Precious moments was my childhood bible in the 90s. I love it! I kept it for my kids.
I still have my Precious Moments bible. It's so beaten up now but I still love it. I have an newer Bible but I also go back to my Precious Moments one. Had it since 1999.
For anyone curious, there’s a large print version of this (which really isn’t that large), and this Bible is an amazing layout, bold font, thick paper, and a good translation….great choice
I have the identical Bible and love it! I pair it with microns (005 since I take copious notes) and colored pencils as highlighters. I love how much space it allows while still being small enough to easily carry to church. This is my all purpose Bible.
I also got the "large print" version for a separate study at home since I didn't want to mix my notes... And it was on sale lol. I have about 8 Bibles (the first of which I got at my dedication when I was 12 days old) so I may have a collection habit.
Great choice I loved this Journaling Bible so much that I got a second one when I went on sale a few weeks ago.

This is a great bible and is perfect for writing notes. I have it in hard back. Spend time with it and you will blessed when you thumb through it a couple years from now and see how much you've grown.

The English Standard Version is great! It’s more of a word for word translation compared to others that are a thought for thought translation. Examples of word for word translations would be the NASB, ESV, KJV, and as well as the NKJV. So I believe, as many do, that we shouldn’t compromise God’s word to make it easier for the reader. BUT… if you’re struggling, there’s nothing wrong with maybe sitting with this Bible and having an NIV next to it. As long as you base your theology on the ESV (all love for my NIV users).
An ESV study Bible are GREAT as well! Enjoy your Bible and God bless you 🙏🏼

I agree ESV is a great translation, it is my favorite for everyday and church. I would caution against "basing your theology" on it though because while it is very close to the original text there is still occasions of translators' bias or just not having sufficient vocabulary in English to get the full point across.
When digging into Bible study I would highly suggest pulling out several different versions. Personally I like using NIV, KJV/NKJV and an interlinear when doing a study in addition, vs just reading or using in church.

It is a single column format with things like psalms done in a poetry format. A lot of people prefer 2 or 3 ribbon markers

nice journaling Bible! nothing like good margin space for notes, etc! I like your Precious Moments Bible too! I buy kid Bibles sometimes - little less intimidating and I like the pictures! gosh I was probably middle school when Precious moments hit the collectors - women going like crazy grabbing them off the shelves in gift stores! we were in Missouri when I was in high school and they had an outlet or some kind of store there and it was a madhouse! my mom didn't like them so I never really had any that I can remember but I did buy one of their Bibles a couple years ago because I liked it!
Haha yes I love the pictures in the precious moments Bible! I definitely wanted to make sure I could have a spot to journal in my Bible too!!
I bought NKJV precious moments - I see what you mean with yours being ICB - yep you're mature and need a different ESV - I think ESV is a good one. NLT is nice for 'easy' reading but ESV I do recommend for studying.

When you said you wanted a bible to take notes in I was going to recommend the Nelson/Zondervan Journal the Word, but that's basically the same thing only in ESV. I take my notes in a similar bible, the Church Bible Publishers Notetaker.
As far as writing in a bible like that you might want to use something like a Pigma Micron 005 pen, as those work better on that kind of paper. They're not exactly cheap though (last I checked they ran about $2.99 each).

You need an study bible
For a thorough bible review you should show if the Bible has a maps, concordance, tables, text notes, etc. Is it a red letter bible? Does ea have chapter start on a new page? Does Bible have multiple table of contents? How big is the font? What is readability of the font? How easy is it to find specific scriptures? How heavy is thr bible? How thin is the paper? How bad is the ghosting? Is it line matched? What translation is being used? Just a few things to consider for a good bible review.
