I love how you talked for 15 minutes about two scenes. As a kid, I didn't understand why mabel offered her a ride, I would have left pacifica behind. I think this not only shows pacifica's perspective on life and how unhappy she is, but also how good of a person mabel can be.
The reason she said "Tell your servant I like his W neck" instead of "I like your W neck" is because first of all she still doesn't see servants as being on her level, but also partly because she might think he doesn't speak English. A lot of people who are "the help" for rich people are Hispanic, and some speak very little English. And Soos does appear to be Hispanic, while the rest of the family is white, so that's probably where her mind went.
In hindsight, it's more likely her parents just ingrained "don't talk to the servants" in her, and it's more her observation that Soos as the Shack's handyman kind of fits that role. She doesn't actually have those beliefs.
@SockieTheSockPuppet I'm not sure she knows that Soos is the handyman. She probably just figured that he wasn't part of the family, and to her, anyone with the family who isn't a part of it is a servant.
The defectors from North Korea to South Korea were asked what is one thing that's better about North Korea than South Korea. They said that while most of their life in North Korea was hell, at least in North Korea kids were allowed to be kids. There were no Hagwons and study dorms and school for 12 hours a day 7 days a week.
Little detail that shows off how awful Pacifica's parents were is how, not only did they leave her at the park with no obvious way home, the celebration they had put together for her was overtly a victory celebration. That, plus leaving her, plus the very harsh "Don't. Lose." creates the vague implications that, if Pacifica had lost, she wouldn't be welcome back home. Sure, they could have easily just seen her winning as a forgone conclusion, and even if they were IMPLYING that she wouldn't be welcome, that doesn't necessarily mean she'd actually be disowned or anything. Just goes to show the mindgames at play in that big, fancy house.
This combined with what we see in the haunting episode where they literally treat her like a dog help explain her character so much. Like yeah maybe if my parents thought so little of me they conditioned me to stay silent at the ring of a bell i would also be incredibly self conscious and outwardly mean. Shes just a kid who’s been conditioned to have to autonomy
Don't forget about the whole bell-ringing thing, and also Pacifica not being allowed to wear the dress she *actually* wanted at the party her parents were hosting in "Northwest Mansion Mystery".
@@alainer0611 She *also* wasn't allowed to wear the dress she actually really liked and wanted to wear in that episode because it wasn't the color her parents wanted.
I also really like the episode where Dipper and Pacifica are like ghost-busting at the Northwest mansion, I think that episode just had lots of nice scenes, and also made dipper realise Pacifica is actually human and not just a robot
i really like pacifica’s backstory! she comes from a family that is privileged and rich. she gets to mingle with the upper class because of the parties, forming valuable connections, have exotic animals as pets and a mansion as a house she seems to have it all but at the cost of having parents are zeroed in on reputation and wealth. they’re willing to lie and manipulate to maintain it. they train her with a bell, like a dog, to maintain her behaviour so that she won’t do anything that would put their reputation at risk. they don’t even allow her to wear a dress she liked because it was not the right colour just a similar one. it really revealed that the reason why pacifica acts the way she does is because of her parents and it made me sympathise with her. it made her a little bit more human.
Yeah. It almost feels like they forgot about her character development in the last half of the season. Even in weirdmagedon, she almost felt like she was back to how she was in season 1.
I would take the road trip episode where they went to other roadside attractions and work it in to S1 or early S2 and add an episode about some wacky adventure of Mabel and Pacifica and maybe Dipper as well in its place imo. That episode although was nice, didn’t fit where it is in the story. I get that it’s a small episode, a reprieve before the finale, but I think another Pacifica episode would’ve been better.
I also like the episode when Pasifica refused to listen her family and kept her family's promise by opening the mansion's door for the ghost men. It was beautiful.
It's amazing how quickly they were able to make Pacifica a likeable character and have it feel natural and not forced considering she really only has 2 episodes across the entire series where she gets any type of character development
I particularly love stories about girls like Pacifica who go through stuff and grow to become better. Or honestly, anybody like her who have arcs to improvement from being a jerk to being less of a jerk and we get to see parts of who they really are. As long as it doesn't get too repetitive or too similar to many things I've already seen, it's another awesome story and another one of my favourite characters.
It’s a simple yet good scene that is just one of the many reasons why Gravity Falls is so good. And we aren’t the only ones that think this scene is good as someone reanimated the scene to fit an Anime style and it goes over everything. Heck it even expands it as it shows Pacifica thinking of how she mistreated Mabel and yet Mabel is still being so nice to her. Her small smile as she takes the bite before the scene ends shows Pacifica has grown slightly. Gravity Falls has such a place in the hearts of many fans and it is small scenes like this that shows characters being characters and growing just adds to it. (Edit: okay so I had paused the video to write this down and he goes over the reanimated scene. I will just delete this pointless comment then)

I remember being like 13 and being pissed after this episode aired about the fandom seeming to do a 180 on her. I suddenly felt like I was surrounded by a bunch of shallow hypocrites. And I took it out the way only a 13 year old can, I made an OC on Google+ to vent my frustrations in a meta way.
Google+ 💀💀💀
@@MrMMMatter It was my first social media, and how I entered the fandom! Lot of art theft there...
Eh, maybe for the majority
Pacifica is still insufferable to me. Can't stand "rich girl is quickly forgiven for being a piece of shit" stereotypes. She's lucky Mabel sees the good in literally everyone
