- xPeke's career on both Fnatic and Origen established him as one of the most influential players in League of Legends History. From his legendary backdoor vs SK Gaming, to leaving Fnatic and starting his own organization, xPeke has a long and interesting history which we'll explore in today's video.
Thank You for Watching LoLAthlete :)
i feel myself lucky to be able watch xpekes famous kassadin backdoor live back then
I wish I followed League back in those days. Would have been so memorable to watch M5, CLG.EU, and old school TSM
@@LoLAthlete ah the famous rush hour, another legendary duo. it was so much heartbreaking to see it fall apart at the later times ;-;
I remember screaming at my monitor
@@H3xCore LCS didn't even give Aphromoo a proper retirement. They just announced it live on broadcast. He deserved better he deserved more recognition
True Cyanide Xpeke YellowStar ! OG FNATIC
Watched him playing when i was 15/16, now im 26. I miss characters like him in the lec, those kind of players made it as big as it is today. Forever legend.
the chemistry between him and Sjokz was legendary
i mean tbf we still have people like jankos, caps and perkz
@@LoLAthlete yeah and they are cool. But if jankos and rekkles leave, the last players from that generation will be gone. Its not that bad but for me its just like i used to identify myself with them, cause they are my age.
@@rajder656mom Can we stop for Xpeke?
No son we have Xpeke at the house.
Jankos is cool
well that happens when a pro isnt a complete social cripple like 99% of pro players noawadays
He was the first superstar of LOL- I still remember him in Gillette ads and other brands used him like no other Esport player before. He laid down a lots of stuff for future esport players
First to be a RedBull esport player also
to me first superstar is hotshotgg
SexPeke. Forever a legend.
I remember twitch chat spamming that back in 2015 whenever Origin did the unthinkable. 2015 worlds was such a banger.
Not so SexPeke. He didn't score Sjokz LOL
@@ottomanpapyrus9365 Uhh, correction, Sjokz didn't score SexPeke.
xPeke is one of the most iconic players alongside Faker, Madlife etc.
He really is not
@@vuk5475 he is, also caps is that iconic
@@vuk5475 yea dude guess having a play named after you doesnt make you iconic lol weep
@@vuk5475 If you played the game 2015/2016 and before, then Xpeke is one of the most Iconic players to ever touch league of legends. Not as influential as Faker, but definitely up there.
@@vuk5475 he is literally one of the most recognizable players in lol, just say you don't know shit about the game it's more honest.
From the moment Origen got formed it was straight away my favourite team in the EU LCS i was so hyped when they qualified to Worlds and will never forget that amazing run to the semis losing to SKT, it is probably my favourite competitive league of legends memories ever
That was the time when I most ardently watched competetive LoL and that team was one of the best ever created. Unkillable soAz on weakside top, Amazings mad pathings and ward evasions on jungle, xPekes crazy shotcalling and insane 1v1 potential and at the time by far best botlane in the west.
Same exact feeling's and memories here as well lol.
That SoaZ tp outplay in game 1 vs SKT T1 was insane, so glad I watched it live back then
@@IvanBostjancic bit overrated on amazing, he was definitely a weaker point for Origen, however Xpeke's insane shotcalling and super talented bot lane did a fuckton of work for them, and ever so reliant Soaz too.
That's the only memory I have of competitive. Never cared again
He just went his own way and i would like to believe that he is much happier now :3
He also said he doesn’t enjoy being a celebrity/center of attention so I’d like to think he’s doing much better now :)
@@LoLAthlete great video btw :]
Recently, a UNIQUE video was made by Riot Spain bringing together the history of the LOL community in Spain (Ocelot is not there for obvious reasons for Riot) but they contacted Xpeke and they declined to participate. For 2 years no one has known about him, he is away, they say he is a great New World player, who is addicted and plays other games, Ibai himself when he founded KOI offered him to be an image of the club and he also rejected it. He simply doesn't want to know anything about fame, networks, being public, he lives quietly being a gamer enjoying life and playing video games (although it seems not LoL xD)
Xpeke was a player that delivered magic. Like Faker and Caps he could change the game by himself. What a legend
Don't show this video to ocelote
It’s ok he’s chilling in Romania with his bestie💀
@@LoLAthlete he's in Dubai rn
My favorite player of all time, watching him truly got me into the scene, last year was the first year I didn't play a single game since the very beginning of league, I honestly would have never thought that would happen I could never have imagined not playing, I used to love this game
This man made me play mid lane thinking I could play like him and stay hard stuck silver for multiple years
Very well made video, looking forward to more! maybe a suggestion for a similar future video, i'd very much like to see Froggen, an OG too for sure
Thank you! Definitely working on vids showcasing older iconic players
Always a household name for any league players. Its the same as shouting "Kobe" in bball. In league you say "xpeke" while backdooring
He's the main reason why I played league in the first place. I would always show his backdoor to my friends who didn't know league at the time.
