How to manage to keep the club in front of me, while turning during the swing. It is so easy to turn faster (and shift the weight to the left too early) in the downswing, which moves the club behind me.
Yeah calling out the miss hits direction after showing the fault gave me instant stuff to work on .though im probably doing a little bit of every mistake he mentions i inow now im probably too close and not turning body enough …out of 3 shots ill have one dead middle straight ,one high crazy slice, and one low left snap hook type shot … and i never really thought to much about distance away from ball once i found a distance i made contact everytime …long ago id wiff now and then with long clubs,so i got closer …

I cannot thank you enough for pointing out the distance to the ball error (7:32). I never realized how differently I positioned myself with different clubs. I am now using the "pointing at the belt buckle" distance to check. It has made an incredible difference to pay attention to this and get my hand in the same place every time. A thousand thank you's from a slowly improving golfer.

I am a senior long term double digit hcp and watch a lot of U tube golf instruction most of the time to focused on the secret detail that does nothing for me but set up another compensatory move to my swing. I would like to see your lesson tee, how you evaluate and manage the person’s problem correction. A 10 minute max video that has been edited from your hour or so lesson giving the details, etc. Your recent Flip lesson would be an example but edited and better filming(closer has already been suggested).Selfishly I would prefer senior instruction lessons 😊. Finally do you offer video lessons? Coach Ed you represent “Show Me state” well keep it going.
1984 US Open at Winged Foot. Practice range. I stood behind Seve Ballesteros. He was at the extreme left of the range. Hitting 4 irons landing mere feet away from people parking their cars next to the range. Amazing to watch. Later I saw him say in an interview. That he never looked at the ground. That's where all the trouble is. Bunkers, water. He looked at the piece of the sky where he wanted his ball to go through.
Thats so cool…guess thats another big difference between me and a pro (there are many 😜) i always see the bunker , woods , water 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️..-probably started from the many times my ball went there lol

I can't thank you enough. It's too late for me to be a 'feel' player. I like technical explanations for how to hit the ball correctly. Everything you say in your videos really resonates with me.
This video changed my game. For anyone struggling with consistent contact, there are 2 huge things you can take from this video that might revolutionize your game: 1. Don't over bend that right elbow. Reaching back further for more power had the opposite effect, and it creates inconsistent ball striking. 2. Keep the hands in front of the chest. This sort of builds off of my first point, but it allows you to stay really powerful in the downswing with less of a backswing.
Three months later: I'm making improvements but have really been struggling with my driver and woods- hitting right and slicing. Thank you for explaining the over-reaching in the back of the back swing that is causing me to get the club head stuck in back. Your simple, clear instructions are exactly what I need. Thank you so much. Golf can get very frustrating for me but I'm not giving up. Your instruction gives me confidence to keep trying.

I would like to hear your instruction on the release, and perhaps some ideas of how to fix a poor release! I have struggled with this since I began, early extension, chicken wing arms and staying back without a proper follow through! Wow so much good information. I am a slicer with my long clubs 3,5 wood and driver. I will film my shots and find which slicer I am but after your explanation I think I fall in the club not swinging back in front of me and never catching up… at least now I know what to look for, thank you so much. During tournaments I close my stance 30-45º to hit the ball straight; I do want to change that. Thank you very much for taking the time to share your wisdom.

Would like to hear your thoughts on keeping the spine angle through the ball since all I hear about is the 50ish percent shoulder angle being the target for proper swing path .
Also a lot of instructor never talk about and is very common slicer is high hands. From early extension or trying to “whip” the hands for speed end up having high hands.
I have watched this and I believe I have picked up a ton of good information. So many things you mentioned I know I do! Can not wait to get home today and start trying some of these tips. Followed for sure!

The opening “Tip”/ “mistake” of hands getting ahead seems to be my latest fault .. going to range shortly to try and work out my latest case of the miss hits 😬. So , i am early to this video but I’m curious if I’m trying to get the club head to the ball first like it needs to ….. how do I not start flicking my wrists at least a lil? That was my old swing that I’d have some luck with , but struggled w consistency… lately I’ve been trying to get a flat or bowed left wrist , for obvious reasons… and this where I’m getting hands ahead at the ball like you show .. assuming I’m correct in this mistake I should be able to work it out today … thanks for these no nonsense explanations … not trying to get everyone to swing exactly the same , “correct way” is very helpful … most of us need to work out our own swings for our circumstances not completely change them.

@@TheGolfSensei I worked on the range this morning on it and when I did hit more fairways. Still need more work as I seem to have e lost some distance. Drives were 165-185. Usually right at 200 but not consistent in the fairway.

Wow I have been playing for a while and I just realized I AM standing to close to the ball. That would probably be a good reason for those shanks and slices. I never feel like I have room and didn't even realize it till now.
So when I do the distance from the ball checkpoint. My arms should be directly below my shoulders? If I am looking down at my arms at address it almost looks like my arms are almost outside of my shoulders (extended)
I agree with everything he said - nice lesson - BUT I would ask the instructor here about “sequence.” A golfer, I believe, can make moves in an incorrect sequence and that will cause a too-steep over-the-top arc of the club. That with cause pulls, possibly pull hooks or pushed shots too if the golfer tries to “save” the shot will hand/arm manipulations. I drop my right shoulder down “vertically” keeping my back to the target as long as reasonably possible. If I don’t do the right shoulder vertical drop move as part of the transition off the top, I’m going to have problems. I would ask this instructor if with good sequencing his advice here works, but with bad sequencing nothing is going to work? Does he teach sequencing and what’s his advice on that?
Could easily be a half dozen videos. As a viewer I only expect what the title says, this went far beyond. Anyway great instruction and liked and subscribed 👍
How in the world can you say most slicers have their hands too far forward? That’s crazy. Most slicers and throwing the clubhead WAY early and have a massively extended lead wrist with an open face and a left path.

this is great advice. Its taken countless dry swing range days and recording my swing to realize that my takeaway and backswing was awful.
