my fave noodles since childhood :) bakmi gajah mada or bakmi gm has quite long history :) i always have it when i come home to jkt.... ngilerrrr
I've been there for work as a cook. And I guarantee this noodle is the good choice and the restaurant are the best place to eat noodle in town. Even now when I leave from they're company to now work as a hotel chef, I still thinking they are have a great management to training the employee and yeah they have some best noodle with a great taste. Nice to see you try this dude!
dear Mr. Martin Johnson, thank you for vlogging in Indonesia. it brings me great joy to see someone from outside Indonesia doing food tours and daily vlogging of Indonesia. i see you like to do some culinary travelling, so may i suggest you to some great place and menu for you and your family to try. 1st Beef and Blue Cheese in Pancious Restaurant, 2nd Ikkousha Ramen, 3rd Kambing Cairo, 4th Karnivor Restaurant. I don't know if all these foods are available in Yogyakarta or not, but number 1 is available in Jakarta and Bandung, no 2 in Jakarta, no 3 and 4 in Bandung.

pak martin, i dont think you're at lippo mall puri indah, that's just puri indah mall. the lippo mall puri is nearby about 200m from puri mall. it's a bigger mall. and bakmi gm at lippo puri mall is the express version since it's on the foodcourt, so you must order first on the cashier.

Try Bakmi gang Kelinci in Passer Baru, Ragusa ice cream beside masjid Istiqlal, nasi goreng kambing in kebon sirih, nasi campur in jatinegara if you go to Jakarta again
Every time when I come back from a long stay overseas especially the states or Europe; I go straight to Bakmi GM. Somehow I just miss it...LOL

Dear to Mr Martin and Family, Actually there are 2 restaurant in Jakarta that famous for their noodles: GM and Bakmie Naga. They both toe to toe if you talk about noodle. If you and your's family like something that a lot of spice maybe you should try Aceh noodle or mie aceh.

Mr. Johnson, you might want to tweak your description a bit. I am an avid goer of the Puri area, and the mall this video is shot in is actually Puri Indah Mall. It's different from Lippo Mall Puri, which is just a few blocks away. Just wanted to clarify. Thanks :)

cobain bakmie yang non-halal-nya juga Pak Martin ... my suggestion, try Bakmie Aloy ... ada di beberapa lokasi: grogol, greenlake city, kelapa gading, alam sutra and many more
bakmi gm ini enak sekali.. dan selalu ramai. kalau di pondok indah mall, orang yang ingin makan disana harus pakai nomor antri karna saking ramai nya :D

thats how i eat everything with soup in indonesia, no matter noodle, soto, etc, just pour all the broth in :)
One of the food that I absolutely miss from Indonesia
If the soup comes separately, actually you don't have to pour it into the noodle bowl. (You don't mix it.) But you eat the noodle and in between eat the soup with the spoon.
Of course you don’t have to pour the soup in the noodle bowl. But that is how I like to eat it. Is that OK or am I doing something wrong.?
Agree, I like it dry with soup on the side. More tasty - soup dilutes the taste.

I am 70 yrs old and went to a high school nearby the original site on Gadjah Mada street (circa late 1960's). It was just a hole in the wall shop with cooking done outside on the side walk !. They almost went bankrupt when someone spread a rumor that the reason it tasted so good was because they used baby brains for the soup. Crazy !. The other famous noodle shop at that time was Bakmi Gang Kelentji, near where I used to live. Greetings from Los Angeles.

A lil bit advice for you Mr. Martin, try the broth and noodle 1st before adding sauces so you can taste the original taste of it. And I really wanna stop by and say hi but unfortunately I'm not in Jakarta right now so I hope you guys have a really good time there :D

I love their noodle with black pepper chicken. Though Bakmi GM is a little expensive compared to other noodle houses in Jakarta. We'll be waiting for your food review at Abang Adek, please don't feel pressured to get the 100 chilis. We want you to enjoy your vacation while in Jakarta :)

but i think the best non halal noodle in Jakarta is Bakmi Abun, ada di Pasar Baru dan Kelapa Gading. Harus coba kalo masih ada waktu Pak, dijamin ketagihan hehe..
