    I work in the ER of a regional trauma center, I see a fair amount of bikers with serious facial injuries and brain bleeds. They're hard to recover from. I always wear a full face.

    Dan’s videos are always useful and informative. He’s definitely one of my favorite RUclips MTB presenters.
    After trying many full face helmets to fit my big ass head (63 cm circumference), I ended up getting this excellent helmet. There’s nothing on the market that even comes close in terms of features and comfort. The Boa system and Fidlock make this thing a joy to wear. I’ve stopped using my half lid almost entirely.

      If you don't mind... what size did you choose? I was going to purchase the regular Proframe but now I think should go with the RS. My head is almost the same size as yours but as per the tables I'm in the upper limit of Large and lower limit of XL, therefore not sure what to choose, thanks!

      @@DaltonMarrónAguirreSure thing. I got an L in the Proframe RS, which fits 59-63 cm head circumference according to the sticker on the helmet.
      The size ranges for the RS do not match those for the old Proframe as it’s a completely different last. Even with my huge head, it fits well and still has plenty of range to crank down further.
      If the RS fits your budget, I highly recommend it. It’s comfortable and has fantastic ventilation for a full face.

      @@DumbDogIsDumb I had not thought they will have different measures but of course it makes sense lol I was about to do a dumb online purchase with a wrong size. Searched for the store and tried both of them, mine is around 61 cm and I don't know why (perhaps the shape of it) but the Medium felt just right (first time I'm not large in hats/helmets). Anyways, bought the RS in medium and luckily will arrive in a couple of days :) thank you for your comments!! They really were very helpful for me!! Enjoy your riding and always be safe.

    A lot of riders in my area will not wear a full face mtb helmet because they think that they dont ride hard enough to justify it. This always puzzled me. Face to rock or tree at any speed is going to do damage, might as well have the extra protection IMO...

    Where do you now draw the line between the new RS and the usual 'park duties' full face like the Rampage or Aircraft2 etc ?? Is this RS actually a 'do it all' if you're not as fast as Bruni??

    • @FanatikBikeCo
      @FanatikBikeCo  Год назад +3

      Good question, although not one I feel comfortable answering for you. If it were me, I'd look at my total budget and how much time I spend riding in the bike park vs pedaling. If I could afford two quality helmets (one like this and one more traditional full-face) I'd get them, but if I could only afford to buy one good one, and especially if I spent the majority of my time pedaling, I'd buy something like this.

      @@FanatikBikeCo Thanks Dan. Fortunately I can have both. I run my current Proframe for all Trails and riding outside of Whistler and Euro bike parks but I have to admit, the temptation is to wear the Proframe all the time as it is MUCH cooler and lighter than mainline DH lids. Fox do and have always claimed the Proframe, let alone the RS, has always been fully DH rated. It's hard not to wear these things all the time TBH

    I was wandering why proframe instead of mainline?
    The other one has MIPS AND koroyd.
    I've been thinking about buying real full face (leatt enduro 3.0 is not enough for tough terrain) and after reading a bit my choice (safety on the first place) was mainline.
    And I found your review about realy safe helmet... so what do you think - which one is safer?
    Regards
    Darek

    • @FanatikBikeCo
      @FanatikBikeCo  Год назад

      Both helmets carry the same safety standards with both passing ASTM F1952 standard rated for downhill mountain biking. So can't say that one is safer than the other. What I would say you should do is try to try both helmets on and see which fits your head best! Both are great options and will provide the same protection

    Love the RS except for one, perhaps nonissue, issue and that is at the back of the helmet the open space around the BOA ratchet is too large. I really would hate to catch a pointed rock in there

    • @FanatikBikeCo
      @FanatikBikeCo  Год назад +1

    So what is the purpose of having the visor sticking up at the top of the adjustment? Doesn't that make it harder to block any of the sun out which is what a sun visor is for?

    • @ArmorOfZeus

      It's easier to get your goggles on then adjust the visor to desired location

    • @FanatikBikeCo

      I personally do not like to be able to see the visor in my field of vision, which you can when it's down. If there is no sun in my eyes and I can lift it up higher, I do.

      @@FanatikBikeCo Interesting. Thanks for the feedback. I come from a motocross background and we always have our visor's down.
      It doesn't block our vision and we will even sometimes duck our head so the visor will block the roost from the rider ahead.

      @@believe8263 Totally. Slightly different application in mountain biking where roost isn't a thin, even though all the styling comes directly from the moto world. I'm just used to not seeing it at all, so when it's in my field of view I notice it.