just so sad what happend to OG and with that xpeke - I will always remember the S4 FNC and S5 OG times dearly - peak EU viewing experiences due to his charisma and overall play.
If only he had some better coworkers to set up OG after they got bought out from G2...
for me its just like Smeb - we are all willing to forget the role swap nonsense that these guys went through to save dying teams
btw. great video bro - sure you want to keep it short but maybe at times you could have gone into more detail...
anyway thanks and take care
Thank you for the kind words! I tried my best to focus on the highlights of his many year career. Who knows how well Origen could have done if they kept Zven and Mithy
If you think about it, Astralis bought Origen, so if Astralis is doing good so is xpeke? (he is still listed as "shareholder" on Astralis league page), and Astralis finished first this summer spli
@@kamilstachera yeah sure, but idk how much he is still doing - shareholder is cool;
But I think the moment he and OG had to sell, he sold his last involvement in esports...
but sure that would be a more optimistic/positive way to think about it.
Great video. xPeke was awesome. Makes me nostalgic seeing all the previous pros.
I was small kid when this happend, it was 2013 i was 10yo. I drove with my dad to shop in katowice, we saw lights from spodek arena so we stopped by. It was first IEM in katowice and they were playing League, i was in love with this game back then so we tried backdoor there. We gave security pack of cigarettes and they let us in with vip ticktes. We got near the stage and i was watching xpeke backdoor live. It was so crazy to witness that xpeke is my favourite player to this day.
I was in spodek too and i have no idea why i didnt see this backdoor live. I think my friends prefered walking around spodek than watching :( All I remember is nidalee throwing spears
He was one of the few EU midlaners who could perform really well at inter event against asian players.
One of the best Ahri player imo.
Great video, xpeke was the first real big personality in lolesports. The only correction is that Mithy wasn't a rookie when he got picked up. He finished second in eulcs season 3 with lemon dogs
I remember how much I simped him back in days. Person who made me play league till I get into master ngl. Lova ya xPeke
Amazingly made video!
Very informative and entertaining video, keep it up!
His mom tweeted a picture recently. He is chilling in Murcia. I’m so glad he’s well, even if completely detached from League.
So basically you recapped xPeke without ever telling us what happened to him.
He moved to management and owns a stake in Astralis. I just told the story how he got there
everybody askin what is peke but noone askin how is peke
xpeke is in his hometown Murcia living the life without having to work the rest of his life. Ibai (KOI owner) send him a message when the team joined LEC: peke you want to work? he answered No haha
the legend
U did not@@LoLAthlete
A really good video portraying Xpeke's career in League of Legends. But I am missing the link to today. What is xPeke doing today? (Except for being a shareholder in Astralis)
That’s the point. He retired from public life and is now just doing his own thing. No social media. No more League of legends. I should’ve been better at communicating that in the video. Will do better in the future!
Fun Fact, Xpeke´s Family owns a farm of Lemons at the south of Spain....
If he the Esports things hadnt worked out for him he would be there just... Planting Lemons.
Great memories, thanks for this! Still unclear what he does day to day now. Shareholder in Astralis OK, but is he at least making bank and enjoying life from that position? I hope so. Guy deserves it.
He did make bank. All we know from some recent comments by people that know him well is that he was fully absorbed into playing New World with his girlfriend. Seems like he doesn’t play League and will never come back to any position of fame.
Felt like a true trip down memory lane. But… I feel like the video didn’t answer the question. What happened to him? Where is he now?
