  • After a friend on You Tube asked me about running old engines without their exhaust restrictors. I decided to run one of my 1960's O.S. Max .10's with its "Bow Tie" exhaust valve removed to check its low end/idle.
It actually idled quite well with an APC 7x4 prop on 15% Wildcat fuel, and a #8 O.S. Glow Plug.
The video has extended time with the engine idling, which it did quite well...running dependable around 6K & 7K...with a quick recovery to 15K at full throttle.
So, if you've got one of these old castor slingers, maybe take a chance and bolt it to something to take it flying.

thank you thank you thank you, little late on the reply, out of town for the eclipse but now i know wont waste my time with this .10. I have a huge collection of engines to choose from but the os .10 seems to suit my needs better than any other. got a vid on my channel that i took 10 or so years ago of my collection which has grown quite a bit since then so im not hurting for engines but glad to see the .10 will work, cant wait to get it on my fake katydid with maybe a 8x4 lawnchair and a jug of iced tea and just putt around. thanks man really appreciate ur help and the time u took to make the vid. I have several engines with this type of throttle but have never ran any of them so thank you again
