A 2x3 or 2x4 is more than strong enough IF you re-position those jack stands. Both jack stands should be moved in as close to the frame of the bike as possible. That way there is very little distance between the stands that the wood is actually supporting the weight of the bike without support (jack stands) directly under the wood.
Jacks have a habit of losing pressure overnight. I found out the hard way when I left my Triumph up on a trolley jack. It's only good for lifting not for holding.
I would not recommend for a heavy motorcycle, most street bikes are to Low for this technique but your bike is obviously OK. Seems perfectly rational Idea, but would find something else other than an old 2x3 board as a cross member, could possibly crack and ruin the whole day. Something made out of steel perhaps. That said I would have done the same thing when I was younger, but am getting old and think to much! I will always adopt a new and better idea. You have good ideas so keep making your videos please. Good Luck
It's probably 2 bolt holding your pipe to the frame and 2 holding pipe to manifold to pull those pipes out and do the same. If you plan on cranking bolts off have someone hold the bike or ratchet strap the front down
With the shortness of the kickstand on this bike, I can see why you did it this way. Still, I'd be pretty surprised if this thing didn't fall over on you if you're removing the back wheel! If you have a Harley, the kickstand is a lot longer, so you can just place the jack beneath the back end (but in front of the back tire), then jack the back wheel off the ground. The longer kickstand and the front wheel provide your two points of stability, the bike will obviously still be at a lean, but far more stable than what you have here. Just sayin.

Great idea. I would leave the jack somewhere in the middle, clear of the oil pan. To keep wood from stressing.

This is exactly what I've been looking for.... Thank you

This is great, ima try it. I need to do a belt tension adjustment and didn’t wanna spend $ on equipment. Il use what I got, ty.
I'd use 2" or 3" inch channel iron. 2x4 wood is an iffy choice and can ruin one's day.
Iron can damage the underside of your bike
Thanks! Have a KLR too and don’t want to buy a proper moto jack
Great idea...I will use a piece metal channel or at least 2 2x4 nailed together on their edge rather than on the flat of the wood.👍
I feel this can work on my 97 Honda shadow vt 600 I'll see how this works thanks for showing me
Good Idea. I'll try it for rear brake change.
And pray the wood dont break!
How do you jack up a bicycle with a car jack?
I wish it was that easy! This doesn't work when your pipes are lower then the frame. :-\

You ate exactly right!
Thanks I will be using this method tomorrow. Had this idea n my head
Thank you so much for this🙏🏽
I would still keep that jack in the middle. I wouldn’t trust that wood. Maybe a 2inch square tube or something would be better.
Hey man, do you remember what tires were on it in this?
I'm not sure. I've changed the tires several times since then.
What a smart idea love it

I have used that method to remove the front and rear wheel quite a few times. I'm sure it won't work for every bike though.
This was great! Thanks!
Legal, boa idéia, gostei do cachorro acessor.
Thank you
Seems reasonable but it'd switch out the wood every year or so.
This way is not safe. Don't do guys, like this. Just install center stand on your bike, if its possible or use lift jack for motorcycles.
thanks man
Great idea!
Nice now clean that swingarm up
Sweeet idea
Brilliant
I wouldn't trust this to a $20 k bike....maybe a dirt bike or your Kawa but not my bike, good luck b safe
jedicazador if you have a $20k bike you should probably just buy the $100 Moto jack...
what a prick ... no cares about ur 20k POS ...
If you got 20k to drop on a bike, why are you looking at this video?? Don't have money left after buying the bike?
ya skipped a step ...
Oh hell no.
Shake the bike