I didn't know xPeke played in botlane. Good video
I remember Origen was having a bad run and they need Xpeke to play mid. Man everyone get crazzzy when Xpeke stepped in
Crazy to see Xpekes first seasons and Rekkles is already around
yeah, rekkless was already signed by fnatic, and he did play different tournaments ( I miss a lot that kind of tournamets btw, now everything is regional leagues and then worlds so you barely see any competition between different region teams.) but he could't start playing with fnatic in the LCS EU first splits because he was to young for riot rules. So he was still part of the team but he was loaned to copenhague wolves to play in the amateur scene meanwhile.
great video, tho mithy was not a rookie when joining og, he had already established himself as a great support in EU in lemondogs absolutely carrying them
Omg you’re right I forgot Lemondogs. Great org back in the day
Damn. I remember his kassadin backdood and other epic LoL moments.
still talked about today? man i listen to the first 30 sec and here i am thinking hey i didnt hear about this guy for years now
I was waiting for the Dade 1v1 during S4 worlds
Btw, Mithy wasn't a rookie on Origen. He had played at LD and even qualified to worlds with them before
he was immortalized in LoL history by that kassadin backdoor so everytime someone backdoors on kassadin its called the xpeke backdoor
he did it also on tf like 2 times in LEC/LCS (or whatever it's called now)
my favourite player of all time.
Xpeke: does legendary backdoor.
Also peke: misses all skillshots "nah she's too tanky".
A legend of the old days when the lol events in Cologne where so small they gave out free hamburgers to the whole crowd to get people to come watch. Fun times.
Crazy how times have changed
His kassadin backdoor is the most iconic of his career
Easily top 5 best League moments in history
@@ereh11 absolutely. It's up there with Faker's vs Ryu's Zed. Two of the most iconic moments in League history (if not THE two most iconic even).
@@DDanV pretty sure they are. The most famous ones too. SKT vs. EDG comeback is also up there
His kassadin backdoor is the most iconic. (dont need to add more)
I think ending a game in such backdoor and winning the game just before enemies is much more iconic than some random 1vs1, and also I dont know why there were 2 zeds
I thought this vid would tell us where xPeke was now....I was wrong :( Otherwise, I enjoyed it a lot!
que dijo de papi xpeke? no entendí, soy de boca
Well Mithy wasn't a rookie at all in Origen, he played in EuLCS in 2013 with Lemondogs.
0:26 Wasn't Rekkles on their team back then aswell, or did he play somewhere else?
this doesnt even answer the title of the video. what happened then? where is he now? is he still doing anything at astralis or just holds shares?
Just holds shares. He’s fully retired from public life. He’s said himself he doesn’t enjoy being a “celebrity”
@@LoLAthlete thank you
He actually have a long hair and beard and lives thanks to Fnatics skins royalties (no joke). A genius
I’m sure he made quite a bit of $$ from selling Origen
@@LoLAthlete also the sponsors
He's my idol 💪🏻
4:26 Mithy wasn't a rookie when he joined Origen. He was already in the business for more than 2 years .
You’re right, apologies about that mistake!
Srsly did not mention his backdoor signature move named after him or did i just miss that?
I showed the clip of his back door vs SK and how a clutch back door is still referred to as an xPeke
Mithy was not a rookie in origen, hell he even played vs xpeke in a finals with lemondogs.
Almost everyone on fnatic was a legend. Cyanide, Xpeke, rekkless, yellowstar, soaz. That stupid 1 hp nexus BS. if only it was league 2023 at that time they would've won worlds or at least make it to semi's
A small comment - Niels was a Rookie in Origen, but Mithy was not. He was on the Lemondogs squad with Nukeduck that made Worlds in 2013, ending up third in the group with SKT and OMG. Nukeduck had the dubious honor of playing Faker in his international debut
Thank you for reminding me. I totally forgot about Lemondogs as a squad. Zorozero was an iconic player for how little he played
Shit I'm old. I know so many of the old players xD
same
So, when does origen plays?
Origen = Astralis now :(
Him and Alex ich were the original mid goats.
one of hall of famers
I remember this guy was talking to my (in that time) gf lol what a player
It's not Alex "ish" it's Alex "itch" you say it like Itch. He's a legend too
reading this title gave me a fucking nam flashback
So Astralis in LEC is actually the organisation rebranded from Origen established by xPeke?
