    I do see alot of good use of it. Mill pcb boards. print cases to the bords. ect.

    Best to have specific a tool for a specific job. If anyone has milled MDF, for example, you know how nasty that stuff is and will contaminate all the mechanical componets, and anything around it. Same with laser cutters, the smoke will contaminate the enclosure and mechanics. 3D printing is best done in a controlled clean evironment and in a dedicated machine. Do you want to 3D print on the same machine you just created a lot of dust in or is filled with smoke debris? I don't go with that logic... Although the machine interchangeable "tools" look cool, the whole enclosure design is also bit distracting, not sure if it is the clear plastic they have around it or the whole shape of it, but I lean more towards the simpler open frame type of 3D printers enclosures. Easy to wrok on, and if you weant to enclose it you simply put it inside and box.

    Random unrelated question: Does edible printing filament exist? Is it tasty? I imagine you'd need a machine purpose built for 3d printing edible stuff but you'd know better than I would.
    Edit: Bad me for not watching to the end of the video. Printing with chocolate is a thing?! Spiffy.

  • @SuperYellowsubmarin
    @SuperYellowsubmarin 7 лет назад

    Tried it for a month. Did not like one bit of it. The extruder design is poor (read low resolution because of the direct drive), the z sensor attachment is useless because the 3d printed part does not fit, the firmware has bugs, ... I had a lot of failures with it. Even stopped mid print for whatever reason. By the way the extruder is unserviceable.

    Why do folks keep thinking these multi-machine contraptions are a good idea.
    - Milling chips and dust are going to coat everything
    - Chip extraction is overlooked
    - deadly fumes from laser engraving have to be filtered or vented outside
    - and as pointed out, Voxelization is meant for design work,, not toolpath control
    - $ price , (I don't even want to know)

  • @ZEFFERize
    @ZEFFERize 7 лет назад

    Correction, there is another device that has the multi tool capability. Fabtotum from Italy . I have one. It is not highly priced compared to Zmorph. I cannot say It's been a trouble free unit, far from it but considering I bought it via the indigogo campaign I should be happy I got something at all. It's evolved a lot since then. You should review it.

  • @TheRealMrLaserCutter
    @TheRealMrLaserCutter 7 лет назад

    Pick one thing and do it well. A rigid router setup is never going to be as nimble as a lightweight 3d printer/laser, so its always going to be a compromise. I would argue though that the zmorph is not rigid, unsupported rails like this might look strong compared to a 3d printer but they are crap compared to proper profiled linear rails mounted directly onto a gantry/zaxis. Kinda of makes the whole metal chassis a bit of a joke, no matter how strong its made the unsupported rails will always going to be your weak point.

  • @HowlingCurve
    @HowlingCurve 3 года назад

    It is about 4 times the price it needs to be in order to be competitive in the 3d printing market. Almost $4800 AUD and still only comes with the single extruder, no other tool heads are included.

    20 sided cylinder would be a icosagonal prism, a true cylinder only has 3 faces as it's based on a circle.
    Also, I'm interested in thee accuracy of the modules. How many micrometers would the print head be off from the laser cutter or whatever else they offer, and how repeatable is it, and would two separate modules of the same type have a difference.

    hmm, the machine looks great, but i'm not too sure, what the target demographic is.
    the 2 in 1 out dual extrusion, i dont feel so much. the option of color blending doesnt seem worth the amounts of material you need to purge, when in most cases you'd just want to print two colors by themselbes, and with no mixing.

  • @mindmending
    @mindmending 7 лет назад

    hey Angus, have you had any issues with esun filaments , I've found that the white and black are okay but the other pigments are hit and miss , for example the yellow esun I tested by running a kilo through a new nozzle left serious carbon build up and even got inconsistent as I got nearer to the end of the spool as opposed the rigidink which left almost nothing

    The manufacturer should move the encoders on the idler pulley side, it looks like a good machine and the encoders go to waste on the motors. On the opposite side they will take into account belt stretching..

  • @HoffmanEngineering
    @HoffmanEngineering 7 лет назад

    That frame is a beast! Definitely over designed for a 3d printer, but rigid is necessary for milling. That software is disappointing though, the voxalization is a lot like Meshmixers Make Solid, and you can definitely lose detail. That's an... Interesting.. Machine for sure.

    This is one of those: jack of all trades master of none. I really don't understand why manufacturers keep trying to force these machines to be everything. A 3D printer, a laser cutter, a CNC. Just because they all use similar electronic and stepper setups doesn't mean the same machine and construction is appropriate for all. The more I see attempts at doing this the more I think it's a wasteful effort. Do I want my 3D printer covered in aluminium dust/shavings or saw dust from CNC milling -- NO. I do wood working as well as 3D printing -- wood working tools are in a different room in my shop. That's for a reason. Anyone who has done both will tell you, saw dust is one thing, but aluminium dust clings to everything. Try to vacuum it, it's worse than cat hair. We keep making an effort to get a perfect 1st layer by cleaning the bed with alcohol before applying whatever your bonding agent of choice, and the last thing you need is the part cooling fan to kick up some CNC debris into your print. Hence the mess of the software. I honestly would rather get a small CNC and put in the appropriate area of my shop with proper air exhaust and dust collection and keep the 3D printers dedicated to 3D printing, but heck that's just me.

    interesting machine, I've always wanted to convert an old printer to do really light duty CNC work. Just the price tag is a little unfortunate. For half the cost you could build a solid machine like a CoreXY as well as a fairly decent sized router, both of which would do their jobs so much better than an all-in-one ever could. But I suppose that's really not the purpose of this thing, it's sort of trying to build all of those machines into a single, very compact form. Plus it seems like the software is a big part of what they're selling you, similar to what lots of manufacturers are doing now. Only problem is just how rarely proprietary software is actually better than the stuff we already use every day like Simplify3D, Fusion, Cura, etc

    This is a good printer but toss the voxelizer software. It sucks. It's super easy to make a good profile for simplify and cura. Also, if you use pva with the dual pro extruder, please use towers and custom gcode to retract the pva every time it's not used. A hardened pva clog is a nightmare to get rid of, especially through the 45degree channel the dual pro has.

    Great review, and while I would not be purchasing this machine in the near future, I really like the multi purpose design idea around it. So yes I would love to see everything this machine can do, and how well it can do it.

    If you do try out the other tools I'd like to hear more about the trade-offs of having a multiuse machine with swappable tools. it makes sense to do something like this since the basic framework is so similar, but what are the challenges involved.
