- I show how to install subwoofers into a car with the factory radio in my 2010 Ford Fusion. I use 2 NVX VSW124v2 subwoofers, the Audiocontrol LC2i, and the NVX JAD1200.1 amplifier. I run 1/0 Gauge power wire and 14 gauge speaker wire. I built the box with a volume of about 3.6 cubic feet and tuned to about 32 hz. Hope the video helps with your install!

Well done. Always neat to watch someone else do it for different ideas. Super satisfying to do an install and fire up that bass for the first time!
there's a lot of different ways to do it man but looks like you did a good job and a good video-props
5 speed fusion? You’re BatMan!! Super rare car, but will last forever!!
6 speed**
6 1/2 speed
Pretty cool tutorial. I miss the good old days of doing this type of installations. but damn that's a lot of trouble to get to the head unit.
Just wanna day thanks for the vid!!! Made my install on my 2012 soooo much easier!!!!!!
I'm putting a sub under my seat, this will help me a lot, already have half the work done before I start cause I need to replace by e brake lever. I laughed when I saw your lanyard cause I have the same one on my keys.
Just got my 2008 fusion with the 5 speed! They are incredible cars
where’d you run the power cable through?
Nicely done, clean work done right!!
Thank you so much for the video, clirify perfectly how to do, thank you my friend!!!
No lie i think this is the best tutorial especially for such a tricky topic ive ever seen
Hey Raven, I appreciate that!
Awesome fusion. I was actually looking at one exactly like that lol
I loved my11 fusion, great car
Great video! Full of the details✌️☺️😎👀
Newer amps from Audio Control include GTO, great turn on, which activate your amp power through sound output from your speaker wire, disregarding having to run a remote wire to the head unit. Also they include AccuBass to restore bass from rolling over the higher you increase your volume as many newer vehicles have pre-installed to keep from damaging cheap stock speakers. Hope this helps anyone.
Nice diy
Damn bro, you and I both have a 6 speed fusion! They are honestly so rare around where I am I’m the only one hat has one in a 1000 mike radius, they are so nice
They arnt rare and mike mush be jealous
Got my 2011 6 speed last year and got told they were super rare didn’t believe the dealer till like 2 weeks ago when I finally seen another one
They are rare. If you look at how many were produced in comparison yo overall production, the the numbers point to rare. I stoll have a 2010 6 speed and love it
You’re a pretty pro dude
Great job
This applies to hybrids also! Just don’t expect any large subs.
You can always wire straight into your rear speakers as well would've been a lot easier and a lot less speaker wire you had to run all the way back
Wich wire is the remote connected to
MrCupcakebear1 same what do you connect the remote wire to
LiveToRide directly to the factory amp is what i found with a testor. It helps to have another person when not only testing for power but also knowing wich wires turn on and or off with the ignition
Same thing i did... Thanx for the reply.. Much 💘.. Im i lil typsy.. But great video. And the sportgot hit by a semi.. And had a reinstall on chvy malibu.. Fckkk..
Agreed chase Coleman!! Exactly what I did. And the power and ground to the amplifier as well. Works great!
Not bad check my system on my fusion good work by the way
Nice bass man 😂😃😂😃👍✌️👌
You may need to turn down the 'bass' control in the factory head unit to avoid hitting its built-in limiter, which is only there to protect the factory speakers. The bass is still "there" in the signal so if you tweak the crossover frequency in your subwoofer amp just right, then it will pick up right where the 'bass' EQ leaves off. This will reduce the distortion coming from your door speakers because they are no longer working as hard, and you're not hitting the factory limiter with your bass signal. Otherwise great demo and I might just have to do this in my 2010 Fusion SE with Sync.
Idk if you still have yah account but what’s the right measurements for a amp with factory radio?
This is beautiful. Just picked up one in Silver and I like the stock bass......but it could use a boost
big trunks
Wonder if it would complicate things if in my fusion I have the Sony 12 speaker factory system where you mounted your amp is where the Sony factory amp is located at I was considering doing the same but I’m not sure
Well done
I wish I would've seen this video last year before I installed my subs and amp hahaha. I eventually figured it out, the only difference is that I wired my line out to my rear speakers that are already in the trunk
witch wire was pos and neg for the rear speakers with sony audio system.
