This is my type of build, some good tips, thanks! I've been running full health build since I started playing, with some differences though. Mainly in armor, which I have a mixed batch of Auto Stim, Chameleon, Life Saving, Regenerating and Weightless. Especially the last one isn't the most optimal, even though it has nice secondary stars. Might have to try Vanguard's or Overeater's, since I have other fully fed buffs too. Weapons wise it's pretty similar, AA Handmade + Quad Railway (less AP cost than the Handmade). I don't exactly love playing with V.A.T.S. though, so I have a similar but a bit sneakier Rifleman build with AA Fixer and AA Gauss Rifle to play without using V.A.T.S.
Hiya, what does AA stand for? See so many of these letters used and have no idea what any of them mean, looked at the market discord and was trying to find anything in English but everything was in code ROFL Where is the code breaker?
Between you and Angry Turtle I've been able to really put together great builds for my characters. I used to never pay attention to the intricacies of the perk cards but I've learned my lesson lol.
You have been becoming my go to for anything fallout 76 related since coming back right after wastelanders dropped. I wish they would have more legendary script in the vending machines each day so I could reroll more than 3 times on a 3 star
I just started play Fallout76 and your videos absolutely brilliant super helpful!!! You doing amazing job especially for new players! Keep it going mate! 🤘🤙💥
Great video, it's just the build I needed. Thanks! I've been playing full health since I first started playing 76, and have been trying to figure out a non-bloodied Commando for a while now. This build has me rethinking all my builds both SPECIAL and perk-wise. Gonna see if I can adjust my Full Health Pistol build to give it more survivability.
Been playing casually for the past few months, just hit lvl140. Now I haven't as of yet put much thought into my build, thankfully perk points etc can be reworked. I have seen loads of low health builds and for some reason, they just didn't appeal to me... This build though is right up my street and from this point forward, this is how I want to mould my character. Thank you for sharing, great video 👍💪
Nice build! I like using Party Boy and Sweetwater Special Blend for the +PER buff on all commando builds. With a freezer, I tend to not run out of the stuff between dailies. It helps with damage quite a bit!
Something to add as well, if you are Carnivore instead of Herbivore you can still use company tea but it reduces it's effectiveness down to +10% vs herbivore which can place it at +25% as shown in the video
Nice build, I find no matter how many builds I try I always come back to holyfire/excavator PA build. Its just so comfortable. Hardly ever die, nice carry weight, PA rad resistance. If only I could get poison resistance as well everything would be a walk in the park.
@@spacequack5470 Union's 150 poison resist is overkill and it's frankly not worth the farm for most. Roll 25-50 poison and fire resist on your armor or just run the legendary perk cards (Funky Duds + Sizzling Style) at lowest rank until you no longer need them.
Helpful tip, stack your level up points and your extra special card you may have then upgrade them to max then scrap them for your “perk coins” to upgrade your legendary cards👍👍
A different take on a Commando full health build I use: Grim Reaper, Gun Fu, Adrenaline and rank 3 Concentrated fire + rank 3 Quick Hands. Once you stack Adrenaline, Gun Fu with Grim Reaper is a full-on onslaught, you basicly never run out of action points and do pretty good damage. Both my Fixer and Handmade are modded to get the lowest possible AP cost with the best VATS accuracy the low AP mods will allow, it's super fun. I also run rank 3 Evasive and rank 5 Ironclad for survivability (+95/+95), and rank 3 Fireproof. Mutations: Marsupial, Grounded, Speed Demon, Adrenal Reaction. I'm level 105 as of today. Gonna go Herbivore too, the tea tip is very good.
I use a very similar build with a Railway Rifle mainly. Super fun and the regen is fantastic! I use what rads legendary, no starched genes since I never need to use radaway so stack them luck cards like a boss!
Until you enter a double mutation Daily Ops of Reflective Skin + Armor Piercing. Best counter for Reflective Skin is explosive weapon (AGL, rockets, cannon...), and stacking HP works best against Armor Piercing and is the ultimate form of damage reduction.
@MrWestTek Hi, new to the game and just recently got to lvl 80. Is the beginner build in this video better than the beginner melee or beginner heavy gunner build you posted last year? You mentioned that the commando build was the weakest of the 3 beginner builds. Is that still the case here?
Nice! I just started playing again a month ago, I haven’t played since the wastelanders update, and have been trying to figure out what works well these days. I tried going back to my old gunslinger build that worked back then, but it doesn’t do the damage that people do these days. And it definitely doesn’t fire as fast 😅 I also like to be at full health and wanted to try a commando build, so this helped a lot! I’m currently running a plasma flamer, but need a good rifle to get the ranged shots in. This helped a lot!
This is a type of build I like and you can swap commando for rifleman too. I like that it is full health as there as so few of them. I hate low health builds as I can't play them and that is all I can find for the most part. I love that you have a beginners build and an expert build it just let's all people no matter their level and confidence make it. 💖
yeah, I think alot of us are ready for them to buff full health builds a bit, no reason for 95% of the playerbase to all be using 1 build type, low health..
Would this be a good build as a power armor user? Specifically the enclave x0-1 power armor? If so would you swap any perks to benefit power armor use?
I feel like without any of those you are still god mode as shown in the video. Dodgy especially wouldn't be good as it would take away from AP you already don't have a lot of. Appreciate the comment though :)
Try out my slayer's build sometime - portable power perk - then a power armor suit for each occasion - Mutant Slayer's and Zealot's being the best two,
Great video, Mr. WestTek! I just started playing last week and have been working towards this build. I do feel like I missed something because I'm currently level 57 and am still very squishy. So, what are the key perks or gear that make this build indestructible? My current armor ratings are 146 armor, 171 energy, 15 rads. During events, I just get wiped! Thanks!
It's just a level thing. When you're lower leveled you just get steamrolled by stuff. Event enemies have more health and damage to um as well. So don't get to hung up on it. It'll come. I'm level 123 and still struggle with some enemies occasionally. I can kill anything (except earl) but it takes a whole mag.
I don't usually follow build guides but my new toon is a Commando preset so here I am. I believe she's only 23. I have a hunting rifle w/+50 AA/Crit Dam. I added mod for +20 AA. My No VATS sniper. I have a normal handmade as well. I use that in VATS for Headshots but have low AP. I'd like to add No PA perks into her repertoire if possible. Her name is quite long. WhoaBlackBettyBamAlam 😁
MrWestTek: You mention that if you are a VATS user with this build and you aren't using company Tea, you'd be constantly running out of AP. But let me posit this legendary star combo: Anti-Armor/Mutants + whatever secondary star you like + 25% AP Cost Reduction. That third star has to be AP cost reduction if you want to use VATS with or without Company Tea.
Could u do a like end game legendary show case I’m getting back into the game and like have no clue what legendarys are good anymore I got a AA FR then it has a bonus to crit bar increase is that any good?
I know carnivore isnt best for commando builds but i dont wanna redo my mutations but i just use 1 point four leaf clover and rarely run outta AP that and grim reapers sprint

I’m also trying to figure that out. Blocker certainly helps but certainly isn’t doing all the heavy lifting here, field surgeon, first aid and born survivor are making the health regen ridiculous but I’m not seeing what else is causing the tankiness especially seeing as he said scaly skin isn’t really necessary.
Armor penetration (especially on bosses and big enemies) is better than just more damage. Earl has 90% damage reduction (iirc) so armor penetration is more effective. Either add tank killer or a perforating magazine and you will be around 90% armor pen (cannot go past 100).
