Back in the day, 3 GB was seen as gigantic in most AAA. Nowadays, games are choking out GPUs with 8 GB on minimum settings.

@@olivierboudreau6524 lol 10 years ago a xx60 gpu had 2gb vram and the flagship had 6gb, today the xx60 cards have at least 8gb while flagship has 24gb, in 10 years from now xx60 cards which are meant for 1080p gaming will literally have 14-16gb vram, while flagships might have 32-48gb, even hogwarts legacy now uses 10gb vram for 1080p ultra settings

true, i play The Riftbreaker on my rx6600, 1440p. medium RT with medium SSR and high textures, so not the highest settings, nothing on utlra, pretty much everything medium aside form textures, with FSR 2.0 balanced, and shit uses whole 8GB of vram justt like that. And riftbreaker is one of the least demanding newer games. Some games already eat up 8gb of vram in 1080p on medium/high settings. I use RT in this game cuz it simply looks better, even comapred to "ultra" without it. 4GB is the absolute minimum in newer titles. I rememeber trying to play Apex Legends on my 2Gb GTx 960 and due to 2GBs of vram, it was unplayable. Frames were 60 most of the time, sure, but stuttering was insane.

also back then. a game that eats more than 2Gb vram is quite rare.

while also do looks very good and could keep up with newer games.

    Today i was re-watching your HD7850 2GB review(from 4 months ago).
By comparing its settings/performance with the GTX580 3GB in this video, i noticed that they are very similar in performance ,something which i found surprising , since GTX580 3GB ,was working with *unoptimised drivers from 2018* , while HD7850 2GB was using very recent drivers from 2022.
This makes GTX580's performance even more surprising ,being able to match something like that.
---The only clear outlier was the performance at Red Dead Redemption 2 ,where GTX580 was left far behind , but with only 80% GPU utilization
(*i don't understand why this is happening in your tests Kryzzp. As i told you in PM ,i've seen some other YT-channels recently testing a GTX580 1,5 GB with RDR2 , with GPU utilization hitting 100% , so i'm very confused about what's going on with RDR2's performance with the GTX580 .)

Huh I recall having a GTX 650 3gb at one point, got sold within an hour of listing it
Only ran ark on It and we'll it's a GTX 650 the extra ram doesn't help much

In non Unreal Engine 4 games (4.19+), I really do think FSR 1.0 Ultra Quality preset (77% rez scale) looks perfectly fine.

Any chance you add FFXIV on the games list. The most intensive area of the game is the start of the marauder class ( limsa lominsa hub ) and the game is accessible on free to play for a while.

Funny. Few years later nvidia launch the GTX 1060 with 3gb of vram (like this 580) and this card with the 580 (amd card) destroy the 1080p ultra gaming in 2016, crowned kings, the boys always love these gpus.

hey, can you test the rtx 3060 in rdr2 in the future? since the 2060 can actually get 45 fps on average at 4k with DLSS but suffer from stuttering issues because of the lack of VRAM, I was wondering if the 3060 12gb would achieve good fps at 4k

    • @flegetonte8491
      @flegetonte8491 Год назад +1

If he doesn't test it, I can tell you. I have an rtx 3060 12gb oc. I don't use the oc option. However, I paired with a ryzen 1600. Right now playing all ultra (really, all options posibles) in 2k with dlss quality. Between 45 and 50 fps.
In 4k, dlss quality with the same options I get 28-31 fps, no more, no less than that.
If I put on performance I get 35-40. Never tested ultra performance.
Honestly, I can use the unboxing hardware settings for much more fps but again, never tested.

@@thefurmidablecatlucky3 No problem, I really like my card, it surpasses all my expectation but go from a 1050 ti from a 3060 12gb is another level. And yes, you're right. Yesterday I was remember you and tested the hub and gives me 45 fps in 4k with dlss quality. And 70 fps in 2k with the same settings, really insane.