@@romanhidalgo3862 wondering the same thing
Iv never seen a fusion in Manual trans that's cool
My first gen fusion has a 5 speed in it too, nice getup for the modest amount of power
2013 and 2014 they had 6 speed manuals. 2014 was the last of the manual fusions.
@@justaguynamedmax8207 I have one ('13). It's great!
@Konrad Gajda Ive seen a few of them people hang on to them
Konrad Gajda umm, no it won’t. 🤪
I got 2011 Mercury Milan premier with the Sony navigation system in it.. it has an amplifier in the back behind the panel. I wonder if that's the same as your system or does it got a different wiring? I want to go with the lc2 pro
That shit hits. Thanks for the video
Does the head unit got an outlet for the subwoofer ?
Can u use the rear sub speaker wires?
Damn that bass shattered his phone screen!!!!!!
You done it the hardest way possible lol
would it work on an 08 fusion???
I have the same car sti4 but automatic, didnt know it came in standard!
This work on.ford escape 2009 xlt with sync aswell
You don't need to drill through no metal to get a wire in the car. You take that installation down and look up to the left of the column your see a white plug plastic you can put a hole through it. It's about 1.5-2 in wide. I found it while looking to run power for my trailer wire converter.. I just wish I could find out something on that 2011 Mercury Milan premier Sony navigation amplifier wiring. Life which one is the subwoofer output so I could hook lc2 pro to the subchannel.
Where did you grab the remote?
You only used a 2 channel converter??
Idk how to reclamp the side pieces on the lower door side (where u ran the wires). I’m havin an issue
what did you do with stock amp?? I'm having trouble with my Rockford fosgate amp overheating. I have 300 watt adapter. thinking about bypassing but IDK with the interface in there.
I don't have the premium system so there was no separate stock amp to deal with. If your amp is overheating, make sure it's well ventilated, and check to make sure the amp is rated to handle the resistance you have (1,2, or 4 ohms?). Your amp should also not have to be turned all the way up, so double check your settings. You could also mount a fan to cool it off.
Whats the deference between the lci1 and the lci2
Could you do a sub install for a 2008 Ford Fusion like this?
Which is the remote wire hook up
I am planning on doing the same setup on my 2010 genesis. instead of tieing in to the front speakers would I be able to tie into my stock subwoofer?
Mason Stevenson yes, that's what I did to my car and it worked perfectly fine
The ground wires on the output converter, do they go to the ground on the amp or to the frame ? Or both because the one I purchased has two ground wires
Robbie Robinson I would follow the instructions that came with your specific unit. It wouldn’t make sense to have two separate grounds, unless you’re talking about negative speaker terminals
Do you know which wire corresponds to each speaker/other functions in the all audio connector? Wiring diagram? TKs
999MAO999 I explain which wires are the speaker wires coming from the harness, you could easily find the positive and negative with a multimeter, other than that I'm not sure of the other wires.
Where did you run the remote wire ?
*I hate when they dont fucking respond, like wtf is the point of a HOW TO, when you arent going to help*
@IDABAYAREA650I if you have a Line Output connector that has a remote wire on it all you do is run the remote wire from the LOC to the amp. It sensed the power signal from the speaker wires.
Senses*
@@IDABAYAREA650II made this 7 years ago, cut a dude some slack
I did everything the same way except I connected my loc directly to the speakers wires behind the radio. And my sub sounds weak but my amp is all the way up
Dammit got that trunk knocking...wish my gf would let me put bang in our fusion lol....clean shit tho bro 💯
Get your own car and you can
Where you ran the power wire, is that the only spot to put it through ? And how did you know what wires were what on the back of the radio ? Thanks
You can run the power wire anywhere you’d like, I just found that spot to work well. You could try looking at diagrams online to get an idea for the wires, or probe the back of the connector and read voltages.