Essentially yes. xPeke sold Origen to a company that eventually changed their team name to Astralis
so what is xpeke doing now ? is he part of astralis ? he hasnt uploaded on his insta for 3 years
Yeah he sold his brand to Astralis now just enjoys his privacy and hard earned money
Ok but does he stream somewhere?
He has a personal RUclips channel but hasn’t uploaded for a hot minute. Technically still has his twitch account but he’s nearly 30 years old I don’t think he’s going to stream League anytime soon
I didnt even know rekkles has been playing soo long
When he debuted in season 3 he was too young to play in LCS/worlds otherwise Fnatic would have started him
Well video don’t tell what happened to xPeke as stated 😒
Legend
I mostly remmeber xPeke for awkwardly hitting on Sjokz in live event XD
In a different universe…
Good video , but i was hoping to see what he is doing now. Sadly u didnt answer that :(
He retired from public life. He made his money and now lives privately
My fav player ever
One of the original LoL goats for sure
@@LoLAthlete Btw, can you make video about Origen and FNC EULCS final. Arguably one of the greatest and most fun bo5 ever played
Idol
the old times
Only reason xPeke retired is because of motivation, if he didn't lose motivation, he'd probably still be one of the best EU mids currently.
Idk man he accomplished so much in his first 5 years, including starting his own successful organization. I feel he’d be holding himself back if he was just a player and not team owner like he transitioned into
@@LoLAthlete he accomplished very little as a owner, origen was only great when he played mid. He could’ve been EUs Faker with the longevity and performance he could’ve achieved
@@jwmc99 He was owned by Perkz at the time already and mids like POE , i rly liked him , was fan of him but his mechanical skills and reaction time cant be compare to players nowaday
@@fullfradi95 not really xpeke could still play against the best when he wanted and when it was an important game. Motivation caused him to not perform consistently hence he got worse. If the guy was as dedicated to the game and practiced daily like Faker then the guy would have been so much better and for longer.
So what happened to him basically?
Sold his team and made $$. Lives comfortably
I dont feel like this video answers the question.
What happened to him? Where is he? What is he doing? Like am i the only one whos left with more questions then answers?
Faker didn't play in the semi finals, it was Easyhoon the whole series
En qué estrella estará...
Goat
0:08 Enrique CedeÑO, no Cedeno
xpeke fue el ronaldinho del lol
I miss days when Ocelote was always trying to be better than xPeke and never succeeding
He did.
And then things went south. I miss old Carlos :(
You made a mistake mentioning mithy as a rookie. The only rookie in that squad was zven.
Mackdoor
So what happened to him now ?
does it make me a boomer if i still call a backdoor an xPeke.
Not at all :)
where is him??
On Astralis
@@LoLAthlete is he still on astralis? I thought he left after they changed the name?
@@IIVIIOJICA10 he is still a “shareholder” in Astralis since he owned Origen and then sold it to a larger esport company (the same one that owns Astralis)
@@LoLAthlete ok, thanks. I haven't seen anything from him since like 2 years. This was a very good video.
@@IIVIIOJICA10 he said that he doesn't enjoy being famous, someone leaked a photo with a fan recently where you can see how he is right now but sadly we won't see him anymore :(
Poor Kevin……
Tbh, when Mithy joined Origen, he was not a Rookie 😂😂😂
If Jimmy garoppolo played league
Myth the legend... what time for european lol
he's too tanky
so does this mean he still owns something in astralis? also does anyone know what's doing right now
Yes he’s a part-owner of Astralis. I think he’s just chilling and enjoying life after years of hard work
@@LoLAthlete but did he " co-create" Astralis or did Astralis just buy OG?
@@marcoferreira3832 Astralis bought out OG, the deal most likely included an offer of shares in Astralis
@@marcoferreira3832 Astralis just bought them
@@marcoferreira3832 Origen was bought by RFRSH entertainment (I think that’s the correct spelling). Basically a hedge fund. They also bought the Astralis organization so they owned both orgs but eventually decided to merge both under the Astralis name. Imagine Google bought RUclips and Twitch but then decided to only use the RUclips brand
ocelote still crying
Dardo kill Origen
How was Mithy a rookie???? he played since 2012 Lmao
What a misleading title..
Call it the "History" instead..
I thought this was after all of the esport stuff.
yea but currently in 2023, what about him?
