Met a Picto in a Dungeon, he showed me his Pom Motif so I showed him my Hammer Stamp...we then did some Polishing Hammer and the whole thing was a Rainbow Drip...told him to go easy on the Fanged Muse and by the end of it all we were both covered Holy in White...😂🎉😅
Playing with Picto at first, I couldn't really figure out how to structure the rotation at first relative to how other jobs are played... But then I finally managed to simplify it after getting used to the long cast times. The "Moogle buttons" are oGCD charges that hit hard - so keep it from capping, and try to otherwise save it for raid buffs. The "Hammer button" is your odd-minute burst. Use it on cooldown. The "shooting stars" button is obviously your 2-minute. Use it on cooldown, line up with party/raid buffs. All 3 buttons come with the caveat of needing to be prepared in advance by "painting" - don't wait to get the canvas painted or else your cooldowns drift. So "painting" is as much filler as your basic 1-2-3. You don't ever want to realize "Oh crap I need to paint the canvas" during the raid buff window. White Paint shouldn't be spammed, but it also hits for less than the CMYK buttons. Save it for when movement is needed or when you're about to overcap, but otherwise save it for turning into Black Paint (to use during raid buffs) CMYK combo *(Anybody else notice the Y and M are BACKWARDS in the combo?!)* shouldn't be spammed, but you also don't want to cap it. Only use it if it's about to cap or you're in raid buff window.
@@BaghNakh1 - It's from color theory, the subtractive palette. Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black. The same as the ink in your printer. When you use Subtractive Palette on your PCT, it opens up the combo that goes Blizzard in Cyan > Stone in Yellow > Thunder in Purple. This is why school matters.
Comet in black is a separate button for a good reason. Holy in white is actually a dps loss. RGB builds towards your next subtractive rotation, which is much stronger. Holy in White isn’t terribly strong and doesn’t build gauge, so every 3 holy in whites is one less subtractive throughout the encounter. To that end, Holy in White is ONLY a movement tool. You can over cap them all day without a worry.
Morning Cole. Thank you for your simple guide. I got PICTO up to level 100, yesterday. Question for you: how do I implement STAR PRISM & RAINBOW DRIP into my single & aoe rotations. Thank you for all you do! Love ya buddy!!
During combat when theres a boss and a phase change isnt comming up the the weapon or monster paints are comming off cooldown, when is it optimal to repaint pictures? Whens a good filler time rather cause im struggling with that info.
A good time is just whenever you have the time to cast that isn't during the 2 minute burst window (because you would want to have them already prepared by then to use for your burst). So just do it whenever basically, when you're able to.
I'm only Lvl89, but PCT buttons really LOOK more daunting than it actually is. It follows the standard "Keep abilities on CD" strategy, so even if you are in battle, taking a few seconds to paint is WELL worth it for the damage (Mog of Ages is 1300 potency!). I found Quickcast nice for "Oh crap, Mog of Ages is about to go off CD and I don't have the Motif up", since Living Muse and Mog of Ages are both oGCD. That's just a skill issue though, I need to watch the CDs and plan better. Popping Holy/Comet before an oGCD is also nice, but also standard rotation stuff. Obv you don't wanna cap on it though. Otherwise, do RGB/CYM stuff. Of course, when other skills get mixed into it that may screw up my rotation a bit, but we'll figure that out when we get there. Overall, I've found PCT to be a LOT of fun. Definitely going to be playing it a bunch, especially through Dawntrail. Also, I'm definitely calling it the Pride Gauge from now on.
Actually just yesterday, when I saved the viper vid to my "FFXIV" playlist for later, I was hoping for this one (since I think I will lvl it first). So ty. Saved to playlist for reference. 👍
The skills are quite easy to grasp. -single combo, multi combo -RGB bar + high single combo/ high multi combo -holy holy holy holy holy if you are dodging mechanic, comet (oh it's lv 90 skill) -prep drawing > activate > activate 2. Can be something like this Shift+2 prep landscape, Shift+3 activate landscape ctrl+2 prep weapon, ctrl+3 activate weapon, ctrl+4 hit with weapon 2, prep pom, 3 activate pom, Swiftcast, 2 prep wings, 3 activate wings, 4 moogle beam 1, single target, ctrl+1 holy, shift+1 comet. The rest I put it on mouse, I'm using Logitech G300s, so have 6 buttons on mouse for RGB bar activate + rgb single / rgb multi. and normal multi. also dash and swiftcast. I think the prob will be "when" to do prep drawing. -in dungeon, can do it in between mobs. -for bosses, before pull, and when down time. -the recast time is like 4seconds. you can swiftcast it but still 4 seconds before you can cast other thing. probably can use it to swiftcast, have 4 seconds to do mechanics. and activate the painting. But yeah, it'll be even better when you know the boss' timing.