My understanding, is that the LC2i can handle up to 400 W. So let's say I want to amplify my front door speakers and add a single 12 inch sub. Let's say my two door speakers would take up 120 W RMS. Would that leave only 280 W of power and I could put through the LC2I from a second amp to my sub woofer?
The purpose of the LC2i is to take the high output signal from your radio and turn it into a low level RCA signal that your amp can use. You don't run the amplified signal through the LC2i because that would be redundant. Does that help?
do you have bluetooth calling? my car does. before i do this i need to know did this interfere with your bluetooth calling? since most bluetooth calls go through front speakers. did this affect yours if you have it?
Doesn't effect Bluetooth calling at all, everything works as usual
Quick question if you ever see this, do you remember where you put the ground for your RC2i, I am having trouble finding a spot
Pretty sure I used the same ground location as the amp, or daisy chained from the ground terminal on the actual amp to the LC2i
very nice tutorial i have 3 12s and a few amps i was gonna install in my 2012 fusion sport. how did you mount your box back there?
I used velcro on the bottom to keep it from slipping around, it works well.
+XxkristofpopxX how much will u charge
Would have been nice if you showed us what wires to hook up to the LCI deal but good video overall and even though it’s missing steps I just wasted 100 dollars extra and still got no sound I’m an amateur and was way to dependent on your video
i have a 2012 ford fusion and i bought the pac line out converter the sni-35 im looking for a good way to run the remote wire to my amp to tell it to turn on seeing as the loc doesnt have a remote... any help. also the car doesnt have an acc line i was thinking of tapping into the 12v constant and putting a toggle switch on it?
Milktittiesclutch1 a toggle switch would work, it probably would have been easier to just get the LC2i but whatever you prefer. I don't know of any easily tapable accessory outputs.
already bought the sni-35 didnt realize there was no remote woulda bought the better one. i just cut out the cig lighter in the bottom of the dash and put a toggle switch there, only use it for car charger and i got the one inside the center console. boom bam got it
What color wire is the 12v constant?
So much work compared to installing in my last car
CAN YOU SHOW ME HOW YOU CONNECTED THE WIRES AFTER YOU SPLICED😩
Hey Do you have ambient light in your car pre installed by Ford when you buy it?
Sidhant Sharma I bought the car used, but yes I believe the lights were factory installed
What did you use to power the lc2i? Does this drain battery with Amp always being on?
LC2i only turns on when it sees signal from speaker wires, doesn’t seem to drain battery since I’ve had this system set up
im having a distorted sound? does it matter what radio converter i use. i also have sync
Yes it matters what LOC you use. Audiocontrol has some of the best quality LOCs, so I highly recommend them. Check your connections to make sure nothing's loose and it's properly connected. If it's still distorting, make sure you have a clean signal from the radio, and check the settings on your LOC and amp.
What'd you hook up your 12v remote turn on for your amp??
@Ej Matranga radio antenna trigger
Got everything wired from. What I saw in video. Just didn't see anywhere in video where u pulled power for converter.
I brought the big power cable to the amp straight from the battery, and took power from that cable to power the converter.
Where did you hook the 12v wire from the LOC? The same spot where you hooked the 12v wire to the amp or to another place?
?
JaDarius Price The power wire for the LOC is connected to the power wire for the amp.
XxkristofpopxX okay thank you so much. & nice setup. Really nice.
What part of Michigan you from I’m from Grand Rapids. Can you install mines
I'm from Port Huron here
I just wired mine thru the 6x9s...rca jacks to the 6x9s..remote to a fuse power to ur battery.easier..
i have a 2010 fusion se and i have a lc2i hooked up along with old school 800a2 punch amp with 2 hx2 punch 12" subs on 8 gauge wire but everytime i turn off radio it makes a sound wave noise or a zap noise for a sec or 2 sometimes it will make a long zapping noise do you know what it might be? or whats causing it to happen?
Two Hav it can depend on how things are wired and the equipment you’re using. Usually noises like that on shut down/turn on are because the radio shuts off/turns on before the amplifier shuts down/turns on fully. In other words, audio signal is interrupted and the amp hasn’t fully shut down or turned on yet. You can test by unplugging rca cables from amp, turning on and shutting off and seeing if there’s the noise. If no noise with rca unplugged from the amp, problem is like I mentioned above and you need a way to stop audio signal until amp fully shuts down. Hope this helps!
