I'm an absolute beginner when it comes to WoW and MMOs in general. I've played about 2 weeks now, and it's so damn overwhelming. I feel like I'm just spinning in circles at this point. But I ain't giving up!
Just follow the path from the starter island through battle for azeroth; it's very straightforward and when you hit 60 you'll get a summons to start Dragonflight as I recall.
Ya for new beginners, just follow the quest path, it should always lead you to the next thing to do. If you get lost or are not sure what to do next, check the adventure guide in the bottom right corner (I think that's where it's at)
Im 45 and have been playing since 2008-09 with breaks in between, and I just got back on for War Within. I have absolutely nothing but praise for how the game has progressed. Especially the ability to play with a controller.
@Renfail I was good with the keyboard and mouse but my ps4 controller has changed my whole style of play. I used to be the kind of player that would stand still when casting or attacking, now I play as a hunter and feel untouchable.
Really appreciate your video. I played this game must be almost 20 years ago. I stopped playing when I went to college and never got back into it but it was the only game like it at the time and was amazing. I seen an advertisement for it on RUclips recently and found it amazing the game was still running after all this time. It sure looks very different in your video but I REALLY like the idea of of being able to go back and do all of the old content to catch up on the storyline before I play the new content. I also appreciate that I don't need a top tier PC. Definitely going to buy the game.
I took a very long hiatus for very personal reasons , and the last time I played was actually with you in WOTLK and became a member of your guild. Upon returning to retail, a found a LOT of changes so I consider myself a born again noob. WoW was always fun for me and I've been playing since launch. Great video!
I have been pretty actively playing WOW since vanilla. about 17 years active. I still have not done all of the expansions 100%. There is so much to do in wow, so many things to just see and do. It is a wonderful game. Thanks for the video.
Been playing for over 10 years now & been getting friends to start playing recently. Glad you are having fun, Dragonflight has been great and I'm really looking forward to the Worldsoul saga!
I generally play about a couple months out of each year. Sometimes more. I like watching the occasional video of a new player's experience. It can be amusing (if somewhat painful) to watch somebody freak out at the retail version like Day9 did, but it's certainly nice to see someone gush over the experience as well. I'm glad you got into it. I wish more would, or could, and I applaud Blizzard's realization that they need to cultivate the solo player demographic and work on the new player experience. Delves, in particular, sound awesome. Happy adventuring!
Thanks for the vid, I personally never got truly into WoW when it came out because like yourself, I was on EQ, EQ2, SWG, and so many more. I did play until lvl 60 at one time down the line with some friends (2019ish) but my friends sort of quit and eventually I did as well. Recently I decided to give GW2 another shot but still I've been having a weird itch to try WoW again. As I download WoW again, I decided to check out some youtube and well, your video helped. Haven't tried DF yet so it may be something I purchase after I have settled back into WoW (usually make a new character when I return lol). Thanks again, see yall on MG :)
You can go a LONG way on just the monthly sub without ever needing to spring for the latest expansion :) 20 years of content to sift through, so enjoy :)
Happy Birthday... you mentioned that you'll be 44 in January(?) We are the same age - well, I am actually 45... ANYWAYS! Lol I tried WoW back in 2004, loved it, but life got in the way and I have decided to come back and give it a go. I am SUPER confused and it's been exciting... thanks for your video, helped a ton! ♥ Cheers and happy gaming!
I played for 10 years, but stopped a few years ago. I have just returned to have some low level fun but my laptop burns hot, so i must now buy a new comp / laptop to continue my adventures ! For a new player, the content is huge and very exciting .

I just came back to WOW after more years then I want to say (shows my age). I played a while up until BC then went back to EQ. As a noob to wow again, I find it very confusing and a lot to get to know, especially with the BG's Honor points, Marks, all the different vendors and so on.
Great video! I started playing wow back in 2006 and played till about 2012 then quit as irl started to be busy. Lately gaming has growned on me(again) and invest alot of time to it and after many times of thinking about trying retail wow i finally did after playing also wow classic. So far iam a bit lost but very interested to see how it is and this video sure gave alot of good information of current state! 👍
It blows my mind that WoW is still going so strong after all these years. I raided hardcore in the early days and played the game with everyone I knew. It was a unique experience that will never be recreated in my life, and I'm glad to have those memories. We drop in and enjoy the beginning of expansions before we drop off and it's a fun nostalogia refresh. Legion was probably my favorite since Vanilla, TBC and MoP. Excited to see where everything goes onward!
