I am by no means a professional artist like you, but I watch all of your videos so that I may learn more about your technique and form. I have cut my hair in your 3 layer style and it came out pretty close to what you teach in this video. Recently, I bought the DS carving comb but Ii am waiting for my hair to grow a little longer. I have been studying the cut you do and I am anxious to try that cut. Thank so much for taking time to make these videos. I love each one of them!
I love how you are always using lots of techniques and switching them up giving us all a real opportunity to build up a great memory bank. Your explanations are always very clear; which is an achievement in itself, never mind how good your cuts are! Another fabulous demo and thanks for showing all the steps and different variations. As many people have commented before me YOU so DESERVE all your success. Thank you Matt Beck.
That is a beautiful cut!! Thank you for the showing us this! It's a perfect way to be able to give a client an awesome cut without compromising your work even when you are on a time crunch. LOVE IT!!
Hi I live in the U.K. And just training at college and your videos have really helped me so much so 😃thank you I hope I can become a great stylist one day x keep posting please your a star stylist x Tiffany
You are an excellent stylist but I can't imagine doing that much maintenance on my hair to have it look good. I'd like to see an A-line long layered "lob," which can look very polished with minimal maintenance. Long as in 12 inches at the nape of the neck, 16 inches at the bang and a blending of the bang to the nape throughout the crown and back sections. The sides are where I'm having difficulty blending the cut I am attempting to describe.
Gorgeous hair cut! I'm growing out a graduated bob and can't wait to get my longer hair back, if it was longer this would be getting shown to my hairdresser on Friday! Thanks xx
Love your vids!! Just came across the website tonight, looking for new education to ponder. So stoked I found your site!!! Will pass along to all my co workers & stylist friends. Thank you so much!
Mr.Beck is there anyway we can see this done on a client so we can have a comparison? i ask because sometimes the result looks more semi polished then it does on a manniquin as the ends do not look the same on a human client
I love these videos. Last time i wanted a haircut i asked for a disconnected, choppy bob with a line. She said i dont do disconnected haircuts i dont want anyone to see it and think i gave a bad cut. I said well that tells me you dont know what you're doing & need some updated education. Nope didnt let her touch my hair!
i M addicted to your way of haiir dressing..love it..💇 ..i watch your videos regularly and have learnt alot..always looking forward for more of your videos..and there is request..do a tutorial to explain basic layering or an easy way to create layers ...thanks
It's good to be specific about what you want, bring pictures etc. The problem is that haircuts aren't done by number of layers... It may not make sense how I'm explaining it, but for most layered haircuts each individual hair on your head may be a different length (layer) so "X # layers" isn't really something that will make a lot of sense to a hairdresser. It would make sense to say you do/don't want "a lot" of layers, or something like that. It's just because we all envision things differently. If you say "three layers" that might be something totally different in your head than in mine. It's not about using an incorrect term, it's about conveying what you want effectively. That's why pictures help a lot.
I cringe and laugh on the inside when clients ask me for a numbered layer hair cut. I always picture stairs on their heads when they say they want a numbered layer haircut haha. Clients like that keep me amused.
I'm not a hair stylist, but, I love watching you cut hair. Would this cut work on fine, natural curly hair that I blow dry straight. I don't embrace the curl. thanks.
Blog 97...I want this cut as soon as my hair grows out! I had super long down my back hair, then got a short at neck line bob. It's growing out fast. Loving this cut.
hey... I was wondering if you can teach us a stylish short cut Mohawk with a nice fade then stop before or by occipital bone.. that would be awesome! I'm having a hard time doing a Mohawk haircut
Dear Mr. Matt Beck : l loved this technique of layer haircut!!!!!! A lot . I have a question I saw you used a Joico iron glad thermal protectant is this ok to used it after you dried it ? I usually add it to hair before, but I really liked it after 💙 Everything you are the best!
I'm a photographer. I was thinking about buys a maniquin for test shots. Was wondering about having to have a wig style. I see you head has built in hair. Found out about you from Jared Polin. Watching what you were doing, thinking about diving and a doing it.
How do you position yourself in front of the client and chair when you cut that first section? It can be a bit awkward hovering in front of someone to angle the section that way.
Hey Jessie! yes it can be a bit awkward but I just tilt their head down and it makes it pretty easy. you can also comb it strait up standing in the back I just find Im more consistent pulling hair than I am pushing it.
I'm inlove with this haircut. I'm definitely going to try this. By the way, I'm just curious about the haircolor of your doll. Lol! yes I call them dolls. :)
Another video where unfortunately the dark hair of the manican is lost in the black jacket behind it. But i realize this is an old video, so maybe this issue has been corrected in newer ones. But this is the second one i experience this in, so thought i'd mention it.
Umm I thought everybody had this in hair school. Maybe my instructor was a saint because she taught us this and it's a cut above the rest to keep clients coming back
I would love your take on this please. So I did this cut for my interview that I posted I had yesterday. So following your guidelines for this video, I made all the sections I did the bottom section cut straight across with no elevation. In the next section I took a tiny bit of the bottom section for a guide had my girl look down did everything as you did in the video, but the bottom part of that section was longer than the bottom section. I just ended up coming in and matching it up with the bottom section and it looks fine I just was wondering why it was longer than the actual bottom section/layer. Any ideas?
ha ha i was just daydreaming, i was being interviewed by you, Mr. beck and i had to do three different things, on three different mannequins, and i rocked it out!

