- Thank you for checking out my review of the Hyper 7 keyboard! I've been using this board for a while now, and it's easily one of my favorites. I really recommend joining the Mechboards discord if you are interested in this keyboard, or if you have any more questions about the 4th generation Hyper 7 coming soon. Its full of helpful people who answered a lot of my questions as I was putting this keyboard (and this video) together.
The QMK firmware is very hard to get working, you need to build your own programming environment and learn how to code keystrokes to really make it work, and I'm really not the person to tell you how to do that becasue I barely understand myself. I still haven't gotten the unicode characters to work totally right unfortunately, but the macros come in pretty handy.

it's such a crazy keyboard...i love it!
New version of this has just been released with traditional 1/4 key offset on second row and a 7u space bar, also now has a fully enclosed case option.

i'm pretty sure the 5 million rating is not because they stop working after 5 million presses, but because nobody really bothers testing for more than that. that's why 90% of mechanical switches mostly only state a generic 20-25 million or something, even when some of them stop even after a few days of working in the worst cases. and probably kailh just trying to be on the safe side because it's a new design and they don't want to be liable IF something goes wrong with them

Would love to get one. Hope you upload other >100% keyboard. Its a niche without much content given the diffidulty to get othem and low demand.

As someone who uses a split sub 60 key setup, this gives me physical pain. But, to each their own.
that spacebar why tho
The new R4 version has an option for a fullsize spacebar, which I opted for.
Does it mean that the Hyper 7 is not really suitable for secretaries and other folks doing touchtyping? The ½ key offset (instead of ⅓) and the very short spacebar are clearly disadvantegeous for many users, I'm afraid.
Ortholinear keyboard users are almost exclusively touch typists. Seems like touch typists can adapt to adjustments to the row staggering, as long as they can find their base position on the home row.