I used to played this game about 40 hours a week and worked full time (Full time is 40 hours in Europe, between Mon - Fri). You can easily cram in 20 hours over the weekend. It's not that hard if you don't have kids or any other obligations.
@@ScenicD Yea but working full time is 40 hours over 5 days, not 7. I usually played around 20 hours between Monday to Friday and than 20+ hours sat to sun.

I played for years then quit came back and quit etc. I think cataclysm was my last expansion i think not sure honestly. I remember cataclysm though and i missed 2 expansions before that i like that if you buy newest expansion they give you all other expansions before like dragon flight if i preorder and its basically same price as a console game if not cheaper.
You like WoW? Ha! Turn back while there's still hope before you're completely sucked in. Seriously, though, it's awesome to see you as a newbie covering this in such a positive light. It's an awesome game; one that as a lifelong gamer I will admit is my favorite. Sure enough, if I was on my deathbed and offered the opportunity to play just one game before lights out, just one of the great many games I have played and loved, it would be this game.... just let me heal a M+ and see that flurry of green numbers as I fill health bars. Indeed, the game has issues both mechanically and with respect to the way it has been run, and over the years I have been tempted to give it all up, but in the end it is nothing short of an amazing piece of work that I figured I'll just take the bad with the good. Welcome to WoW, and thanks for helping to bring fresh blood into the game.
I can't remember if I commented my situation on your channel, or not, but here it is... *short version* A Win11 update broke my computer beyond repair (2nd time this has happened to me, meaning dead mobo impossible to reinstall Win or replace SSD) so I moved to Apple permanently. New iMac M3 24gb ram. Blizzard supports MacOS decently, and no longer can play EQ, so I've been playing WoW retail. I know Microsoft bought Blizzard, so I hope the MacOS support continues, but for now I am having a great time in game! The game looks great and the new iMac's are perfect for me as I'm in my 50's (on the older side, but still GenX technically) and I'm just done with the "Build your own gaming rig" hobby thing. That's a young person's game IMO. Game options are limited on MacOS, but thats ok with me. As long as I have a decent MMO (WoW) and a good casual turn based game to waste 30min or so on once in a while (Hearthstone) I'm all set. It feels good to not have updates forced down your throat like MS does, and hope it doesn't break your machine every month. Thanks for the tip on using a controller in WoW. I know MacOS is great for running old console emulator's using Blue Tooth controllers. I suspect it'll work fine for WoW. I need to see if Santa will add a new controller in my stocking this year. 😜
I could use some advice, brand new wow player here and I want to find the right server with a decent population...any tools out there to help with this?
@@Renfail Warmode is PvP on, it get's you an buff that is like 10% on xp and gold etc. Mine is permanently on so I'm unaware of any changes but you could only switch it on in the alliance or horde capitals. Org and Stormwind.
@@Renfail Warmode is PvP on. The 2 games are phased from each other. Outside of safe areas like say Dalaran if your guild friend has warmode on and you don't and they are stood next to you in the world, you won't see each other. Phased. Warmode on makes you combat live for the horde or alliance depending who you are and you can be attacked at will by any enemy player. It adds some spice to moving about in the world. You are level 30, you see that horde player coming towards you and hs level is so high he is represented by a skull mark only. ie death to you. Is he honourable though as it's unseemly to kill players beneath you and you don't get honor points for them or the assasins mark. Which if you kill 10 enemy players say in Dragon flight your presence is announced to every enemy layer online who is warmode on. With a big bounty for your head and you are revealed on the map to all. It's cool. My PvE friends find my exploits much fun but they don't want to mix it with the enemy themselves. It's great fun but you gotta take your punches and roll. 5 onto 1 does happen.
hi, I am interested to try wow with my wife, she did like the divinity games much, d4 currently, d3 previously and even d2r, however all was played on the xbox or the controller never engaging with the keyboard, is this possible with the inbuilt wow xbox controller support or the keyboard interaction is mandatory?
@@Renfail ty! so once the setup is done you can just leave the keyboard alone, only to start the game? and one more silly question, the monthly subscription gives access to all the expansions or do I have to buy each of them?
If you set it up that way, yes. Sub includes all but the most current; so in this case everything up to Dragonflight. So you can play 18+ years of content with the Sub, but if you want to do current content you will need to also purchase that@@njannjan3