You definitely are an honorable person...we love you...being honest to the core...
This method will help simplify things in the salon when your working with a time frame. Thanks Matt
That is a beautiful cut!! Thank you for the showing us this! It's a perfect way to be able to give a client an awesome cut without compromising your work even when you are on a time crunch. LOVE IT!!
Love this technique. Tried it and hair look great. Exactly what i wanted. I went from hair at waist to just below shoulders. Thank you so much.
I can't thank you enough for your video. I will show it to the hairstylist for our next appointment. Love from Indonesia.
you are simply superb, I love, love, love it!!!!!! excellent work keep the ball rolling!!!
Thanks Stanley!
I really liked the sectioning technique you used with the layered cut on this vlog 97 Matt!
I like that you are showing the hair dry before the cut. That is a something not a lot of people think about. Also great cut

Thank you so much to show us how to do this way of layers. It's a very cool hair cut. Greetings from Cancun, Mexico!!!
Man, I wish I found this channel before I got my haircut last month. ;;
You're awesome!! I can feel myself improving everyday in my cutting techniques after watching you!!!
I have a cute Italian woman who comes and gets her hair done, when she wants layers she says “CHREEZ LOVE, I want you to give me the steps today” 💕
Just now saw this video! Love the ease of the cut and the finished product!
Love love love it!!! And the color as well !! GREAT JOB!!!

Love it! Very efficient technique for creating beautiful layers!
you are really good teacher Mr.beck. .keep it up the new video and share your knowledge in salon godbless.
Thank god you went back and bumped those ends on the bottom with the iron Matt. It would not have looked finished without that little bend.
I think every hairdresser cringes when someone says "I want (number) layers" lol!
Yes! I never understand or get where client comes up with numbers of layers.
In the latin culture, it's common to say I want 2 layers, 3 layers, 4 layers. Also, 2 places I worked at, the stylists knew what numbered layers was.
i always tell my clients "3 layers is a cake ;-) not a hair cut." i then shake my head and ask how many layers they can count. :-o
It's good to be specific about what you want, bring pictures etc. The problem is that haircuts aren't done by number of layers... You can get them without hair as well but the ones I use have hair attached its not a wig.

I'm inlove with this haircut. I'm definitely going to try this. By the way, I'm just curious about the haircolor of your doll. Lol! yes I call them dolls. :)
Nice, but I think I'd still prefer to do the 45 degree pull forward and cut in one whack! Lol! ...maybe three whacks with denser hair.
Plzs a question, this is curt is nice to persons with little hair?
Would this work well for someone (me lol) with thinning & fine hair? I’m thinking it would give the volume on top making it look fuller??
