Really glad this got suggested to me. I’m running a 45 Mile UltraMarathon in a month and I’ve only given myself 5 weeks to train. Watching this video has given me huge motivation and I related a lot to the doubt and commitment issues you mentioned. Also I expected you to have like minimum 20k subs with how well this video was made. Keep it up :)
That’s amazing! That will be an awesome challenge, I’m keen to hear how it goes. I’m really glad you enjoyed it and could relate to it, I approached the kind words, definitely will keep it up! I’ll get to 20k subs one day 😜
"With no experience" is kinda an overstatement. If your first run is already below 5 min/km pace, you have a pretty decent running experience or cardiovascular capacity. It's relatively easier to make the runs longer without dropping that much pace. "No experience" should indicate that you're not really a runner or can't run well even at short distance (5K and below).
Thanks for leaving a comment 😊 I stated at the start that I did used to play semi-pro sport, but had never trained for any races before, or have the right diet, hence the no experience in training or racing for endurance events! I never went on runs outside of my sports training. I understand what your saying about the title, but I clarified my pre-qualifications at the start to basically say I do have a base level of fitness. Although it was still very challenging with that advantage 😅 Appreciate the thoughtful comment, hope this helps clear things up 😊🙌🏼 have a great day
@@wymowaiyan6505 thanks mate! I was actually at the Rotnest race a few months ago, and it was quite common (even for my friend who had never played sport or ran and had only trained for 2 months) to get a sub 2 hour half-marathon. As it’s shorter people tend to push a bit harder, a sub 1:45 is considered to be very good (5mins per 1k) Thanks for the comment, hope you have a great day!
Exactly. This video is actually pretty dangerous for those out there who actually think this is a good idea, when they don't realize that this guy is a very experienced runner.
Why didnt you sign up for an actual marathon, just the excitement of the event and atmosphere makes it much easier to get through.I did a virtual half and it felt almost as hard as any of the 11 full marathons I've done,I would never run a full on my own, that's wacky nu nu.
Hey mate, I just wanted to say this video helped inspire me to run the Melbourne marathon. I was much in the same position as you, no real training and stuck in a rut. So thank you for making this video, it really helped me realise the potential of my life if I put my heart into it and see it through.
Woah man that’s crazy! I’m glad the surgery went well for you, great to see you striving to do such Ana amazing feat. I will for sure! Love it man, continue to Defy Limitations 💪🏼
Dude I'm stunned by how little subscribers you have, your storytelling and video editing is great! I myself am training for a Marathon and this was awesome to see, many thanks!
Great job. The marathon is tough. My first one was brutal. But I will say that I learned some things that I applied to the training for my second marathon. As a result, the second one was SO much better. You were hitting the shorter runs (including the half marathon) pretty fast. I think you could get it well under 4 hours with a strong aerobic base and the right training. Thanks for sharing your story!
Yes definitely it would get better as you do more! Thanks mate! I would have done a second one but I got back into playing sport and focused on my footy instead, I appreciate you watching! I'm glad you liked it
Love this. Im from BNE and have only 15 days to go until my first 1/2. Literally going through the same feels (had 30 days myself). So relatable. Exactly what I needed.
On your second day were you run 2.50 km with 3:31 avg. pace, some people who've been running for long time cant even hold this pace for a mile.Either your a runner or there is a problem with ur strava.
I wish I could run that fast 😂😂 They were sprints I was doing! So I would run 1 lap of the oval then take like a 3 minute rest before going again… in between I paused Strava. If you look close at the screenshot, I wrote the type of running I did, but I see the confusion!
Well done! I was training for my first marathon, then it was canceled...I lost focus, I lost drive. I too would half-ass things, but watching this has motivated me a little more to sign up for another marathon that is 3 weeks away. Thanks, Blake!
Thank you! It does make it tricky when something gets cancelled like that after working so hard towards it... I'm glad you decided to try again! Please come back and let me know how you went 🙏🏼 I glad this gave you some motivation!

Thanks for the comment! I’m glad you like the video 🙏🏼 everything that I said/did in the video was recorded on Strava as well, even the marathon run/time, so that was what I ended up with. Can say I’ve improved greatly since then
I let the clock/distance run the whole time! So the total distance I competed no matter what was 42.2. Some of it was walking and some of it was running 😂
it's so funny to me when football players start running, they got no idea what they're doing, they just run hella fast haha. I laughed so hard when looking at your first run at 3:30mn/km that was mad hahahah
You want to know why you got injured? It's because you ran that half marathon way too fast. Your body was not adapted to the stress and impact. 5km per minute for an untrained runner for a half marathon is not smart. You should have ran at a zone 2 pace so your muscles and ligaments can adapt.
I'm actually more impressed you were able to do that on a track. I would lose my freaking mind. But thanks for the inspiration... I turn 40 in 2 months and I just started a 7 day water fast, then I'm going into 7 weeks of serious training for a solo marathon. I did 15.5 miles on my 35th b-day but I'm resting on my laurels bigtime!

I feel ya man! I’ve had shin splits before when playing sport, Then 2 main reasons you get them is; 1) the surface you run on &, 2) the intensity/volume of training If you ran in concrete and got them, then maybe start running smaller distances but on grass and then build from there! Either way, hope it gets better man!
