This whole album is just one brutal, brilliant, catchy riff after another.

Crazy fact, Ken Owen the drummer suffered an aneurism while petting his cat and had to learn how to move his hands and function again.he still wrote drums after but obviously was never the same

Most brutal mosh pit I've ever been in was a carcass pit at the Gothic theater in Denver early 90's!

Necroticism is one of those albums where on first listen you think , yeah, it's good. But then you play it again, and without realising it, you're sitting on the toilet drumming your feet on the floor to the tune stuck in your head, or whacking your fingers on the steering wheel in traffic to one of the tracks...and then it just subconsciously gets engrained in your brain.

Compositionally Carcass have always been very interestingly complex, especially in the early-mid period (Symphonies, but especially Necroticism). They rarely repeated riffs, and tended to mutate the composition over fairly long tracks, and lyrically were just obnoxiously implausible. Long, brutal, dynamic, but not necessarily actually complex arrangements without weird gimmicky tricks or timings, but that change and grow and mutate throughout their length. Just brutality and snark.

In a similar extremely heavy vein, but shreddier, you should check out one of my all time favorite bands, Necrophagist. They only ever put out two albums, but every damn track is a banger! Maybe check out Fermented Offal Discharge.

1000 beats for hour? Usually we count per minute ;)
1000/60 = 166.6 bpm, it's quick for sure, but not extreme.
