I wish we saw more of her character development, though Gravity Falls was supposed to have three seasons originally, so maybe we could've had more of it.
The simple fact is with only 41 episodes, there are some things that are going to be swept aside. Pacifica is a prime example. Her arc only feels 2/3rds of the way completed (even with the Lost Legends comic) and there was definitely some romantic tension between her and Dipper. (I'm all for unlikely pairings). Had the show gone on for longer, I have a feeling she would have become part of the primary friend circle. I feel like this story may have been better told over 3 seasons instead of 2.
I agree in a way. They could have opened more plot points and finished the series after a bit more time. But if they ever started to drag things out for too long unnecessarily, that wouldn't be good. What happened is what happened, though.
Your commentary is on point. Dipper and Pacifica should have had more dialogue even if they didn't have any romantic chemistry. Their banter was fun to watch, even if it's a cliche enemies to lovers trope. Plus, she didn't get the redemption she deserved. She 100% could have been one of the primary characters, she had so much potential.
Pacifica started as a classic mean girl character whose actions painted her as a genuinely bad person but strait up those two episodes are enough to reveal that her behavior was forced onto her by her parents, she may even have the threat of punishment if she lets her superiority act falter. There is more to her development that dosent even get mentioned in this episode firstly when she says her family name is broken and needs to be fixed she implies that she recognized her name being a sham as a problem and she likely confronted her parents about that and the bell was likely used to force compliance to remove that issue from her thoughts. Then we have that birthday gift scene which is far more significat than you would think for multiple reasons, #1 Pacifica mentioned in the golf episode that receiving something is a handout implying that giving or reciving gifts of any kind is actively discouraged within her family, #2 The fact that she wrapped the gift herself means that she didn't just purchase something and have a servant package it, #3 Having wrapped the gift herself leaves a possibilty that she had to hide the fact she was giving a gift a secret from her parents because a servant might rat her out, ultimately meaning she is likely disobeying her parents for the sake of another persons happiness as she seems genuinely excited for them to open the gift she gave. Also this leaves some credibility to a Dipper and Pacifica ship because if all of that is true Pacifica could potential view Dipper as a savior of some sort who was her path and opportunity to rid herself of the oppressive shackles of her upbringing that appriciation could manifest into her undergoing even more change to win the affections of Dipper and that path would likely involve her bing more humble, appologizing for her past actions, making a promise to both change, and make amends for past wrongs. Dipper could see that and decide that while their relationship started negatively she did in fact genuinely change and is almost a new person deserving of a second chance.
I'm just glad the Book of Bill expanded a bit more on Pacifica, at least to the point that she is steadily trying to do better and eventually adds Dipper's number to her phone
This year I really got into this series and I HATED PACIFICA. When I started watching season 2 my opinion changed… alot… Takes never judge a book by its cover to a whole new level 💀
This is relatable except for me with Inside Out lol. Sorry that's unrelated but hey it's interesting to see videos being uploaded about it now and during my own rewatch too. Proves that this show is timeless. I wonder if the MLP: FiM fandom would have a significant resurge if they released a significant new thing for it, too, or if most bronies are quieter now
Pacifica character design literally have so much potential and yet it's sad that the writer only view her as a "family guy" gag joke type of character on the later season which is kinda sad cause even the "Shut up meg" gag still some what having the love from the writer, this is just harsh and cold
teh really sad part is by the finale pacifica's personality apparently shifted back a little to her previous personality (also her dad being a bill worshipper doesn't really come up again, him trying to ally with bill sounds less like a follower who worships their god and more like an opprtunistic asshole trying to take advantage of the moment, unless I am wrong) and how she ultimately doesn't do a whole lot despite seemingly being important
There was that creepy Bill worshiping tapestry in the Northwest mansion at the end of the episode. With all the shady deals that family has done in the past making a 'deal with the devil' doesn't surprise me that Mr. Northwest was so willing to follow Bill.
Oh crap, it would've been awesome if you talked about that short animation by Mike Inel of this chapter... It's just a few seconds long, but really speaks up for Pacifica's character, though it's an original scene by him. Reminded me of that other fan animation of the car scene. Great video btw.
Aw. That's unfortunate, I wish that more families would be accepting of their family member's opinions (I think that's what family is meant to do after all.) She is rude and I don't like it when she is rude, but I still love her because I see who she really is and she's not really so bad on the inside... It's that her parents have a very bad influence on her and force her to act certain ways around others. But she isn't entirely stubborn in her ways yet and she has a chance to grow and become better.
Did you now that she only is in 6 episodes has a one liner in another and is in one short, which makes me sad because she is my fav character and I ship her with Dipper(Because who does not).
The lack of Pacifica after her redemption is why I like the 'Lost Legends' book! Not sure if you could consider it canon but Pacifica explains that after the haunted mansion incident, she was in 'hot water' with them, which is why she needed to be 'perfect' for their family photo. They most likely didn't allow her to interact with the Pine twins or anyone they didn't approve of because of it, leading her to sneak away to find a cure for a wrinkle and not being shown in the show until the last few episodes(which showed her with her parents). Also, the whole messed up 'ugly duckling' story was told to her the night before a beauty pageant, so her mom(also a beauty pageant winner) scared her on purpose. It doesn't matter that she grew up rich, both of her parents are psychological abusive; her father ringing the bell any time she did something he didn't approve of(and in public which is embarrassing) and her mom who insinuated that ugly people would never be loved to scare her into staying 'pretty'. It doesn't help that she's the only heir to the Northwest family and fortune(now significantly smaller but still rich). I wouldn't be surprised if her parents expect her to marry rich to help 'restore' the family fortune, which could turn really dark for a number of reasons.

I blame Disney for disrespecting Gravity Falls enough to cut it down to only Two seadons instead of letting it have Three, then we probably could have gotten more character development for Pacifica. Also Wendy was already a perfect character, so I'm not upset that she didn't get more character development, because in my opinion she didn't really need it.
I would've enjoyed an episode of Wendy's family being in the spotlight. Wasn't the ghost from the mansion episode also a Corduroy? It all seems like a missed opportunity to flesh out more of the town's backstory due to the lack of episodes.
my opinion, shes a very cliché character, its not the first time we saw a rich kid with parental issues, dont get me wrong i dont necessarily hate her, but i dont really love her either, the mabel and pasifica stuff was cute, dipper and pasifica felt forced...very forced, and she couldve used a bit more screentime, but even if they fixed all of the issues i do have with her, she would still be another rich kid with daddy issues on the list, even in lost legends her story was my least favorite of the bunch, atleast they realized that she didnt get enough screentime but i still dont really like or have connected to her like how some people did, definetly a character that even if she got the potential she deserves, wouldve still been boring
I'd say putting it down to 'daddy issues' is putting it midly. It's not that her dad doesn't love her enough or that he's a jerk, its more ehr dad is the face of the 1% using their welath for their own gains and having no care at those 'beaneath' them and outright abuses his own daughter (with the bell) to get her to fall in line.

@Mehsomeguy oh. Well I still think it would have been better if Season 2A was Season 2, and Season 2B was Season 3
