I finally made the decision to dive deep into grasshopper and behold an 11 hour course updated for 2024 uploaded just 2 days before my search. This is my lucky day!!
After finally having the time to watch the entire course, here are my 2 cents on it as someoen who also teaches 3D (even though no one asked): 1) This course is priceless, still a shock to me that it's free!!! 2) The real gold is in seeing a professional at work. I don't know if many people realize how valuable it is to observe the unscripted thought process of someone who's been using a tool for ages. 3) Comedy keeps you hooked on the content. I respect you for your passion. 4) For some reason, I didn't have the OffsetMesh node. Easily fixed by downloading the Ngon extension. 5) The "Weaverbird's Mesh From Lines" node can work, what was missing was to input into the "Maximum valance' the maximum number of edges of a polygon in the geometry. 6) You're a legend I can't thank you enough for existing and being an awesome human.
I just started learning rhino and grasshopper for my job. I can say that this is one of the best tutorials that I've watched, ever. Thank you for uploading this for free!
nothing makes me happier than seeing a youtube notification with your name! I am starting my Masters in Parametric Architecture in Barcelona this October and im trying to go in as prepared as possible, you motivate and encourage me more than you think. thank you for your intellectual generosity.
You're the best teacher one could hope for, and I am so grateful to you. You're helping many students like me who can't afford the overly expensive courses available online. Can't thank you enough.
What a teacher, what a guy...Thank you for your effort and time man. One of those youtube contents which make you want to leave a 1000 likes to the video!
I have searched millions of tutorials about grasshopper but i am not satisfied until I found your videos!I am so happy to be your e-student and you are a lovely teacher!Maybe because you I will apply for Lund university in the future haha.
The best tutorial to learn GH on RUclips, thank you very much for all the effort and knowledge provided in this video. Helped me enhance my professional career
I am not interested in the content of this particular video, but I must tell you that you are the best teacher on RUclips and very generous in sharing information. Thank you, my friend.
You are one of the few people online that do tutorials like this and show incredibly complex applications of the concepts discussed. Stuff that I wanna do but I don't exactly find anywhere else. Absolutely appreciate and love you for doing this!!!!!! ❤❤❤
i absolutely bow down for your efforts and knowdledge you are sharing, really appreciate your hardwork and content, keep going and growing love from india
Thank you so much for this!! I`ve been watching Grasshopper tutorials in Chinese, which is my native language. They are good too, prepared by very thoughtful tutors. However there seems to be an interesting connection between the way of thinking in Grasshopper vs. the gramma of the language in which the tutorials are presented. It makes it so much easier when things are explained in English - probably because it is the language spoken by the Grasshopper developers. Thank you again, for guiding me through this new way of modeling that I once felt was too difficult for me to use : D
The video was my inspiration to start developing grasshopper from scratch. I really appreciate it. I hope you will make more educational videos like this. Best regards.
Recently I watched your rhino course, it is very nice to have this course what I am thinking of doing next also, I commented on it for yt algorithm to support u
Lets go just went through how to rhino course days ago feeling a bit overwhelm maybe cause they do it like the 2nd method that you mentioned and i keep hoping to have a course that explain lots of the grasshopper component one by one since this software actually feels like a language so without knowing individual terms or word its difficult to write a script or paragraph and thank god you are here🙌🙌🙌
Basically all of the tutorials that I've done on this channel have been the second, the third, the fourth part and so on. It's just the first one that was missing :)
1:41:03 this got my curiosity so i had to try to understand bymyself what could mean. I replicate it in GH and i guessed that this curve being periodic, could mean that it's made by 4 kinda virtual segments sharing points to close the curve. So i tried to evaluate the curve and realised that is was kinda right. For periodic case, domain is 0to4 and means that the section of the curve between first and second point it's domain is 0to1, second to third point is 1to2, 3rd to 4th point is 2to3 and finally 4th to 1st point to close the curve 3to4. Dunno if i explained right but if u try to evaluate that same curve u'll figure it out for sure. :) hope it helps
What is the best way for extracting only the outer & visible surfaces of a not complex model? The basic point is to reduce the file size of some 3d models...
Oh view-based culling is a video game engine thing, in rhino you'd need a pretty nasty script. I'd start with isovist node and object property control to see what's the performance when culling objects rather than sub-objects.
Personally I think icon display with name display above the compoent (with plugin), to be the best option some componenets have the same display name, but different icons
Do you have a tutorial on how to apply heat maps or 3D scans onto an object? This tutorial was really helpfuld to understand the basics. thank you for the effort!
Perfect tutorial. Thanks a lot! 4:10:00 - i can't find "Unify Mesh" icon in my GH. Why it could be and how it fix? UPD This is not available in version 0.9, but is available in version 1.0.0007 But in any case there are no Mesh Area and Mesh Volium and so on. How i can turn on this fuctions?
I'd like to thank you alot geddan for the amount of effort you put into the videos its unmatched. Also just a quick question is the tutorial intended for architects also or just general modellers
thq so much sir truly inspired by you your every tutorial is so informative and not charging fee from us wow thq master god bless you i appreciate you alot !!!1
Thanks a lot for teaching. There is one Grasshoper function which I can´t find. (Chapter 6 around 4:25:17): "Mesh explode". Is it because I use Rhino 7? I tried to figure out a similar Node but I can´t.
Hi! Thank you so much for the amazing course, I've wanted to learn Grasshopper for a while and yours seems the most complete tutorial yet! I'm having troubles finding the "mesh explode" tool, could it be an addon/plug in? I haven't watched the whole thing yet, maybe you talk about it later
If I remember correctly - I also show a workflow which doesn't require mesh explode. But either way - if it doesn't come with vanilla Grasshopper, then it should be part of the MeshEdit addon: www.food4rhino.com/en/app/meshedit
Hi Gediminas! Absolutely love the video, 12 hours is insane but definitely necessary! Been looking for this exact sequence structure to learn grasshopper to actually understand the components. I'm missing some components such as the all of what's under the "Rhino" tab in Grasshopper. Are you in Rhino 8 for this tutorial? And could it be that it's missing because I'm on Rhino 7?
Whenever you upload, first I like then I watch. You are more important and influential in my architecture career than any teacher I've had.
Ah, I'm happy to hear that! Thanks :)

IAAC ? I used to bring my students for a study trip there :)
MPDA program in UPC. I will look into IAAC though it seems very interesting! maybe they offer good doctoral programs 😌
They are more of a makerspace that gives out a diploma, but it's a nice makerspace! A lot of interesting people go through it :)

@ 4:23:00 or around there, MESH EXPLODE, is part of MESHEDIT plugin. Took me a minute to figure this out and get it.
so we need to download it and thats why I couldnt find it
Just started this and saw two chapters, this tutorial is wonderful! Thank you ❤
Keep it up! Just a few more to go!

Sharing is caring~
God bless you
Thanks for putting this up!
Thank you very much, we really appreciate your content about Rhino.
11 hours? Wow, that's crazy impressive.
That's how much is needed for the first step. Second, third and so on are shorter
@@geddan damn, if there's a second and third part and so on, your coffee addiction is totally justifiable.

Great to know this my idea after this I will re follow your early live streams from couple of years ago 🤟

Ah, makes sense. It's dealing with sub-segments of a curve!
I just love you bro. 11 hours really? Fucking legend!

Personally I think icon display with name display above the compoent (with plugin), to be the best option

Much appreciated Mr.Ged . Can yu please do a course like this on Dynamo ?
I don't use Dynamo. Don't really see a reason for it to exist with Rhino.Inside.Revit being a thing.. Might be wrong though
