- Protesters block Victoria Embankment, outside New Scotland Yard, as an emergency ambulance using emergency lights tries to get to St Thomas' Hospital. A police Chief Inspector tells protesters "it's down to you whether you makes space for it to come through or not" as other officers urge protesters to move out of the road. Some protesters had already locked arms and glued themselves to the road. The ambulance eventually passed. Several arrests were made.
I'm shocked that the police didn't even offer the protestors a cup of coffee
tea and crumpets ?
they only had tea

What a world we live in when the Police have to politely ask scum to move for an Ambulance

When you say scum, do you mean people who can be bothered to spend a few minutes learning a bit about the most urgent crisis on earth?
Obviously you think climate change is not a big deal, but my question is How much time have you spent learning about the climate crisis? Or are you just regurgitating the perspective of fossil fuel funded media and your equally ignorant friends?
Evil bastards
The sad truth is, the only ways to stop oil is to either use it all, or to accelerate climate change enough, until a worldwide disaster happens, great enough that it affects everybody's basic needs to a degree, where survival becomes urgent enough, to where our leaders have to do something about it... sad but realistic truth.
A world that needs cleaning!

Absurd how law enforcement does nothing. Here in Florida they’d be dragged away, thrown in jail and face criminal charges, but only after our “good old boys” served them a helping of southern hospitality.
Always said try doing this in an industrial or port area in the US. Or even in a low income neighborhood. Or in front of a school during drop-off or pick-up. It won't be pretty. Anyone who blocks anyone in need of emergency care from a doctor from reaching the hospital within an acceptable timespan should be charged as a criminal. If the person in question passes away as a result of the demonstration in this case, each of these Eco-demonstraters should face murder charges.
The politicians should be charged for doing nothing and causing this in the first place.
No wonder crime is rampant in the UK right now.
Its what happens when you have gun laws. CriMinals KNOW the police can't do anything until the British SWAT show up.
The police say its upto you whether you move or not to let an ambulance through which is unbelievable and also some one gets a £190 fine for driving into a bus-lane to let an ambulance through.
these ppl should be put in jail for blocking an ambulance and im not even kidding. Literally why isnt anyone suing them?
Is that the one that was appealed and then quashed? It's a bit like the "red light argument". If you go through a red light for emergency services and trigger a red light camera, legally you have no defence. The law does not state you must contravene a red light to make way for an emergency vehicle, in fact it states the opposite and advises to remain where you are, and to move out of the way if you can without crossing the red light. Why? Because if you run the red light to make way for said emergency vehicle, you could then either cause or be involved in a collision, and of course you'd then try to blame the emergency service for wanting you to go through a red light.
The only exception is a UNIFORMED police officer who directs you through the light, this is quite uncommon and they will check that there is room for you to go through the light and stop safely somewhere before they do so, otherwise they won't. Why is it only police that can direct you through a light? Because only police have absolute authority and control over the roads. Police close roads when necessary, Ambulance and Fire service don't.
When these protesters block the roads they should be arrested regardless of whether there is an ambulance trying to get through or not.
@@johnmusgrave3179 Correct. Democracy gives them the right to peacefully protest, nothing more, nothing less.
There is NO right to block traffic, pedestrians, emergency vehicles etc implied in the right to protest.
The fact that policeman left the decision to the protesters whether they allowed the emergency vehicle through shows police etc are now in cahoots with these protesters.
Under the LAW he had a duty to remove those protesters for being an obstacle for the emergency vehicle. He has an obligation/duty to ensure that vehicle has safe passage.
He failed to exercise that obligation/duty, instead he facilitated an unlawful protest thereby showing cause for his removal as a police officer.
It is time law and order was restored. The police force must NOT be the defence force/body guards for illegal protesters.
@@saintsone7877 I hope it does not happen but, in the event of the person ill in the ambulance should he or she die, i would like to think that the police officer in charge would be charged with murder.
Blocking road to protest isn't protest, just an annoyance. These protestors should be arrested.
If you want to protest, stand on the pavement and protest there, not block the road.
They are committing an offence under the road traffic act. Interfering with the highway.
Reminder: while we really should move away from fossil fuel dependency and petroleum based materials, almost all these kinds of “activisms” are funded by petroleum corporations specifically to put these kinds of movements in negative light. Also many of them russian.

It's a peaceful protest... and possibly a peaceful murder.
Ah being stuck in a traffic jam is ok 👍?
WHY do police ALLOW THEM to break the law, remaining in the street blocking traffic? To me, their lack of law enforcement makes them complicit.
This is so very annoying to see. Earlier this year I was unfortunate enough to suffer a heart attack with a 95% blockage in one of my arteries. The only reason I recovered with the very minimal damage to my heart muscle was largely down to the excellent care I received at the time but most importantly the speed the ambulance and paramedics got me into hospital. These clowns may have the right to protest, but they have no right to mess with someone’s life in this way.
Exactly the same thing happened to me, fortunately I had the "Stig" behind the wheel. Heaven help anyone who got in his way.
PS. The NHS are fantastic.
I agree with you. I suffered a time critical illness recently that I only survived due to the speed I was taken to hospital and straight into theatre. I find it enfuriating that the police are reasoning with these selfish idiots instead of arresting them?? Also, if that patient died as a result of their actions, they should be charged with manslaughter.
I always say that I wouldn’t pi#s on someone if they were on fire. But in an instance like this I’d whap it out and give the lot of them a golden shower!!
I was in the same situation, a heart attack, close to death, blue lights to the hospital with the emergency theatre team waiting to rush me in and save my life. Had my ambulance been blocked for maybe even 5 minutes, I may very well have died. The stupid selfish protesters are going to be responsible for causing deaths, WILL THEY BE PROSECUTED FOR MURDER???
They actually need immediately to be arrested as soon as they show up, Ambulance or no Ambulance.

Or is it that the government is too scared to ruffle their feathers? They should not be allowed to block main roads near hospitals. Shame on all of them, weak government included.
They have been given the right to move them but the police farce are that useless and woke they refuse to do it.
They shouldn't be allowed to block roads ANYWHERE. It can and has affected anyone - health appts, getting to their job, getting to a funeral, a hospital or a wedding, fire engines not getting through. Impeding an emergency vehicle and obstructing the highway are both arrestable offences! The police should have used any means to immediately clear the road of their unlawful actions !!!!!
Absolutely, this defies logic. If what they are doing isn't lawful then uphold the bloody law and deal with them. I can't believe how weak our country has become.
Agreed. Read them a latterday version of the Riot Act (sadly repealed) "I am giving you a lawful command to clear the roadway - you have 30 seconds to comply" if there's no immediate reaction then the truncheons and pepper spray come out. Simply but effective.
The police lack of action is shocking. If that was the Prime ministers car or king Charles they would have been moved in seconds!!

The old bill are a joke these days .now if someone would of said a hurty word on the web .they would of had the riot squad onto it 😂😂😂😂❤
I am a life-long, 70+, environmental campaigner. These people sicken me and are turning people against the cause, rather than being a positive influence. They should be arrested, charged, held without bail if it's not their first offence, tried, and given both fines and long community service orders.
At this point the police are just adding to the log jam!
