Hey everyone hope you enjoyed the reaction! Sorry for the larger watermark had the previous video taken down for copyright so had to make the watermark a little more visible in this version, should still be easily viewable though😁 See you next for the surprise movie!
It's all good!
No problem it happens. I’m glad it’s back up. And I can’t wait for ur next surprise movie😍
Don't worry about it! Just happy to watch :^)
Thought of this, ever considered reacting to documentaries? When you got surprised how Shrek’s hand covered Fiona’s face reminded me how Andre the Giant’s hands could do that easily.
COULD THIS SURPRISE MOVIE BE SPIES IN DISGUISE?
Fun fact: "Lord Farquaad" is a play on words making fun of the old manager of the makers of Shrek while they were working for Disney. Basically, they're calling their old manager a "fuck-wad", and Duloc is "Disney".
Welcome to Duloc, such a perfect town. Here we have some rules let us lay them down. Don't make waves, stay in line, and we'll get along fine. Duloc is a perfect place.
I had never thought about Farquaad. That’s pretty brilliant.
And the character was based on Mike Asner, who hated Katzenberg.
Its so weird thinking that in the 90s and 2000s these companies always was used to "Fight"
shrek himself is a real world person base the french angel
a ugly boxer from france whoo actually was a nice and generous person
@@armita5555 not a boxer. he was a wrestler. that's why we get to see a wrestling match with those knights at the tournament
"Well...she's married to....The Muffin Man...".
"The Muffin Man?".

Absolutely, same 😆
The only question is, who is she?
@@peridotentertainment8287 We will never know
“Then you gotta gotta try a little TENDERNESS!!! The chicks love that romantic crap!”
My favorite line from Donkey
In the french version, when Donkey sings he mixed french and english
8:22 Donkey: Can I stay with you, please?
NickFlix: Come on, please
Shrek: Of course!
Donkey: Really?
NickFlix: Oh really?!
Shrek: *deadpan* No.
Me: That made me chuckle a bit
Me too.
Fun Fact about this movie, the original author was against it being made into a movie, as he was worried they would clean it up and remove his disgustingness to make it more appealing.
He was delighted to find they made him even more disgusting.
The best feeling ever.
@@fynnthefox9078 stink in pride!!! hahaha
If you pay attention in Farquads room, you can see the mama bear that was caged with the papa and baby bear, now killed and turned into a rug.
You can also see him get half-stock looking at Fiona in the video he's watching.
Didn't even notice that thanks for pointing that out!
The mother bear is still alive. In the filmmakers commentary the people who worked on the film reveal she is still alive and appears in the kaoroke dance party which happens after the film
@@siddhantsamant3539 but she’s wearing a different bow. So maybe the Dad got together with another bear because in the mama bear rug she has a pink bow like how she did before
@@nickflix8657 the mama bear is still alive. In the films makers commentary the people who worked revealed she is still alive and appears in the shrek kaoroke dance which happens after the film
Shrek is such a good movie & Shrek 2 is even better than the first one. I can’t to see ur reaction to the rest of the Shrek films😍
yeah shrek 2 is great because has many good sond and music
Shrek 2 is a masterpiece! 🤌🤌🤌😽
Jennifer Saunders' rendition of "I Need a Hero" is easily the best part of the film. As for the third and fourth films, they're better left alone.
Yeah, the second one is awesome! The fourth one is pretty good, too)
We can agree Shrek 4 is the true Shrek 3
The reason ogres are like onions: the outside of an onion is tough and bitter, but each layer of an onion gets sweeter. At least thats what I've been told by people that eat onions, I don't like onions.
Also I'm surprised you immediately picked up she's an ogre, I mean it is right there if you pay attention, but its pretty disguised and they don't reveal it until later.
Right. It’s a great moral to of the story. Amazing how much you miss when you’re watching movies like this as a child.
I don’t like onions either XD
I like onions, but I like your comment more. 😃
Thanks, I never understood the comparaison.
Little fun fact ab this movie , dreamworks was doing so bad financially until this movie came through and literally pulled them out of it . Not surprised since shrek is literally amazing. I cant wait for you to react to the second one , that one is my favorite dreamworks movie 🥰
That's actually such a cool fact, thanks for sharing!
Likewise, I can't wait for your mind to be blown in the sequels, Nick!
I was already a teen when this came out so I enjoyed the more adult humour out the gate 😅
This, and Madagascar trilogy have a special place in my heart ❤
@@nickflix8657 the final shrek movie is called shrek: forever after and it is my favorite out of all of them. I would love to see ur reaction to it.
