What a fantastic and clear tutorial on the benefits of both 24fps and 60... You have a gift mate. Really excellent and easy to understand. Only watched this one episode...but have now subbed to the channel. Brilliant 🙌
Try shooting 60fps at 1/60th second shutter. You get the smoothness of 60fps plus close to motion blur of 24. (Actually, same motion blur as 30fps footage)
Thanks for the clear explination. I was looking for why my video editor (ClipChamp) was taking forever to load videos shot from my GoPro and loaded videos from my old digital camera real quick. Looking through the details the camera native fps was 30, gopro was set at 60. Looking at previous videos from my gopro after being run though ClipChamp they're all set at 30fps, must be converting it from 60 to 30 while loading so it takes forever. Everythings shot in 1080P and output the same so I knew it wasn't that. No point in filming 60 if the program converts to 30 and now I know the difference between the 2, I have no need for slow mo, so you my friend just saved me hours of waiting to edit my biking videos
For the shutter speed can you go higher then double of the frames reason im asking is outside when is bright i have to go much higher to expose the image
You can go higher but you will loose motion blur and you'll get a more "staccato" effect for moving objects and subjects and could looks a bit stuttery. For a better understanding of this side effects try by yourself some tests clips at various shutter speeds. You can also have some flickering if you have artificial lighting in your scene if you go above the power line frequency in your area. Usually multiples of your powerline refresh rate are okay. I.e.: Europe has 50hz power lines. 1/50s and multiples of that (1/100s) should avoid flickering, but it really depends on what light you have in the frame, if its LED, sodium, halogen, and so on. To keep your shutter speed low as well as the aperture you can use ND filters to limit the light entering your lens.
I'm new subscriber. Please 🙏 I want to ask. What timeline should I edit my video. My video is about City Walk and tour . I use Gopro and shoot in 4K 60fps what timeline is the best for my kind of video.
Dude, really really awesome advice. Thank you! I finally understand the difference between 24 frames per second and 60 frames per second for cinematic. Ugh I wish I had known this sooner.
Yes. You need to hit sequence on the toolbar once you have your video on the timeline then choose 23.976. He’s just saying he use to do that but he’d rather just shoot IN 24fps instead of downscaling.
a couple things right off the bat, the framerate of this youtube video is 24, just right click and select "stats for nerds" to get the info. Another thing, If you're shooting at 24fps you want to set your shutter at 48, not 50. If you set it at 50, every 48 frames you will have a couple of half exposed frames, and you will have a ton of rolling shutter. If you camera only allows 50 shuter, shoot at 25fps.
Here in the USA, I shoot 60p 60p on a 30p timeline. Because I am kind of a "Run & Gun" filmmaker, this gives me the option to use normal speed or slow it down 50%.
interesting content. If you could give me a piece of advice: I shoot 4k25p from Lumix S5ii and G9ii, which are supposed to be great cinematic cameras for enthusiasts (especially G9ii capable of 800Mb/s). When panning across vertical contrasting lines (example edge of the wall, where on one side wall is very bright and on the other much darker), the edges start literally flickering. When I do it in 50p there is no flickering. Any idea how to handle it?
I am a photographer and this is extremely helpful as I am gonna take the leap into videography... The 180degrees rule, I'd have to research that more in dept.
I am a content creator , photographer, videographer and a drone pilot from GHANA. I love your explanation and I have subscribed. Your presentation was great and helpful. Thank You
WOW. Very helpful video Jayden. I've been shooting everything at 4K/60fps due to the simplicity of it. Now I actually know the difference and for what shots they should be used. Great informative video. Gave it a like and sub fosho. Thanks.
hey bro, nice work you are doing . i am wondering if you could make a video on how you plan you shots for example on what software you do it and the thought process ? ( excel or etc) it will be really helpful. thanks
As someone who just bought a DJI Pocket 3 and is just starting out, thank you for the detailed but easy to understand explanation. One question i have is, what is the difference between switching between 25/60fps, or using 30/50fps? I read somewhere that 25/50 was for NTSC and 30/60 was for PAL. Is this correct? Or does it not matter and just extra options along the scale?
Im a novice at best and a hobbiest at worst when it comes to filming. I backpack and only very recently started filming my trips on a GoPro 10. Always under the impression that more frames would equal a clearer shot, i filmed my entire trip to the boundary waters in 4k60. The video is posted to my channel. Do you think that it would have looked better in 24fps? Virtually all of my shots were real time. There is one moment where we were passing by some water lillys quickly and i noticed that jitter in frames and wonder if 24fps would have made that look better. Any help to improve my filming would be appreciated.
