    a couple things right off the bat, the framerate of this youtube video is 24, just right click and select "stats for nerds" to get the info. Another thing, If you're shooting at 24fps you want to set your shutter at 48, not 50. If you set it at 50, every 48 frames you will have a couple of half exposed frames, and you will have a ton of rolling shutter. If you camera only allows 50 shuter, shoot at 25fps.

    I've often thought about 60fps in real time and then you'd have to shoot 120 fps and slow by 50% to get slow motion on that 60fps real time

    • @iancraig
      @iancraig 7 месяцев назад +2

      Try shooting 60fps at 1/60th second shutter. You get the smoothness of 60fps plus close to motion blur of 24. (Actually, same motion blur as 30fps footage)

    Thanks for the clear explination. I was looking for why my video editor (ClipChamp) was taking forever to load videos shot from my GoPro and loaded videos from my old digital camera real quick. Looking through the details the camera native fps was 30, gopro was set at 60. Looking at previous videos from my gopro after being run though ClipChamp they're all set at 30fps, must be converting it from 60 to 30 while loading so it takes forever. Everythings shot in 1080P and output the same so I knew it wasn't that. No point in filming 60 if the program converts to 30 and now I know the difference between the 2, I have no need for slow mo, so you my friend just saved me hours of waiting to edit my biking videos

      @@Yoko.Kurama compare a normal movie vs their bluray version, you could see that bluray is smooth like taken from a home video cam, because they double the frame rate and enhanced it, you could actually differentiate from your naked eye if it's 24fps or 60fps, since your normal view as a human is close to 24fps, that's why you see a blur effect when someone is fast. or maybe you just don't get the point between 60fps vs 24fps lol

    So you reckon that shooting 60fps and dragging into a 24fps timeline doesn't have the same cinematic quality as if you were to shoot at 24fps to being with, right?
    I wonder if there are any plugins for Premiere that can simulate the motion blur of 24fps on footage that was shot at 60fps (but placed on a 24fps timeline)?

    • @davefink2326
      @davefink2326 Год назад +1

      You can play with shutter speed that brings in blur to every frame of 60p. If you do that, software can extract 24 frames for each second and present those. Convincingly. It's a good way to remove that soap-opera fluidity.

  • @JTroskaTV
    @JTroskaTV 6 месяцев назад

    Wouldn’t it be better to use 30fps instead of 24fps if you want to combine it with 60fps clips? 60fps clips can drop into a 30fps timeline evenly. If you try to drop 60fps into a 24fps timeline, you’d get uneven dropped frames, which might be contributing to the jitteriness. I don’t really know, I just mess with video as a hobby. But it seems like 30fps and 60fps would be more compatible than 24fps.

    I think, to make cinematic videos, yes. 60fps for slowdown, 24 for crispines. But i tested about vloging, 24fps is badddd, very bad. I will stay on 60fps.

    • @TaoCovillault
      @TaoCovillault 2 года назад +1

      🤷🏽‍♂️ How bad ? ... Confusing 😅
      There is a lot of factors:
      - First thing, there is capture framerate and timeline framerate, if you shoot 24fps on a 30fps or 60fps timeline, it could look very bad indeed xD
      Make sure to shoot your A-Roll in the same framerate than you edit and it should be mostly okay ;)
      - Framerate is connected to shutter speed... The standard motion blur that we are all use to love is 180° rule, so twice your framerate. 24fps - 1/50 shutter, 30fps - 1/60, 60fps - 1/120 etc
      If you are above, it's choppy, if you are under it's blurry...
      If you are in auto, probably your camera went above in daylight situations (use ND filter) or below in low light situation (adjust isos or add lights). But that's actually an advantage of 24fps, you can get more light in ;)
      - 30fps is traditionnaly used for documentary, maybe that's a sweet spot, because vlog don't really have to be cinematic, but at the end it depend the framerate you'll export on :/
      The important rule here is, don't put videos that are shots in lower framerate than your edit ^^
      If you shoot 30fps, fine, if your slowmo are multiples of 30 (60fps = 2 times, 120fps is 4 times) it's fine.
      But for sure 24 works if you do it properly ;)

    For the shutter speed can you go higher then double of the frames
    reason im asking is outside when is bright i have to go much higher to expose the image

    • @TheMash84
      @TheMash84 2 года назад +1

      You can go higher but you will loose motion blur and you'll get a more "staccato" effect for moving objects and subjects and could looks a bit stuttery.
      For a better understanding of this side effects try by yourself some tests clips at various shutter speeds.
      You can also have some flickering if you have artificial lighting in your scene if you go above the power line frequency in your area.
      Usually multiples of your powerline refresh rate are okay.
      I.e.: Europe has 50hz power lines. 1/50s and multiples of that (1/100s) should avoid flickering, but it really depends on what light you have in the frame, if its LED, sodium, halogen, and so on.
      To keep your shutter speed low as well as the aperture you can use ND filters to limit the light entering your lens.

    Весьма странный вывод снимать всё в 24 к/с. В случае с кино этот выбор обоснован, поскольку это съёмка постановки актёрской игры и более высокий фреймрейт позволит нам увидеть больше чем нам позволено увидеть, тем самым разрушив иллюзию сказки. Блюр и вся эта мазня в движении как раз и создают нам ту самую магию кино. Но говорить о том, что 24 к/с дают нам наиболее реалистичную картинку -- неправильно! Эффект "каши" в которую превращается главный герой, быстро взбегающий по лестнице или машущий руками в драке, -- далёк от действительности! Как бы быстро ни двигался человек, наш глаз разглядит намного больше деталей чем камера снимающая его на 24 fps. Малая частота кадров и длинные выдержки нужны лишь для художественных целей, для всех остальных случаев это просто не нужно. Да, 60 к/с требуют больше места и мощность компьютера при монтаже, но разница в комфорте для глаз между 24 к/с и 60 к/с колоссальная! И она заметна не только в динамичных сюжетах, но и при сценах спокойных диалогов нескольких людей. А уж про съёмки панорам я и вовсе молчу, на 24 к/с это просто невозможно без желания вырвать себе глаза. Спасибо за внимание.