@@richardmelgar1936 dude same I love the last movie of Shrek too because it's so good and very emotional one 😭
This movie is just wonderful. Is everything a classic fairytale is not: Usually, when a princess sings, the animals sing too but when Fionna sings birds explode, love at first sight doesn't exist because love takes time and love takes work, the princess can actually defend herself,.....Also, you are going to LOVE Shrek 2. I think it's one of the best sequels of all times, if not the best one!! (Also also, don't apologize for crying, we like your reaction just the way it is)✨
He gone love the music in that one definitely 😅
@@cjjackson2423 "Is everything a classic fairytale is not:love at first sight doesn't exist because love takes time and love takes work"One thing doesn't exclude the other...you *can* fall in love with someone at 1st sight and *then* you'll have to spend more time with that person and to work to make the relationship work!
"the princess can actually defend herself"This is true for *several* princesses(expecially Disney ones)...think of Nala, who always pinned Simba!;-P Or Pocahontas who saved John Smith's life(just like Ariel saved Eric's life and Rapunzel saved Flynn's life)or Mulan who saved an entire Country!;-P Or Anna, who managed to save both her sister and herself in the 1st movie!!Etc etc etc.
But I agree on"Shrek 2":it's an amazing sequel!;-]
@@Nicamon bruh what? 😭

EDIT:My comment was an answer to Ana Timonet's comment,BTW,if it wasn't clear enough by the fact that I quoted her!^^;
@Jasmine N. Maybe it wasn't _common_ but it _was_ already happening for a while."The Little Mermaid"is from 1989(and the fairytale is obviously even older),"The Lion King"is from 1994,"Pocahontas"is from 1995,"Hunchback from Notre Dame"(that has Esmeralda,another"badass princess")is from 1996 and"Mulan"is from 1997. PLUS,apart from Disney,in the '90s we also had"Sailor Moon"in cartoons,"Xena"(the Warrior PRINCESS)and"Buffy"for TV shows and right in 2000 we got the"Charlie's Angels"movie(1 year before"Shrek").😎
EDIT: *And* in 1999 we got"Matrix"and Trinity(from whom Fiona got _this_ move! 31:52 - 31:57)!!Seriously,the '90s were *FULL* of Badass"Princessess"!!🤩🤩
Hiccup: I trained a dragon
Daenerys: I raised a dragon
Donkey: 😏 😏 😏
LMAO I knew that one
Skipper:You just mermaid my day😂
@@MovieGoer-ff4pn funny how u said day, its 12:29 AM here in Brazil
F*ck 🤣🤣🤣
This is a dnd session, Shrek is a barbarian, Fiona is a monk and Donkey is a bard XD
at the start shrek was reading the book while on the toilet, that's why he's the "narrator"
This whole thing would of been easier if Lord Farquaad picked Snow White to be his princess coz she's already on Shrek's dining table haha
Was about to agree, until I remembered that I played Snow White in our Shrek the Musical presentation for school. Twice. So... no, thank you. 😂
So many innuendos that went over my head as a kid lol
Fun fact - They recorded all of Mike Myers' lines in a Canadian accent as planned in the script. He heard it, didn't like it, and Dreamworks spent $4,000,000 redoing all his lines with his Scottish accent, reanimations and all.
Chris Farley was also supposed to be Shrek before he passed away. Had a lot of dialogue actually recorded.
Mike Myers disputed that claim. He didn’t get paid any extra money for redoing his lines.
Myers adlibbed that smacked bottom line when a director got on his nerves.
So, when you mess the lines you rehearse before the final production, it gets more and more expensive just to make sure you get it right?
And... It was the right choice.
The funny and ironic part of Lord Farquad's Fairy tale eviction notice was that when they tried to arrest Shrek, they would have actually sent him to where he ALREADY LIVES!
Basically this is why this movie was made.
Frank Wells (The Man who was in charge of Disney back then) dies from helicopter crash
Jeffrey catsenburg: ok cool, so I’m in charge now
Disney executives: nuh uh, nuh uh
They had a big fight and Jeffrey left Disney and created dreamworks.
A few years later shrek comes out as a big middle finger to Disney
That’s why it’s constantly making fun of Disney characters
The fairy falling on him with the magic glitter is “fairy dust” . In “Peter Pan” if you think happy thoughts after being sprinkled with it, you can fly….
Yes, I noticed that when I saw the movie for the first time.
