Thank you for sharing this video. I am constantly in my own head and it is so nice that even extremely good riders have the same problem at times. Thank you!
Great video, that place is crazy in so many ways. Also kudos for showing that there are those off days where you just don't feel like it. Most MTB related youtubers only show their cool moments.
I get you on the drops VS jumps thing, I can drop 5 meters into flatness but feel massively overwhelmed on the smallest gap jump 😫 I am working on it rn to get better at jumps/kickers
There's a new gap step-down at my local trails I've done two run-ups to so far but chickened out and haven't sent yet. Ironically, and I think this is the case with most average MTB'ers that I regularly boost much farther distance on other jumps but somehow can't get past the mental block of it being a gap, of which you can't see the landing till it's already too late since it's a step down. I feel like I need to feel more confident and aggressive to do it with lower risk, so it remains unchecked. If you're not feeling something, don't go, build up the confidence and right energy for it first.
Nice video. Looks like "Steamboat" area. My buddy helped develop that network back in the day. We camped and shuttled here a few years back. We watched a few locals hit the big features with ease on their vintage freeride shuttle sleds. Good times.
Hey random advice from a 15+ year bmx guy. Drops is a huge part of my street bmx fun and naturally transitioned to my mtb. Just like any skill repetition is key. Learning to drop off curbs or anything small is highly beneficial. Dialing in lifting the front wheel properly to allow the back wheel to ride off the end, without fear of nose diving. I often encourage people to learn bike TRIALS basics to get more confidence on the trail. If you're feeling scared on drops that are big for you, remember it's the motion is the same like a small drop, and if your confident but nervous, find a happy thought to focus or clear your mind completely then let it roll 🤙
Ran into you guys at the bottom by the cattle gate that day. Next time you are out that way, there is an entire section above where you started riding. It's more natural with a beauty steep section. Unfortunately the road up to the tower is pretty beat up, we had to hike it. Totally worth it though.
In my bike park there is a feature similar to the first big wood feature and its got a massive compression and a turn on the wood before it and then you have to gap over a pond It’s the kind of the that no matter how many times you do you always crap yourself
I am from Invermere. I actually saw you and Beth in the Swansea parking lot in October. I should have said hello, especially since hearing of Beth's struggle with energy as there are some good technical trails in the valley that are not well known and have minimal ascents. Is this trail located in Golden or is it closer to Invermere?
Hi Ryan, another great video to watch and vicariously enjoy the riding with you ;) I might have my wires crossed, but did you not say in the previous video "we have a big announcement coming up in our next and final 2022 video" did i miss the announcement? i am dying to know.... ;)
Hey man, great video and well done on the drop! Question: what go pro chin mount are you using on your 661 reset helmet? As i have the exact same helmet and want to get one that fits well? Cheers, 👍🏻
I rode an Orbea Rise a few weeks ago, first e-mtb ride. I knew it would change my life and it did, I will certainly consider the Ibis Oso when my Ripley gives up the ghost. Dont ride e-mtb it will just make you want one.
Are you you using a different GoPro? Image looked different framing and angle somehow not as nice as your usual videos but maybe it's just me. Love the quality and content! 👍
An e-bike!! WTF, unless you're going to work, or shopping, hooking-up one of those baby carriers to your bike for a ride on a paved or gravel trail, what the bloody-he!! is the point?
Well, in this exact context, it allows me to "self-shuttle" this shuttle mountain allllll day. Laps on laps on laps. On laps. Yes, please. Having said that, I do love my non-electric bikes and will likely be on those the majority of next year. Good times either way.
Hey Ryan, I'll asked the obvious, but did you adjust your suspension for the 40 lbs of extra gear? You know your thing, but it would definately affect your bike's handling.
Hey bud. Sounds to me like it might need a service. Since I've had this bike I've had to have the shock rebuilt three times because of a problem when it came out of the factory. I haven't been very happy at all with it as a result. I've final got it fixed. If yours in under warranty send it back. They will sort it for you.
I’m not a sub all we need now is Old school camera with A fish eye Jordan boostmaster and his boostmonster you’ve got yourself an epic edit from 20 years ago with all these features lol
Whatever helps tell a better story is always worth it in my opinion. Sometimes that means just action cameras and sometimes that means big cameras. Aaaand sometimes I bring the big guns simply because I love using that Canon C70. It looks soooooo good IMO.
Seems like you're specifically leaving out where this is, and I'm not a fan of that. For anyone wondering, this area is called Steamboat. It's just outside of Radium, and the trail is called Attitude Adjustment.
Well Hayden, that’s because we asked around and checked the local shops to see what the situation is regarding sharing Steamboat trails on the channel. We have to be extremely careful with where we ride, film and share. We had the go-ahead to ride and film in that zone by the cycling association and from the local shops (the one we talked to anyways), but the guys at the shop cautioned against sharing the exact names/locations, so we were respecting their wishes. I’ll be deleting your comment in a little bit for this same reason. Understandable, I hope.
@The Loam Ranger I understand where you're coming from, but I'm not a big fan of the gate keeping that goes on in the bike community. I also understand not sharing pirate trails. However, as far as I'm aware, Steamboat is fully sanctioned. Which is why I question why it needs to be kept secret. Oh well, just my 2 cents
@@haydenpaige3552 With all due respect some gate keeping is definitely healthy within the community, for one it keeps people safe and it also prevents a massive amount of people from riding a spot which could have unintended consequences. Here in the states if a trail blows up it usually becomes blown out and is subsequently paved by that bench cut garbage that seems to be taking over. Happened to a favorite trail system of mine recently due to a few yt videos blowing up. Moral of the story is if people want to find something bad enough they will, there’s no reason to “snitch” or give all the details out to potentially thousands of people, it’s just not cool.
That last feature is the type that once you're on it, you're more likely to get injured if you don't send it. Great vid!