@@XxkristofpopxX yea found out the amp was on afteraudio was being cut off all due to the remote wiring , the audio place connected ended up connecting the remote wire to the ignition wire switch so now it only does it when turning on the car and not when turning off car so im going to go back see what they end up doing now
What song is that
How long was your power cable in legnth? I'm ordering some welding wire for durability and currency efficiency and want in between just enough to a lil bit of play left over. Appreciate the upload none the less.
Can't remember exactly how long the cable was. Probably around 8 or 9 feet? I would order more than you think you'll need and cut it to size. You really don't want to end up being too short.
SNWxGaming get an amp wiring kit. Depending on the kit you get it may come with everything you need in clouding fuse holder and rca cable
Michael Ouellette I'll get the welding wire and buy the fuse and speaker wire separate. Thanks though
That looks way more than 8 feet lol. I have a 2010 fusion as well and I think i'm using around 18 feet
I did the same exact thing but I’m not getting any sound, I’ve installed two different amps and I’m still not getting any sound any suggestions?
I'm having the same issue right now no power to the amp I can't figure it out
Wait you have a six speed fusion too? I Love mine. Very rare so cool to see another one
Might be had a fusion since this an old video
@@kiethj7 Still running strong at 240k miles, and same with the system. It'll be a sad day when it rolls its last mile
@@XxkristofpopxX Awesome. Mine has been good to me the past 6 years. I want to hook up my system so I ended up here. How does it sound being stock?
I bet our cars were born at the same place since they're both 2010 6 speed lol
what kind of wiring did you use? 4 gauge or 8?
Jesse Kingman the power wire is 0 gauge and the speaker wire should be 12 I think.
Where did u hook your remote wire too?
My remote wire runs from the LC2i to the back of the amp. The LC2i has a built in remote that switches on when it senses power through the speaker wire. Hope this helps!
What did you connect your remote wire to?
Remote wire goes directly from amp to LC2i, LC2i sends remote signal when it senses power from the head unit.
Hi doing the same to my fusion sel. What do I need to complete this already have Amp and subs.
Hey Tom, I pretty much highlight it in the video. If you’re sticking with a factory head unit, you’ll need something like the LC2i (line output converter) to turn the signal going to your factory speakers into something useable for your subs. It also acts as the remote turn on for your amp when it senses signal. Grab some wire and hardware along with your amp and subs and go to town
@@XxkristofpopxX what size speaker wire did you use? Did Microsoft sync still work after?
What what was that grommet you put in around the power wire through the fire wall? A putty, or silicone, or something? Where'd you get it?
It's actually this stuff called thermomorph or InstaMorph, and I actually wouldn't recommend it because it was hard to work with. It comes as these little plastic beads that become moldable when they're heated up. I just so happened to have some and decided to try and make it work as a grommet, but I definitely think there are better options.
XxkristofpopxX ok thanks!
Just buy a line converter with a trigger remote and wire into ur rear speakers!
I did that to my girls fusion and it sounds terrible , there’s barely any kind of power to even make the subs work atleast decently
Are there rca connecter in the back of the stock stereo?
Nope
I just put up a video also . i tryed spiking my back rear wires and my whole radio system went down .. So spiking the wire is not my best but im still looking into it.. Any advice on the rear wires colors not to sure i spiked the correct ones
Whats the button beside your shifter?
craigster It turns on and changes the color to interior floor lights.
Couldn't you have just spliced into the rear speakers on the deck instead of running wire all the way from the head unit? Just curious is all.
No rear deck speakers in the Fusion unless you already have the upgraded Sony stereo. The rear speakers are in the rear doors. There are 6x9 openings in the rear deck for the Sony system subwoofers; you could conceivably add a full-range amp and more speakers in the rear deck but these existing locations are also good for venting the trunk compartment into the cabin. Also, you could conceivably just use 6x9 infinite-baffle subwoofers that are available, and put them into these factory locations.