Plus, he says " I can fly "
Nick you have the most wholesome reactions ever
Thanks so much!
This why I watch 👏
@@nickflix8657 your very welcome Nick keep doing you. You rock!!
@@cjjackson2423 exactly, his videos make my day
I feel the same way
Looking past the memes this film spawned, it truly is a classic.
"By night one way, by day another
This shall be the norm
Until you find true love's first kiss
Then take love's true form"
The spell never said she'll stop being an ogre, it said she'll take on her love's true form. Shrek loves her as an ogre, so she gets to stay with him happily ever after in the form that is most loved.
This movie is definitely a classic
It’s been 20 years since I watched this movie on 📀 as a 4 year old.
Even the plot of this movie is obvious, there is some kind of cinemagic. Still cannot understand what makes so obvious story so memorable.
P.S. Shrek still the love & life))
I love how this movie constantly makes fun of lord farquaad for being short
even more funny if you realize the VA of him, John Lithgow, is 6.33 ft or 1.93 m tall. 😃😃😃
I love it even more because this movie is all about accepting people for who they are despite their flaws.
They didn’t necessarily reference ”Disney”, since they’re all folk lore and fairytale charachters that Disney took inspiration from. Disney didn’t create them. Glad you enjoyed the film a lot more now, it’s a classic for sure! 🙌🏼
Name one word that (positively) triggers an entire generation...
"Some-BODY..."
Ah, the movie where Katzenberg poured in all of his bad blood against Disney. 😂 He left/got fired from Disney about 5 years before this, when Lion King and Pocahontas had just come out, so the timeline adds up considering how long it takes to make one of these pfffft. Good thing is that there was a great cast and crew to make it into a great story!
Not to mention when Katzenberg left, Michael Eisner wasn’t a savior of the Disney company anymore due to him being jealous of other cgi features became successful such as Dreamworks and Blue Skies Studios and went destroy the first draft of idea of Chicken Little were Chicken is a fearful girl and went to summer camp, destroying the company within such as the collapsing of ABC, the jokes of other theme parks after the embracing opening of Disney California Adventure and the never ending failures of Disneyland Paris and his mismanagement of the company into a rapacious and soulless lawment and his worst offense for Roy Disney is poor handling of the animation division due to the bad case of his testosterone poisoning. I rest my case.
When you can’t escape, just flirt with the dragon.
Smaug: do you think flattery will keep you alive?
Smaug: I will not part with a single coin.

I don’t care what anyone says! The Shrek Movies are the best quadrilogy movies of all time
Well maybe excluding the third one, but absolutely!
Same❤
Shrek 2 beats shrek 1 hands down. I really enjoy the first one, but the second one gets me so excited in words I can't describe! glad you enjoyed Shrek and hope you will react to the rest of them! Stay well my friend!
DreamWorks was working on this film and Prince of Egypt at the same time, and any time an animator got into trouble while working on Prince of Egypt, their punishment was to go work on Shrek.
wtf I don't know why that idea is so funny but it is 😂
I love how in touch Nick is with his emotions and how comfortable he is showing them! We need more people like Nick! So empathetic 💖💖💖
I had to go back for a minute when you said"who is Eddie Murphy" I almost died of shock 😂😭
Especially since he's seen Mulan. I just knew Eddie Murphy was Mushu before I even saw that one, mainly because of this. I saw Mulan on DVD years later, around 2005. This was something I saw in theatres much earlier, and I saw the second one before Mulan, too.
I think he meant who Eddie Murphy voices 😛
Actually, I think he was just wondering who Eddie Murphy voices in this movie
20:42 - "That'll do, Donkey. That'll do."
I feel that most people nowadays don't realize that is a movie reference.
This was my first time watching the movie in English (I have it in Latin Spanish and the jokes were GENIUS). But the original sub... oh god, that "God bless us, everyone!" THAT killed me. 😂😂😂
I'm so happy you got to see it all over again like it was the first time.
I am Latin Spanish speaker too
Awesome! Just want to tell you Nick, you should TOTALLY watch the second film, it's equally as awesome as this first one IMO. The third one is terrible, but funnily enough you can skip the third movie and go straight to the fourth one, nothing would change. Though not as good as 1 & 2, I gotta say, the fourth film, "Shrek: Forever After," is pretty good too.
The third one isn’t as good, but it’s definitely not terrible.
And if you skip it, he would miss something more or less important…
I swear the humor in this movie is top tier 👌
It's so cute you feeling emotional in this movie
I know you were asking who Eddie was playing, but hearing you say "Eddie Murphey's in this!? ... Who is Eddie Murphey?" was hilarious to me.