I love that James first came in with that trip to Whistler and now he's a proper member of the channel

One of my favorite channels man, sweet video as always. I know the feel of those days :/
It's 10 degrees F outside and watching these guys ride makes me want to take a trip somewhere.

Has James got his own channel ?

He Prolly gonna get one when he retires. LOL
Reminds me of the day I found post canyon. Awesome, dudes. Makes me wanna go ride. Super cold.
pushing the very boundary of life and death is just every day decisions we make no matter what you do in life, its how you get back up that matters.

Those days when you can't seem to get out of your own way are always a downer.
I recognized this trail right away. Everytjme we ride in this town we hit this!!
Glad to see this! I think youtube had made it hard for me to see your stuff again. I've the right buttons clicked. Just me?
Same

Definitely the same here :-) I've been the proud owner of Rise for 4 moths now :-)
this is a sick video
Thanks Josh!

lol I thought the toe rope was a joke and then you pulled one out.
Sendin it as alwaysss
hi. may i know what model is that dual crown fork?
As soon as I saw that drop I knew exactly where you are.
Crazy features.
You will have to spend some time at B Line with me to get some serious jump skills! 🎉
Nice video, it was cool to run into you guys that day. We blocked that wallride off because of that hole.
You too mate.
Great video, thanks!
When was this filmed? I need to move from Alberta to BC and escape our endless winter
October. I wish this kind of riding was still available! This freezing Alberta weather is killin me too.

how does James have his rear shock set up? mine makes a snapping sound from the shock when I land to flat even if it is a small jump

That place isn’t really abandoned. There’s work that has been done to that trail pretty recently. Some features definitely need some work tho.
Nice!

Invermere!
Great video, random question - what knee pads is James using?
Seven idp knee pads, they’re ok. A bit too hot and sweaty, I used to have ixs knee pads and they were great.
@@Jamesyshreds appreciate the feedback James, thanks

What didn't "go well"? You're both rubber side down and have hit the biggest feature successfully... The title had me worried for a bit.