thanks Jayden, you just gained another subscriber ! :) I got a question - I want to film real estate and make some of these "speed ramps" should I shoot in 24 or 60 ? I tried 60 and slow motion was great however speed ramp did look weird..
Hopefully, someone can help me because I still have the following question. Suppose I have different shots, some at 24 fps and others at 60 fps, which I combine for a video. I use the 60 fps footage for slow-motion and the 24 fps for real-time. I always use CapCut mobile, and now the question is: should I export in 24 fps, which I understand as the 'timeframe,' or should I export in 60 fps? My guess from the video = always export in 24 fps even the 60 fps shots?
As always, really good and useful stuff coming out of this channel. I was wondering, what's the name of the software you are using to create the shot list and details-the one you showed in your video?
Jayden.....I Love You Matie.........only now that i undrstand...this meaning........you what....I get crazy.......on how to fix my camera nikon z5........every time I shut the movie....always slow motion........and I am very prostrated....but in your explanation....I am now clear and undrstand to adjust...my camera to correct fps.....thank you you again Mate......kind regards rikki here in Australia
Thanks for the explanation Jayden! So you reckon that shooting 60fps and dragging into a 24fps timeline doesn't have the same cinematic quality as if you were to shoot at 24fps to being with, right? I wonder if there are any plugins for Premiere that can simulate the motion blur of 24fps on footage that was shot at 60fps (but placed on a 24fps timeline)?
You can play with shutter speed that brings in blur to every frame of 60p. If you do that, software can extract 24 frames for each second and present those. Convincingly. It's a good way to remove that soap-opera fluidity.
Thank you so much for this. I've been shooting for a year now only on 120fps and 60fps. Just started trying out 24fps. So I can mix them all together. What program do you use to plan shoots. The one in the intro?
Hey I believe the "The eye sees at 24fps" fact is wrong or am I the one who didn't understood correctly? Also, thank you for the content. Looks great, specially the room set up and colors.
Thank you for your video Jayden, it was very well made and very informative, what would you recommend for a music video? would 24FPS be a a good choice?
Cool video, thanks! Quick question : how would you deal with sound if you want to record in 30 fps and slow down to 24 or 25 fps? (100% rookie question, apologies if this is basic)
I see there is no answer for that one... I would say, it depend your content. 30 to 24fps is a 80% speed, so if it's for a b-roll, someone walking, machine, sport, even crowed cheering or whatever which type of ambiant sound should mostly be okay. Basically, in the case keeping the sync is more important than a non distorded audio. But obviously, in an interview, it would be a big no for me... Just shoot inteviews in native framerate (export framerate). Now, there is an affect that can be cool in some case, if the sync isn't necesary: slow down the clip but keep the audio at 100% speed. In some case it's actually nice, but in this case 80% isn't enough slowmo for my taste. At the end it all depend on whats your video about ;)
Jayden. Thanks for the lesson ! Question : Why is it important to double the shutter speed ? Is it the only way to gain the "cinematic" look and smooth tempo ? Not possible with faster shutter speed ?
But why do I have to have a 24 frame rate timeline to begin with? I can shoot 60 and have a 60 fps timeline? Then no jitter
What a fantastic and clear tutorial on the benefits of both 24fps and 60...
You have a gift mate. Really excellent and easy to understand.
Only watched this one episode...but have now subbed to the channel.
Brilliant 🙌
For me the answer to the question is often answered by, “how much light is there” and “how much data do I want to deal with”
Shooting at 60fps the putting it into a 24fps timeline, when its time to render it, what frame rate should it be exported too?
Much love from Sierra Leone
West Africa
Thnks for your teachings
Stay blessed
What software was showing in the background
Notion
the b-roll and edits in this is too damn good OMFG
Thanks so much Whitney !! More to come for sure 🙏🏼
Jayden whats the planning program you been using?
I've often thought about 60fps in real time and then you'd have to shoot 120 fps and slow by 50% to get slow motion on that 60fps real time
Try shooting 60fps at 1/60th second shutter. You get the smoothness of 60fps plus close to motion blur of 24. (Actually, same motion blur as 30fps footage)
Great video Jayden, Thank you for the exposition. Is it possible for you to also share that shortlist template, I'd appreciate it
what was the shot list app you were using?
Thanks for the clear explination. I was looking for why my video editor (ClipChamp) was taking forever to load videos shot from my GoPro and loaded videos from my old digital camera real quick. SUBSCRIBED! Love the aesthetic! Kudos!
But what if you're speeding it up? I get jerky pans when I speed up drone video ... or when I'm orbiting, etc.
hey! what program are you using for your shot plan?
The intro music is fantastic, can you please share the full track ?
I love this video, thank you for posting it.
Bro u answered all my questions.. tanks .. cheers from LA