Ah yes, the film that launched a thousand memes. A classic for sure! A lot of the jokes in this movie are just making fun of Disney, their company, their business practices, etc.
The second is still my favorite, but you just love the plot of this one. Eddie Murphy seems to be having a blast here, just like when he voiced Mushu 😆
I love how much you treasure bonds between characters in everything you watch. If you get to the fourth movie it'll be a real treat for you. It is all about the bonds between the characters, how important they are and why you should value what you have.
33:37 Nick literally losing everything to this scene LMAO 😂
Ikr lol
I think ironically Shrek depends on a lot on Disney to really enjoy, due to it being a subversion of Disney stereotypes. so since you didn't see any Disney films, you didn't get Shrek.
Nah it’s mainly just folk lore and fairy tales Disney just adapted a lot of the same stories into films
@@christucker7655 Shrek was directly a middle finger to Disney.
I’m jealous of people that get to experience this movie for the first time
I never actually noticed Pinocchio saying “father, Please don’t let them do this” when he was being sold. That was actually heartbreaking
I really love that they gave Fiona wrinkles. Most Disney protagonists are teenagers, but both Shrek and Fiona are 30.
And let’s be real. No way she had moisturizer in that tower. That plus all the dry hot air from the lava and fire-breathing dragon, I’m surprised she looked as good as she did
Shrek has more memes than movie XD
Shrek has ascended from fun movie character to memelord!
I just love how he smiles throughout all these movies
Nick surprised the fairy dust made Donkey fly for a bit...maybe because he hasn't seen Peter Pan yet?
29:52 BEST PART OF THE VIDEO poor nick LOL
i love shrek so so much. the second one is PHENOMENAL.
This was such a classic early 2000s movie! Such a fun parody of the old Disney films, with great comedy, music, and characters! This was a movie that really influenced the future of animated blockbusters, for better and for worse!
This movie is actually my favorite followed by the second! Think it's the nostalgia but this one always will hold a special place to me!
Shrek was certainly a gem of its time. Challenging the fairy tale genre and making fun of it while presenting a good morale about not judging a book by it's cover before reading the whole thing. Good times.
Shrek is the master of pushing the PG boundary. the amount they got away with is absolutely hilarious.
Oh my God, you ATE the PRINCESS!!!
🤣🤣🤣
I think I've seen all the Shrek films in theaters growing up, missed half the dirty jokes at a young age. It's definitely a trend setter; helped create the best animated film catagory at the Oscars, and every CGI animated film after this one has been influenced by it for better or worse.
Originally, comedian Chris Farley voiced Shrek but died in the middle of production, and when Mike Myers was asked to replace Farley, Myers asked for the script to be rewritten so that it’s not disrespecting Farley. What we have is the rewritten version. While most of the audio for the Farley version is lost, some was found and uploaded on RUclips.
He would have done a very good job too as Shrek. And he did it without a Scottish accent too, just his own voice. And that test audio and first draft animatic for the campire scene makes me see a completely different Shrek. One that could have been taken more seriously. And by everyone, not just the niche internet audience. The ones that know what a masterpiece it is.
I'd love it if the released that cut of the film, even if it's unfinished. It'd be interesting to see what kind of Shrek we could've gotten if things were different.
Your facial expressions are amazing in everyone of your videos
46:46 this was the song we played at the end of our wedding😁😁😁
I really love that fighting scene with the knights when Shrek and Donkey enters the castle 😂
Btw, if you’re watching all of the movies then in the second movie there’s a small clip after a little bit of the credits. 😊
this movie came out when I was 9 and it completely changed my relationship to music, particularly since it introduced me to Joan Jett, who sings “Bad Reputation” while Shrek is wailing on all the would-be princess rescuers at the beginning.
Adorable reaction as always 🥰 Csn‘t wait for you to see the last prequel, I think it‘s my favorite (and the second one)!
Shrek, HTTYD and Kung Fu Panda are my absolute comfort movies ❤️
Was so upset the previous version got taken down, can't wait to watch this though.
Originally the voice of Shrek was supposed to be comedic actor, Chris Farley. He even had some lines recorded for test footage and story boards. Chris sadly passed away before he could become Shrek. I've always wondered how this movie could have turned out if Chris didn't pass away.
