    This is a great video to follow, thank you for such detailed information! I just used the UTC in the dry high desert of NM following Rhonda's formula. It worked perfect. Kept the indoor temp 70-72 and humidity is 22-27% using a humidifier. 24 hours later and there are no lap lines, just a beautiful gloss finish. Love my new counter tops!

  • @nroman1977
    @nroman1977 2 года назад +1

    Just a fun way to measure water more accurately is by weight. Clean water is 1 gram weight per 1 milliliter.. 1 fluid oz is 29.575 milliliters (or grams). So 1.22oz is 36.08 grams(or ml). Most kitchen scales will do 0.1 gram increments. So 36.1 gram by weight. I know it's math but it gives a precise way to measure water volume.

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  Год назад +1

      If the poly is delaminating then applying the UTC over the top may not work. Whatever your first layer of material is, it has to have good adhesion. Sanding with a high grit sandpaper will halo but don’t get too aggressive as those deep sanding patterns can ghost up through the UTC.

    Finished a counter top with UTC on an RV, and looks okay, but not impressed with the edges, they don't look as thick as the top surface. I want to mount a drop in sink, but I'm not sure any adhesive agent, including epoxy will stick because it is so scratch resistant. Any thoughts?

      The edges will always not be as thick as the top that's why if any sanding is needed they say to sand corners and edges by hand.

    We are in Florida. How much water should we add to the mix because of the high humidity and temperature

      I would use the same ratio that’s on the PDF we came up with. I have many customers in Florida that use this ratio and it works perfectly.

      I’m not sure why it would be matte, but the gloss will know the sheen down a bit to a semi-gloss.

    How do you remove UTC from countertops? Mine looked fabulous until I added the ultimate top coat! It went from formica to marble and back to a very pretty formica. My issue is I LOVED the marblr

    Very nice video, thank you. I just can't trust this product after looking at all the reviews on Amazon and other sites. I have to go with the majority of people's experiences and they just aren't good. Will leave it at the top pour and call it a day.

    I followed your recipe for the gloss and I ended up with a ton of orange peel. I’m not sure where I went wrong because I always use your method for the matte (natural) and it typically turns out great. It seems like the recipe for the gloss left a lot of water on the surface which then resulted in the orange peel. SOS please help. Thank you.

    thanks for vid! any recommendations on how to get rid of nap lines once UTC is dry (more than 24hrs)?
    use orbital sander w 220 until lines disappear? or?
    thanks!

    • @RK3Designs
      @RK3Designs  2 года назад +1

      Unfortunately the only way to remove the lap lines is to thoroughly sand (220 or higher grit sandpaper) and reapply. Usually lap lines are caused by not having enough material on the surface or over working with the dry roller.

      i plan to paint my counter with acrylic paint. Can I apply this to coat it? SCC said not that I have to applya waterbased poly first. You seem to know more about their produc than they do. I also recently applied an epoxy on my bath counter. Can I add this to it? It's to glossy and I dont I have to sand it anyways as I got several lint spots. thank you@@RK3Designs

      Technically you don’t, However, we highly recommend the Ultimate Top Coat for superior protection and added durability!! We don’t offer countertops without it any longer in our business.
