So in this video, we've been out comparing the GPS connection speed with the Mavic Air2S. Prior to the Firmware Update, the GPS connection speed were rather appalling, often trailing being the Mavic Air2s by a minute and sometimes over 5 minutes.
After apply the Firmware Update, there seems to be some improvements... Tell us what your experience is like with Firmware Update V01.00.0600 in the comments section below.

Are you sure that there were always "cold starts" in your measurements?
How long did you wait until the next measurement (after turning off the drones)?
    Thanks in advance.

All cold starts. Prior to the Firmware update, we recorded the times from a few locations. After the Firmware update, and a few days later, we revisited those sites, and recorded the times again. Hence why the weather is different and lighting is different from shot to shot.

From what I've heard, DJI went with automotive grade GPS chips instead of the chip that was used in the Air2S due to chip shortages. The firmware update was to allocate more memory to that automotive GPS chip but it's not enough.....there's been rumor of a new Mavic 3s

The last update didn’t resolve the GPS issue.. So here’s my take… As far as I’m concerned if the M3 can’t take off within the similar time frame of its predecessors it’s a bust. This drone cost twice as much. Yet, seemingly has give us twice the issues as well. I won’t go into the other’s relative to how the drone was launched.. Suffice to say, yes it has a better sensor size and the largest zoom range than any other consumer drone but that means nothing if you have to sit around and wait for satellites. For God sake it’s a camera at the end of the day. The point is that a camera is used to capture the moment. What if you had to wait to use your smart phone camera or your DSLR for over 2 to 5 minutes? Most play this down because this device flies and can provide unique images. However, the glitch with GPS is extremely counterproductive and yes diminishes the overall experience of having this drone. This also creates huge issues regarding its commercial use. We need to be a lot louder about this!

I hear you loud and clear, mate. It's like one of the other viewers have mention. A lot of money for drone with great specs but frustrates the heck out of you when you try and use it.

GPS lock depends on location and weather conditions which are variables but tech updates may well have an influence.

honestly I flew about a week and a half ago and it took 2 to 3 mins...i bought a new pro controller and it was seemingly under 30 seconds about 3 days ago.

I am very curious if the controller actually had something to do with the connection as well. I understand the drone itself has GPS sensors, but if any interaction with the controller is happening at the same time, can the controller type then have an affect on the GPS lock? Not sure but it is a thought given the above comment.

We think it was the surveillance camera that alerted them. And maybe they were also nearby. Otherwise I think it would have been a nothing burger. Which it was anyway.

That sucks man. I know how that feels. Apparently DJI admitted it’s still an issue.