Where did u run the remote wire
Cortez Henry
Lc2i has gto
Senses a signal and therefore doesn't require a separate remote wire
Wich wire is the remote for the amp
I was wandering the same.
What's the line output converter?? Do I need it?? I have Same car working on instal rn
Donald Trump2020 The LOC converts the line level coming from your radio to a low level RCA signal that your amp can use. You don't need an LOC if using an aftermarket head unit because they typically already utilize a low level RCA hookup in the back of them.
Ok gotchu noe I just ran to best buy and bought one lol I'm gunna connect them but where do I put the rem in the factory radio? It's a small blue wire that runs from radio to amp
Give me your cell number lol I'm installing rn would help a lot
Watch the video and read the comments and you'll be fine. Everything is explained pretty clearly.
Just finished. Great vid man really appreciate it
I have a question. Why did you wire into the front speakers and not the rear. I get why u went behind the deck but why fronts. I am at this same step right now and need immediate help.
Shouldn’t really matter if you go front or back, I just figured I’m listening to the front speakers while driving, might as well tie it together. But again, shouldn’t be a difference, just go for it
Thanks. I will!
Do the front and rear speakers get different audio? Or the same? No diff in base either?
By the way thank you for this video. I've never ran power through the firewall before and this was A+
Michael ODonnell not sure if they get different signals and audio, I’d imagine it would be the same but I guess if they wanted to tailor the radio for the car and speakers they might change it slightly? I kind of doubt it though. Also, glad you like the video!
in my 2010 my display goes on and off not sure why anyone have had any problems with that problem??
What are the measurements of the box
Daniel Littlefield the box is approximately 36” wide, 14” tall, and 22” deep. The port hole is about 4” by 12.5”. I’d suggest a slightly smaller box if you’ve got a fusion, I had to really work the angles to get this box in the trunk!
is it the same wire config for newer fusions? 2013
What do you mean wire config? This method can work on any car and any system that has a full range line output. Or do you mean the wiring harness in the back of the radio? I would imagine it may have changed with the updated radio in the 2013's.
Do you still have this car?
Enchanted SLayer Yes I do!
which color is 12V in the radio connector? Thanks.
Did you figure it out
Where did you put your turn on wire?
Turn on wire goes directly from the remote out of the LC2i to the amp. I use the signal sensing function, everything turns on when the LC2i senses the radios on
+XxkristofpopxX i used metra loc... Do you think it would worked also?
+Nolan Servano No, it doesn't look like it has a remote out on that unit.
+XxkristofpopxX oh, so i really need to tap it somewhere in the fuse ox? What would you suggest? Thank you...
+Nolan Servano You don't have to go into the fuse box, just get a find a power wire that turns on when you turn the key and run it to the amp. Like a cigaret output or something. You could even just install a switch so you can just flip it to turn on the amp.
Idk why I'm watching this I listen to metal lmao
where is the remote wire for it?
Derek Tulaga did you ever find where the remote wire is
The LC2i has remote wire built in to it so it will power on the amp automatically when the radio turns on
Could have tapped in to it behind the radio or at the fuse box if he was using diff hardware
What size amp your using
It's 1200 watts RMS
Ohkay like what all did you do to make it shake like that
Built the box to recommended ported enclosure subwoofer specs, and tuned the amp with a multimeter to make sure it was putting out 1200 watts.
+XxkristofpopxX you got 12' woofers or 15' woofer
They're just a nice pair of 12's
Only thing I learned was that the Fusion comes with a manual.
i wanted to see the connecting of the wires now im stuck here
Javid Kendall The wires from the radio go directly to the LC2i. Next you use the RCA connection from the LC2i to go to the amp, then wire the subs like normal. The remote wire goes from the LC2i to the amp, and is turned on when the LC2i senses signal from the radio.
can I pay someone to do this
You didn’t explain well where does the remote go
Worst way to do this, I have the same car and I popped the radio head right out and only had to remove a few screws. You could have done this with way fewer steps. Only took me 15 minutes to wire subs into my car
