mid-90s was a WEIRD time.
80s & 90s cartoons were the best. i loved all of the semi-pointless cartoons and video games that literally followed the coat-tails of whatever movies came out at the time. i loved LiquidTV, & Mtv's Oddities. The MaxXx, Aeon FLux, especially The Head that was a favorite. the awesome animation, the unique concepts just cant be replicated.
they may not have all been winners, but at least there was variety.
One of the best channels on RUclips! Love these!
Glad you love them! Appreciate the feedback thank you
I watched Beethoven and Problem Child. Those were good shows.
Awesome thanks for watching
Only 1 of these caught me off guard. Conan and the Young Warriors. I followed the original show and I had no idea this spinoff even existed. Thanks man.
No problem
Wow, memory unlocked with The Head, I only vaguely remembered The Maxx.
James Stephanie Stirling has a thing for Skeleton Warriors. They use them a lot in their videos.
Yes, usually when they're about to say the "c" word
Praise the algorithm! This channel seems cool. Subscribed.
Cool! Thank you!!!
Skeleton warriors is one of the most 90s cartoons ive ever seen
I freaking LOVED Skeleton Warriors! I wish we'd gotten more of it, considering all the potential it had. I was a huge WildC.A.T.s fan too.
I'd played some of the Battletech games, so I got really excited when the animated series started. I think it was a little much for people who didn't know anything about the world.
Monster Force was one of my FAVORITE cartoons in the 90s. I loved the concept. I also watched Conan and the Young Warriors every week. And its predecessor, for that matter. It was just really fun, and there wasn't a lot for us fantasy fans.
They were fairly great cartoons when they still made real cartoons.🇺🇲📺📺🇺🇲
For years I thought Skeleton Wariors was a fever dream
Marsupalami wasnt Disney. Hes a European character from comics that Disney bought a licence to use.
Yes, the original version was a lot less hokey
Marsupilami is a spin off from Spirou et Fantasio
I really wonderh ow they ended up buying the license for it? It feels so out of left field.
@@TheReviewStudios the whole story behind disneys marsupilami is an interesting rabbit hole and the adaptation being not accurate was the least shitty thing about the situation because iirc disney practically buried the show shortly after it premiered and literally lied to the creator(the contract mandated full 30 minute episodes but in actuality the show had a 3 short format with 1 short being recycled from raw toonage, 1 short being an unrelated cartoon like the Sebastian the crab shorts from the same show, and only the last short being new content) later on the creator sued disney and actually won which is why raw toonage will never be rereleased or reran(except the bonkers shorts as those had compilation episodes in that show that even reused the hosting segments from raw toonage episodes that featured him as a host)
Conan, Wildcats, X-men, Ultraforce, Mighty Maxx, Toxic Crusaders, Tales from the Cryptkeeper, Ronin Warriors, BTAS, Darkstalkers, and Spiderman were my favorites then. Still, King Arthur and the Knights of Justice, Skeleton Warriors, and Monster Force were a fun part of my 2nd phase of childhood cartons. My 1st phase was the best though G.I. Joe, TMNT, Transformers, Scooby Doo, Ducktales, Tailspin, Heathcliff, Ghostbuster and the Criminally underrated Dinosaucers, C.o.p.s & dino Riders that had awesome toys..
The Maxx was so good it made The Head look like diarrhea
It was just like the comic books.
I remember in the 90s. An animated series was broadcast about an elite on Earth who dedicated themselves to hunting aliens infiltrated as humans. One of the members of this squadron had the ability to mimic his arms in the same style as the T 1000. If anyone remembers it and knows the name it would be very helpful.
❤I grew up loving Beethoven 😂the reaso why I begged my parents to get the family a pet Guinea Pig. Thankfully they caved 🥰
Mr.Huggs 😊
Nice thanks for sharing
the fact there were 10 in 1 year is crazy.
Multi player battle tech to this day is one of the best Multi player games I've ever played. You could join one of the 6 houses and war with the other 5.
Both The Head and The Maxx are childhood nostalgia!
