Excellent video - covered the essential steps clearly, no waffling, good closeups, good display of exact Bunnings products in packages - well done and thankyou - this really helped me complete the task with confidence.

A great video, thanks for doing it. I tried to shortcut it by not taking the lower frame right off and ended up in trouble trying to reassemble it all. Your video is spot on and should be followed exactly for the best result.

I also would like to thank you for posting this very helpful video. It helped me with my purchase (from Bunnings) and the installation from start to finish. Removing the bottom of the sliding door frame would have been extremely daunting if it wasn't for your video to show me the way. The whole process went smoothly other than some difficulty I had in removing one of the screws to release the bottom frame. Great end result...cheers!

Thanks for the video.I tried this and it worked. What I found most useful was your comparison display of the parts (new and old), the orientation of the parts w.r.t. the door and the part numbers of the new parts. I found the replacement parts in Bunning and they were the same parts as shown in your video.

Just replaced left and right Stegbar cartridge rollers. Note I didn't loosen the frame.
Remove door and rest on floor so as to access rollers.
Using one hand clasp plastic end clips with a pair of long nose pliers so they are almost together and with your other hand knock the pliers with a hammer. The result will be the cartridge will slide down and away from its original position. Knock down about 30cm.
Next, wedge a piece of wood or a screwdriver handle next to the cartridge. The aim is to loosen the grip of the aluminium frame on the cartridge.
Pull out the cartilage with pliers.
Slide new cartridge in at 45 degrees so that the screw ridge fits into the hole in the frame.
At this point you will need to push and line up the cartridge male 'studs' with the female slot in the window frame. I put a little oil on to make next step easier.
Once lined up knock the cartridge with a block of wood and hammer or rubber mallet. The stud and cartridge will lock into the slot/place.
    Good luck!

Nice to see a reasonably good quality roller assembly that you pulled out of that door frame. I can tell it's fairly well-made. Most of the garbage "Chinese steel" or brass or aluminum crap that have in a lot of these doors is garbage (including the replacements in the big box stores). Ideally, these critical function pieces should be made out of hardened and super-durable non-rusting stainless steel, including the pins and roller wheels. But most manufacturers are super cheap and choose not to spend the extra dollar or two to use better quality parts. So everyone is left dealing with this kind of mess.

I managed to install them without opening the door frame. I removed the fin/head using saw and installed them straight away.

Thanks for the video, but i found that the wheels alone are replaceable without disassembling any single part of the door, since the roller housing itself is plastic and elastic at some point :D

    Nice production, congratulations.
I did not wish to disturb the bottom stile and found the following solution.
Prise the two plastic locking tabs gently from the edge of the door by placing screwdrivers between the aluminium housing and the plastic carriage body. You do not bend the extrusion with Herculean force, just enough to almost clear the tabs.
Then simply tap sharply against the adjustment screw plastic recess on the side of the door using a 1/4" drive short extension or similarly sized drift. When this section pops through the square ally slot, you can then pry the whole bloody thing out... !
    PS I hate overpriced Stegbar.
My sash windows are now dangerous as balance springs gone. It's off to Lincoln Sentry for more. Is this advice worth a beer?

PS Celebrated too early. Partial dissasembly bottom stile is probably still required (as per video) to reinstall new plastic prongs as they won't tap back into channel even with little drift right over them. I did not wish to risk a bigger blow with hammer

Thanks for the video. I have a very similar Stegbar door (with same locks as yours), but cannot lift it up from the track. I already adjusted the roller screws, but only the back part can lift up hith enough. The front part seems to have something at the top as a padding, so it only lift up a bit but not enough. Did you have this problem when lifting? Or do I miss thing?

Apply some lubricant, then unscrew the adjuster (but not all the way) and then tap on the screw head. That should allow the roller to move back enough to remove the door. It's probably stuck because of all the rubbish accumulated over the years. Good video by the way.

The padding is a security feature to stop people lifting the door from outside. Roll the door all the way back then there should be no padding and you can lift it out completely. I have this same situation with my windows and the padding is there by design.

I just replaced the rollers on 2 of my sliding doors, you are doing it the wrong way

  • @jimme2455
    @jimme2455 2 года назад +1

You don't need to remove the whole bottom rail to replace the rollers.
