  • Clickiez finally came to my door after ordering them in February, and they've impressed me so far. I'm not against clicky switches in general, but usually Linears are my top pick followed by Tactiles. I've typed on Cherry Blues before, own some Box Navies, and have a few other individual clicky switches laying around as I show here in my review. The Clickiez take the Alps style click leaf and provides us with a readily available supply of unique MX style clicky switches. Click jackets and click bars are usually what I think of when someone mentions clicky switches, but the click leaf has quickly become my preferred mechanism for clicks after using these switches.
    Unfortunately, the big talking point about these switches is the price. They are insanely expensive for a switch. I was interested enough to just go for it, but I think a lot of people are going to be dissuaded from purchasing these because of how expensive they are; and I don't blame them. $117 pre-tax and pre-shipping is ridiculous. Do you want a board full of Clickiez, or an entire Bakeneko kit? I understand in the hobby we pay a lot for stuff like keycaps, but I don't think that provides reason to settle for jacked up prices. Clickiez are a unique choice for MX switch users, but there's no competition against them right now. If you want to try this style of MX clicky switch, then you either pay the premium or wait to see who offers something similar in the future. Only you can really decide what's worth it for yourself and within budget.
    Price aside, I like the Clickiez (specifically the 40g). That's about all I really have to say, they're a really nice clicky switch. They're really tactile in my opinion, and the lighter variant is a lot more comfortable to type on for longer periods of time for me. I would recommend trying them out yourself if it weren't for the price.
    Thanks for watching, as well as reading my thoughts on these switches. See you in the next one!

    This was the exact comparison I was in search of, MX Blues vs Jades vs Clickiez. Clickiez are on sale currently but still comes to 3 times the price of the Jades.. ouch. Thank you for the video!

    I have some of these as well, and I do have to say your mic captured the sound near perfectly. These are 99.9% exactly what mine sound like in hand and in a keyboard.

      Thanks! I need to find the sweet spot for the gain, my levels seemed fine going in but I think the audio came out a little hotter and had a little less headroom than I would have preferred.

    Any thoughts on the comparison between weighting for the Kailh Box Jades? I want to try the Clickiez, but I’m not too sure whether I should go with the lighter or heavier ones

    • @TyKeys
      @TyKeys  Год назад +2

      The 40g will be more in line with Box Jades in my opinion, the 75g Clickiez are pretty heavy and more fatiguing to use.

    I'm interested in getting the Clickiez 40g, but I'm concerned I might find them TOO tactile or fatiguing to press down. Do you think they feel as heavy as a Box Jade or a Box Navy, or a little lighter?

    • @TyKeys
      @TyKeys  Год назад +4

      They are extremely tactile, but I don't think they're as fatiguing as a Box Navy since the spring in a Navy is heavier. I'd say it's more in line with a Box Jade in terms of effort. The 40g are manageable but the 75g are definitely too much for me to use across the whole keyboard. It helped to have the 75g on modifiers to help the return of the key press, especially the spacebar.

      @@TyKeysi use 72g linear switches, im not too familiar with the feel of clicky switches, would the 75g clicky switch be compatible to the 72g linear switches?

    • @TyKeys
      @TyKeys  9 месяцев назад +2

      @@iamNazrak for the Clickiez there is minimal pre-travel before getting through the click, which (based on Zeal's force curves) peaks around 105g for the 40g variant, and 110g for the 75g variant. Once you pass through the click itself, that's when the remaining ~2.5mm of travel reflects the spring weighting of a linear (with regard to the force curve). However, in actuality you're already pressing hard enough to get past the tactility of the click, so you're gonna bottom out fast regardless.
      For reference, 60g 22mm springs are my sweet spot for linears, but I've gone up to 72g 17mm with the Zepsody Bluebonnets (which I enjoy). I prefer the 40g over the 75g Clickiez because I find the 75g more fatiguing to type on for a long period of time. Your preferences may differ from mine though, given you like using springs 12g heavier than I do. For what it's worth, I found 75g to basically be a necessity on the spacebar and modifiers to have strong and consistent returns on the key press. The price is brutal for these switches, so I completely understand the careful decision making. I hope this helps!

    Are they better than Kailh Box Jades or Pinks? Those two are my favourite clickies atm

    • @TyKeys
      @TyKeys  Год назад +2

      I wouldn't say better exactly, just different! Everything is preference at the end of the day, but I do think they bring something different to the table for MX clickies compared to click jackets and click bars. I personally enjoy Clickiez the most, then something like jades or box whites, then blues.

    Wow looks like mx style clickeys are finally catching up to vintage switches in terms of tactility but the price $1.50 per switch is kind of steep this will most likely be reserved for dedicated enthusiasts in the hobby. For most people who want a more expensive switch a franken is probably a better bet unless you like clickeys