Hey, quick question, what program are you using to plan out your shots?
It’s called Notion
2:59 what program is that?
What Software did you use to list your shot list ?
Thanks
That’s what I want to know.
Knowledge with quality.. 🔥🔥🔥
Do you have a template of your shot list?
Very nicely put together video
Dude, really really awesome advice. Thank you! I finally understand the difference between 24 frames per second and 60 frames per second for cinematic. Ugh I wish I had known this sooner.
Can I edit my 60fps clips on a 24fps timline ? I want to shoot in real time but also want my 60fps slo mo clips in the music video as well
Yes. You need to hit sequence on the toolbar once you have your video on the timeline then choose 23.976. He’s just saying he use to do that but he’d rather just shoot IN 24fps instead of downscaling.
this guy knows what he's talking about, really professional, you just gained a subscriber
What software are you using to plan your shots? I saw it in some of the scenes.
Not sure, but it looks like it may be Notion with a template for planning video shots.

So if you’re shooting at 60fps do you slow down in post or just create the sequence at 24fps?
I got this explanation about fps, but how do we edit different mixed fps on single timeline ? I am confused about this as a beginner.

Kinda Notion
What software do you use to plan your shots out? I am just getting into content creation and this would help me out loads.
What app you using for the shot list dude ?
I am a photographer and this is extremely helpful as I am gonna take the leap into videography... The 180degrees rule, I'd have to research that more in dept.
How do you mix different frame rates in the same video?
Love the Video Jayden! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jamie! 🙏🏼
I primary record cars. when recording while driving / roller shots which do you recommend?
do you have a template to share for your notion shotlist? Thanks!
Which app/software are you using for short list/ shot division
I am a content creator , photographer, videographer and a drone pilot from GHANA. I love your explanation and I have subscribed. Your presentation was great and helpful. Thank You
The explanation from your experience was very helpful. Happy New Year!
Thanks for sharing!! Could you please advice why my 4k/24fps looks laggy even on my camera when I shoot it?
Thank you bro, such an incredible tips!
Thank for the lesson ... please help how to edit those type of video bro ....

Love the video mate! Myself starting to jump into video, this has been a big help!
Thanks Legend! Can’t wait to see what you do in the video world!! 🙏🏼
Very helpful video, thanks. Which program are you using for making your schedule?
This is by far the best explanation I've come across on RUclips. Clear and concise.
Thank you,
Amazing video. What software you use for your planning?
id like to know this too

The best video ever !
you have the gift to explain difficult things haha !!
congrats for the video.💛
0:35 what app do you use for your production planning?
What was that app that you used for your shotlist???
Notion!
As always, really good and useful stuff coming out of this channel. I was wondering, what's the name of the software you are using to create the shot list and details-the one you showed in your video?
Love the information on this one!! 👏🏻
Thanks Priscilia! Looking forward to your new videos!
Thank You for the thorough explanation.
Loving the new setup mate! Looks epic! Keep it coming 👌
Thanks Stevie! Always appreciate the support ❤️
Super helpful video! What software are you using for your shotlists?
I use Notion!
I was looking for this comment :P
Wow, it does look more versatile than Taskade 🤔

Awesome video! where do you plan your shots?
Notion!
as easy as that...the most simple yet precise tutorial about frame rates....
What app is he using to organize? That needs to get a video.
what is that programm to plan for which shot to use?
Thanks for the explanation Jayden!

I use to use 30. But now it's 60 from now on. I want the option to slow down or speed up during editing. .
Great video thank you!
What about 3:2 pulldown?
You just answered a bunch of questions for me ~ thanks!
❤ Thank you
Great video. One question: what is the software you show with a list of every shot?
2:50 yeah because you did not use motion blur. You even mentioned the 180 shutter rule? That would be a 1/120 s shutter! I cant see that there!
What was that software for the shotlist?
Awesome video! Thanks!
Is it smoother to adjust speeds in post?
great content
Hey Jim nice video what you using for planning your shoots?
@Andrea Mangano thanks a lot ! :)
You sholud drop that Notion file as a template! I could use it haha
Thank you for your video Jayden, it was very well made and very informative, what would you recommend for a music video? would 24FPS be a a good choice?
If you're shooting for live motion. Yes!
Cool video, thanks! Quick question : how would you deal with sound if you want to record in 30 fps and slow down to 24 or 25 fps? (100% rookie question, apologies if this is basic)

At the end it all depend on whats your video about ;)
Fantastic video man! Would you recommend shooting slowmo one your camera or doing it all post production?
what do you suggest for parked cars?
Jayden. Thanks for the lesson ! Question : Why is it important to double the shutter speed ? Is it the only way to gain the "cinematic" look and smooth tempo ? Not possible with faster shutter speed ?
higher shutter speed reduces the "natural motion blur" that he talks about, which makes 24fps shots feel the way that he's talking about
Interesting content buddy 😏👍🏽
