Well the bil has a point. It's not his responsibility. OP should get a live in nanny if he and his wife need to be away that freaking much. Or better yet never had kids knowing the demands.
@@Justtrollingyoulosers she obviously lied to protect him though. Would you really want his kids hearing 'daddy didn't come because he'd rather lie in bed'
I was not expecting the update to story one, usually the husband/ significant others toxic parent drilled in so much that the the one in the wrong is right and your wrong which usually ends in a breack up or divorce, but no the partner addresses the issues and removes the toxic people out of their lifes and trys to fix their mental health, props to op and the husband. 👏
@ as later explained in the story, he was manipulated by his mom. But still, if you even think I’m a gold digger, that’s hilarious, I don’t need to “dig” any gold… least of all from a stranger. Have a good night and happy holidays 😊
@mafcapetillo but ya he works all week, making the income for the household. For other times he does deserve to sleep in, but when there plans set he should be able to get himself up.
Like I mean the girl should have given him a shake but still not helping ur wife help 4-6 kids get ready u know how hard that is? Finding clothes and dressing them individually. But it’s not a family trip it’s rlly a leave ur husband asleep and got to the zoo trip honestly particularly agree with both sides.
Bro why is OP the jerk for calling out his brother in law for not help with the kid. The fact that the brother in law suggested op take his kid to work should show that he has no idea the kid of workplace the op works at. There is no guarantee that the ops place of work would even allow him to bring a child to work especially without prior notice. And last minute notice doesn’t count. The fact you think the op is the jerk just baffles me. It’s not gonna kill the ops brother in law to watch his nephew for two hours. It’s literally two friggin hours he’s not gonna die. Not everyone can afford a babysitter and the op may have a good job at a high end company that doesn’t guarantee he has a good salary
Ooh first story... I had a roommate in college who COULD NOT wake up. Once she had a pretty important exam, but she did turn off her alarm and fell back asleep. I was in a hurry so i didn't have time wake her up. Well she blamed me for weeks, she failed the subject and the entire semester because of it.
I don't disagree that it's not on the brother to watch the kid, however, I do disagree about how he's going about it saying it's child-free and that OP should take the kid with him. Saying 'I'm child-free' just sounds sounds annoying at the best of times. Why can't he just say 'no, your kid is not my responsibility etc'?
Oh okay I have to strongly disagree with the narrator on Story number 4! Just because somebody is child-free doesn't mean that they can't look after somebody else's child. Being child-free doesn't mean that you don't want children around or can't have any children around. It just means that you'd prefer not to have children yourself or children around at an event. This is not an event and honestly this is family and the fact that he can't get over himself long enough to sit there and actually be a part of this nephew is life is actually repulsing. There is no reason this brother-in-law cannot sit there and take this child just for a few minutes or hours when actually needed by their parents. It doesn't sound like the brother-in-law has any kind of problems going on when it comes to jobs or anything and for all we know original poster could have had a job as a nurse or a paramedic or a cop that has to be on call so there might have been an emergency where they needed all Hands-On Deck. From what we can tell from the story this brother-in-law hasn't done anything to help out when it comes to situations like this so it's the least he can do in this situation. Well yes the original poster could have ended up getting a paid babysitter do they really want to trust some random individual they don't even know to watch their kid? I understand some parents wouldn't be able to deal with that and in certain situations they might have to however if this is a really an emergency when it comes to the work situation like a paramedic or a firefighter would need then it's absolutely necessary that this not happen because every moment wasted could be somebody's life on the line. Original poster is not the jerk here and the brother-in-law is because he doesn't seem to want anything to do with his nephew and for no good reason except for the lame excuse of I'm Child free. I'm sure there are plenty of child-free parents out there that will look after their niece and nephew at a certain age when they're old enough. Just because you don't want kids doesn't mean you can't spend time with other people's kids.
Story 1: OP isn't a jerk at all here and the husband deserved to miss out on the trip to the zoo here. It isnt the OP's job to always get him out of bed. My big question here is, is his constant sleeping in the result of his misogynistic parents's attitude rubbing off onto him, or does he possibly have an unknown medical issue? I think it could be both. At least he seems to understand his short comings here and is actively trying to do better here. Story 2: Yeah, these are among the absolute worst bosses to work for. Ones that do not care at all that you are legit sick are the biggest scumbags. If it were me, i would've sat in his office and coughed and sneezed in it.... show him how sick you really are. At least the company president seemed to care more about the OP then the supervisor did, and hopefully the supervisor got into trouble over everything, since it sounded like more people got sick. Story 3: Gee, i wonder why the OP and late sister were low-no contact with the parents here. They sound like awful people. They don't seem to be greiving the way the OP is, and just asking questions about money and housing.... and even trying to sell the house that doesn't belong to them. Sure hoping the will is ironclad and the lawsuits don't go anywhere, because they deserve absoutely nothing.... not even money back for the funeral. Story 4: OP isn't a jerk here... but why even bother going to the BIL here if he wants to be "child-free" and shows pretty much no interest in your son? Sounds like a big waste of time to me. Story 5: OP isnt a jerk at all..... what is it with people not being able to get up on their own? And this guy was being a super jerk about everything here. Screw him.
Finally I’m not the only person disagreeing with narrator in story 4 lol. BIL is a jerk. Child free means you don’t have kids. He makes it sound like it means no kids around him at all. lol childish. And how exactly is he taking advantage of the BIL? He’s not.
Cringe or not, it is not the responsibility of your brother in law to watch your son. If nobody else is available, hire a babysitter, they do exist you know. You are the one with the attitude and the jerk.
First story: absolutely the asshole. If she cant handle getting kids ready, then maybe she shouldn't have had them. On top of that, she lied. He didn't choose not to come, she chose to leave him behind. And she uses the word 'misogynistic' which invalidates anything she says.
Story 4: nah op aint the jerk. Sorry but taking “child free” to me “not helping with children whatsoever” IS a jerk mindset. Childfree revolves around not having children yourself. Unless the brother in law is a danger to himself or others or has a medical reason as to why he doesnt deal with children, OP is not the jerk here. Bad stance narrator, do better.

5:30 I’m proud of OP’s husband. This is proof people who are willing to change and work on themselves can! It’s rare but it can happen.
First story: I love seeing couples talk it out. Problems like sleeping in can be fixed and shouldn’t be so quick to divorce over
It's almost as if it's illegal for a husband to be tired.
Well the bil has a point. It's not his responsibility. OP should get a live in nanny if he and his wife need to be away that freaking much. Or better yet never had kids knowing the demands.
home alone irl
Story 1: sounds like them leaving without the husband was the 'wake-up call' he needed 😂 😂
Is no one going to acknowledge the fact that she lied to his mom? He didn't choose not to come.
@@Justtrollingyoulosers she obviously lied to protect him though. Would you really want his kids hearing 'daddy didn't come because he'd rather lie in bed'
@@Justtrollingyoulosers How is choosing not to get up not choosing not to come? They talked about it the DAY BEFORE.
For the first one, YES it IS YOUR FAULT

First story: NTA, he’s an adult, he needs to wake up, not expect to be waken up as if he still were a kid
So he works for all the $$$ for that family vacation. BUT since he sleeps in F him?
The double standard for gold diggers is hilarious.