Shrek was the first movie to win the animated film starring Mike Myers as the ogre with Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona as well as John Lithgow as Lord Farquaad. Shrek's sidekick is Donkey voiced by Eddie Murphy
Dude, I can't believe you figured out Fiona's curse before it was revealed. You’ve got a keen eye for details!
To me the ultimate twist of the movie was never Fiona being an ogre it was dragon falling in love with donkey
I mean, magical creatures.
I’m actually surprised you figured out the Princess was and ogre before they actually showed it.
The fairy tale characters aren't exactly Disney inspired moreso just their origin Fairy tale inspired characters. Most of the popular "Disney Fairy Tales" are actually written and created by the Brothers Grimm. (Grimm's Fairy Tales) Disney just popularized most of them. Even Shrek, the story itself, was originally written by an author named William Steig; and was a children's fantasy book.
Also, if you're ever interested, they made a Musical about Shrek back in 2008 and it was on Broadway for about 3 years.. They have a recording of a performance on Netflix I believe, and the songs are surprisingly well done, and they even create backstories for Shrek, Fiona and Farquaad.
i know this is old but the brothers grimm didn't write any fairy tales, they just collected and popularized them first.
Yeah, I wish more people were aware that Disney DOESN'T own fairy tales. They just make an adaptation of them. Fairy tales are in the public domain, meaning ANYONE can make a movie centered around Little Red Riding Hood, Goldilocks, Pinocchio, even Aladdin!
Oh, Dios. Amo a este hombre y sus reacciones 💖😃
YESSSS!! I’m so excited I have been waiting for you to react to this movie 😆
Genuinely love watching these reactions because it's the whole movie within a shorter time and feels like I'm watching it again for the first time. Keep it up Nick
Shrek is definitely a movie you appreciate more as an adult. It's so much funnier when you get all the jokes.
FIRST ONE MORE TIME!!! LOVE YOU NICK ❤
You're in for a wild and hilarious ride my man. Thanks so much for this reaction, can't wait for the others.
YESSS! Also thanks for not making the watermark in the center of the screen like some reactors, I really appreciate it.
No problem!!
One of my favorite pieces of trivia was that DreamWorks was working on the Shrek project while working on Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of dreams. Some animators considered it a punishment to work on Shrek and while I love PoE and JKoD, Shrek really helped DreamWorks stand alone and made the company so much money and I still remember 'Shrek inspired' merch down to food
Shrek is amazing. And the second one it is a masterpiece. Maybe my favorite animation ever.
Ah, what a great movie.
Can't wait to see you react to the rest of them! :)
It's not meant to be a kids movie, Dreamworks is more for ages 10+ watched with a parent or guardian. But yes, this movie is very emotional
Shrek is a fun movie and teaches kids not to judge people by their appearance, everyone is beautiful in their own way, Shrek maybe nasty but he’s a good guy and a very good friend to Donkey, who is my favorite character in the movie
I remember when my family got the DVD of this. the second disc had this game on the computer, where you can dub some of the movie scenes (ogres are like onions, end of story. Bye Bye, see you later). I can't believe that was almost 20 years ago...
This movie still holds up to this very day! Watching your reaction reminds me of how I watch the movie.
Get SHREKED
This year marks 20 years of SHREK.
Also the second Shrek is my favorite.
People don’t like shrek 3 but I loved 2 and 3 !
Yeah, Shrek 3 is so bad, us fans consider it non-canon. Also Forever After is a great ending to the series.
You are going to love Shrek 2! In that one, Fiona's mother the Queen is voiced by Julie Andrews who you might recognize as Maria from The Sound of Music or the Queen from The Princess Diaries! I'd also recommend after watching the movies to watch Shrek the Musical, it's the Broadway show filmed and it's right on Netflix! Total new songs but still great and they even include the Welcome to Duloc song and I'm a Believer.
Shrek 2 is a national treasure
National Treasure is a good movie too.
"Donkey, what are you doing in me swamp!"
I have only seen one other reactor get that fiona was an Ogre from that initial night, nice catch!
3:21 "This music has to be such top tier"
You can say that hell loud
Yay! I’m excited for you to react to the rest of the Shrek movies! I hope you are doing well and I hope school is going good! 😁
All the shrek movies are fun.
Just to let you know Nick, the beginning 2:06 with the door flying open with All Star playing is one of my favourite memes.
4:34 I swear, the "20 pieces of silver for the witch" is a reference to _The Hunchback of Notre Dame,_ where Frollo offers that much for turning in Esmeralda (who he thinks is a witch).
hey, well just in case the part in the begening when donkey fly, is a reference from Peter Pan, love the reaction