I can’t recall if I watched Skeleton Warriors as a kid or if I just watched a lot of Skeleton Warriors clips on RUclips. That opening song is a banger though.
my brother and I would quote skeleton warriors everywhere we went lmaooo
LOVED the Skeleton Warriors!! Had the action figures my dad used them in the aquarium we had it looked AWESOME!!!
I had a bunch of the Skeleton Warriors toys as a kid, but I don't think I ever caught the show.
I love Marsupilami!! ❤ My brothers and I used to have two episodes on VHS.
The only one I definitely remember watching as a kid was “Problem Child”. I cannot recall any of the content, but I know I watched it back then (and never again after, lol).
The head was great! Prime 90s cartoon TV!
I grow up watching almost all of these great cartoons.
I swear my local CBS affiliate pulled Conan and the Young Warriors. I saw one episode and could never find it again.
I vaguely remember ours mixing in Young Warriors with the first season.
Thanks for the memories!
You're welcome. Thanks for watching
A+ video!
LOVE IT! So great to see all these cartoon series!
Thank you
Conan was awesome. I still sing the theme song sometimes and do The Sign of Jhebbal Sag. Good times :)
I loved Conan The Adventurer. I felt it was so underrated back then. I've been watching it again in Tubi.
16:25 "I am Locutus of Borg."
Couldn't resist.
Marsupialami aired during an incredibly traumatic time of my childhood. It's crazy how just hearing the theme song can bring back such vivid emotions.
It all comes flooding back
Skeleton Warriors can and should be remastered it would be a success nowadays. I also remember the Problem Child animated series as well
I watched and enjoyed The Head when it originally aired, not sure how it has aged but I have fond memories of it
Skeleton Warriors and Monster Force. Thank you, I couldn't remember what the name of Monster Force title for the life of me for the longest time.
I remember pretty much all of them except for “The Head” but I did remember watching “The Maxx”. I was 4 or 5 years old in 1994
Thanks For these! Memories...
Our pleasure!
Skeleton Warriors was one of my favorite shows as a kid. I always had a hard time catching it on TV, so I never got to see the entire series until recently. Most of the other shows I either never heard of or only saw an episode of before moving on to other shows. Might check out Monster Force, if it's on RUclips.
It's possible the entire series is still up still, and decent quality too. Thanks for watching!
With Monster Force, you achieved the inusual result of educate me about a cartoon of the nienties I've neard of! Thanks a lot!
Monster Force was Universal's early attempt to put their monsters together before The Dark Universe.
Maaaaan
I always got marsupalami song stuck in my head!!
Loved his gorilla pal Maurice
I remember Skeleton Warriors, and I have some of the toys. I remember grabbing them up when K B Toys had them on clearance!
I was hoping to see "Highlander : The Animated Series" that debuted in 1994 as well.
I will say this about Problem Child: it was either the first or second show famed voice actor, Ben Diskin (yes, THAT Ben Diskin) was in, so we have this for jump starting his voice acting career.
I remember seeing, Conan, free Willy and Beethoven. So sad mech warrior was not continued. Always had the ideas that it must have a movie!!
Loved Marsupilami, still do
Oh man, I remember _all of these._ I was a little older than the probably intended audience (I was 13 in 1994...still a hardcore Saturday morning cartoon junkie, though!), and I was absolutely crazy for Monster Force. Skeleton Warriors was also a pretty good way to give me some of the old-school vibe (my childhood was back in the heyday of He-Man and She-Ra, and the like...Skeleton Warriors was a reasonable throwback with a darker edge to He-Man), but Monster Force was right up my alley as a spooky weirdo. And yeah, it kind of did have a feel of "Monster Squad meets sci-fi action" that hit the spot, seeing as I loved the heck out of that movie (one of my earliest forays into scary movies as a kid!).
We sincerely appreciate that you enjoyed the video! Dig the profile name 👍
Skeleton Warriors was an absolutely dope show. The toys were amazing as well and always wished for more seasons and toys. Also Mutant League was a fun show and the Hockey game for Sega was my favorite hockey game of all time.
