  • Curd Rice an easy lunch box recipe which is healthy and tasty.It is a typical traditional south Indian food.
    Ingredients
    Rice 1 cup
    Milk 1 cup
    Curd 1/2 cup
    Salt to taste
    Oil 1 tbsp
    Mustard seeds 1 Tsp
    Urad Dal 1 Tsp
    Channa Dal 1 tsp
    Asafoetida a pinch
    Ginger a small piece
    Green Chillies 2
    Curry leaves a few

    Hello mam.. I am a north Indian.. but I love s.indian food - especially curd rice. The other day I made curd rice but did not add milk. Now when I watch ur video I understand where I went wrong. Thanks a lot. Also I totally love watching ur channel. :)

    I’ve been looking at this and thinking I should try. I made it today came out very well but I didn’t have the hing. I have to buy this in speciality shops only in parts of Colombo where Tamils live. It looks smells delicious

    Hi aunty today I learnt correct way of preparing curd rice for lunch...till now I don't know can add milk for reducing fermentation....every time when I take curd rice for lunch by the time of lunch it used to become to sour

    I do not have a pressure cooker, so I am gonna tried the other way like in a normal pot but cook longer until rice is soft, is good right? Love this dish so much. Healthy, mouth watering and delicious. Thanks Gita ji.

    Gita garu namaskaram. Very recently I have subscribed to your channel and I should say, I am enjoying all your recipes thoroughly. In the curd rice preparation, should we not use ghee for tempering instead of oil? Please clarify.

      Oil is fine.. We have added butter to curd rice

    You explain things very nicely. Some people talk a lot but still do give important pointers. You are not like them. I had read many curd rice recipes by different people. But nobody had mentioned that rice needs to be cooked with 4 parts water so that rice becomes mushy which will make curd rice creamy.

    Hi mam. Just a very big fan and follower of urs. Curd was and is always my favorite thing. Ur right mam. For us south Indians no meal is complete without curd rice and curd. From when was searching for this authentic curd rice recipe mam. Thank u so much. Mam have an query how to add the quantity of milk if I want to have curd rice immediately for my dinner?

    Hi Gitama... Thanks for the recipe. I tried it for today's lunch box. Nice. But by the time I started to have ma lunch it was bit too watery. What to do for that? Is it because of excess milk? Or should I grind the cure in the mixi before adding? Please guide...

      Please use thick curd.

      Mash the rice when still hot. Use only as much milk till fully absorbed. Dont add cold curd to hot rice, allow the rice also to cool down before adding curd

      about 2 cups of fresh curd and 1/2 cup milk for 1 cup cooked rice