Don't let the negativity get you down man, Your videos are always great, There is some chud grifter saying dawntrail is bad cause of wuk's VA and it's causin peeps to get really mad and political for dumb reasons, Your jokes are fine and i hope life treats you well!
I really like the 3 actions 1 button setup. One of my biggest complaints about FFXIV is the huge number of buttons. I swear that SE is generating crypto somewhere based on the number of buttons clicked!
Holy in White is a separate button from Comet in Black because Holy is meant to be used for "OH SHIT I NEED TO DODGE THAT MECHANIC" and you want to keep your GCDs rolling.
ya but you have to use comet before you can spend any of your charges of holy so not really a need for them to be two different buttons besides making sure you are aware which one you are pressing. Essentially, so you dont accidentally spend comet right before 2min burst thinking that you are casting a holy to align gcds/ movement. but i think its an unnecessary separation if you are just tracking your black paint buff and then plan your movement appropriately
@@zachl - Fair point. I had overlooked that it couldn't be cast during Monochrome Tones, but I'm not sure Comet is something you hold onto long? Definitely weird to separate them then.
@@DrakeWurrum Same situation with the subtractive palette spells, you cannot cast any of the additive spells when they are active so it makes no sense that they are separate buttons.
I actually really love it! It’s a little punishing but very rewarding once you get in the habit. If anything, It’s also a nice change of pace from just running from A to B and doing nothing in between like all the other jobs.
It’s awkward until you unironically learn to trust the process. Most jobs have trained us to follow the train tracks of the rotation and keep things rolling. This class has massive downtime that is also at your own pace since it’s not forced. But once you realize that every motif leads to crazy giga damage the long cast stops mattering. There are basically no jobs in the game that deal equal or more damage then they get from those motifs. And yes even blm. Currently picto is the highest dps caster.
When you ask for trouble and dare people to be hateful in your chat you're going to get people hateful in your chat. You're better off just not feeding the trolls.
I know it's a running gag, but why does everything somewhat rainbow now have to come with gay jokes? What's next, are Children's Crayons gonna be renamed to Pride Starter Set? Can't rainbows just be colorful and pretty again?
I would have really enjoyed your video if I could have watched it all the way through, but like you said yourself you probably shouldn't have your Chocobo out. It's very distracting and blocking the dummy I really don't understand why you didn't just withdraw the bird. Friendly recommendation, birdie goes bye bye for rotation on dummy videos lol. Otherwise, you explain things very well and I would have enjoyed the video but the bird was killing me bro lol. Bye bye birdie.
I hate both new jobs. Viper has boring skills that all look the same and pictomancer is WAY WAAAAAAAAAAY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too complicated. I give up on ever getting a simple caster and just have to give up on ever playing a magic dps in ff14 other than BLM for magdps quests. Bring on the next ranged phy dps already.
Summoner is probably the easiest job in the game. They seem complicated at first glance, but casters in general are probably the most accessible jobs in the game because they don't really rely on speed or technical ability.
Fundamentally pictomancer is very simple, You build gauge to use your better combo, you pool resources for your two minute burst, And all you really need to make sure of is that you have the muses prepped, During the burst you have 5 GCDs you wanna use which is just a subtractive combo, Star prism, and comet in black, Then you use rainbow drip and a hammer combo, Everything you do between 2 minutes can be summarized as not drifting your starry sky, Prepping 1 hammer combo and the creature ogcd combo, and filling with whatever so you are ABC, Ideally you don't use holy in white for anything but movement but it's only a minor potency loss to use them

How do i get my 'easels' to cast the ability like your does, when i click on them like that?
its a separate button from the painting. "Motif" are the painting spells and "Muse" are the spells that cast the painting from your "easel"
