Barry Manilow is a wonderful person and a great singer to he's been through so much I'm so thankful for him to be able to see him in person thank you Barry Manilow for letting my memories live again wonderful memories some where down the road maybe I can get the chance to share them with you ❤❤❤❤
I've watched Mr. Manilow in rehearsals. He's a perfectionist and a bit prickly. Nice to see that Drew is not draping herself over him like a bedspread.

I would say Linda Ronstadt is the greatest of that generation. Granted Streisand is 4 years older. However, Linda's voice was hugely versatile and had a huge range. I realized that when she sang Gilbert & Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance. And a whole bunch of other disparate genres extremely well.
Scrolled down before commenting to see if anyone else had mentioned Linda Ronstadt. Just yesterday listened to her live performance with Nelson Riddle. Listened to "Hasten Down the Wind" on the way home from babysitting today. On the agenda tomorrow: Trio with Dolly and Emmylou.

linda was a good singer, hardly as versatile, pure or emotive as streisand. Tone-wise Linda had a "pee wee herman-like" twang too it that was annoying.
I don't think Ronstadt is a better singer than Streisand, but she is definitely underrated. Ronstadt is one of the greatest singers who ever lived. She can sing any genre (like streisand who was doing all the standards and classical stuff before Ronstadt) and her range is crazy. Ronstadt didn't move into film in a huge way like Streisand. She was truly the template for the Pop diva we have today.

@@maxlinder5262 Also Sarah Brightman, Whitney Houston. Sooo many greats! He just saw Streisand in person as a kid and has been in awe ever since.
But personally, I definitely think she's one of the greatest that has ever lived. And I think one can say that, even tho' acknowledging all the ones we've never heard, because at a certain point, it's really pointless to even try to compare them. Their individuality of technique is probably only what distinguishes between them; not their greatness.😉
He's not wrong. There have been other great singers, but none can really match the combination of her purity of tone, range and ability to interpret a lyric. Garland was wildly charismatic live and brought great emotion to her performances, but her voice was scratchy and husky for much of her career, due to drugs and booze. Singers like Whitney and Mariah had great instruments at the peak of their careers, but could never match Streisand when it came to interpreting a lyric. Streisand has it all - and has maintained it for six decades.
Urgh. Why can’t she ask a question without saying the word “Like” so much? Learn to interview properly!!!

She is the greatest singer? Hahaha and yet she is not known internationally, outside of the USA no one knows her , I had to google her name I am 36 and never heard of her.
Barbra’s Career started around 1961-62, and has been going ever since. So I would say , the WORLD 🌎 knows who she is!
So when you Googled, did you notice she has 31 platinum albums? More than any other artist except Elvis (have you heard of him). She's had a #1 album every decade since the 60's. She held the record for #1 albums with 11, until she was passed by Taylor Swift. She's won 2 Oscars, 5 Emmys, and 10 Grammys.
That's a ludicrous assertion. Her albums and movies have all been internationally successful, from the very first to the most recent.

I doesn't mean she is not known. It only means you don't know her. I'm your age, I live in Eastern Europe and I've heard about her since I was 6. I don't think I know people who haven't heard of her. Just open your eyes :)
One of the worst shows and interviewer on tv…I do like Barry but Barbra is not the best singer lol….ill take Olivia, Newton-John and Karen Carpenter and Helen Reddy over her any day of the week.
