Me too. This video is why I love teams like Montreal and Kansas City. The spirit shown there and the fan support in both good and bad times is totally organic.
Funny, I had to become a Mets fan since the Expos left ;p. I grew up watching the 86 Mets winning as a young boy, and Carter was catching when they won.
MON IDOLE DE JEUNESSE!!! TOUJOURS PRIS LE # 8 DANS LE PETITES LIGUE ET EN PLUS LA POSITION DE CATCHER!!! RIP THE KID!!! MERCI POUR LES BEAUX SOUVENIRS!!!
They're working on it. Waiting on MLB to fold up Tampa Bay and move them to Montreal or add a couple of expansion teams. Most think that the Expos are coming back in the next few years.
I hope so, but the unfortunate part is that it will be a bunch of over payed crybabies just like the rest of baseball. It won't be special like it was before.
Yes, it would be very cool to see the Expos comeback to Major League Baseball! Montreal has some great baseball fans and I sincerely believe that if they have an outdoor downtown ballpark, the team would thrive. I had forgotten that Gary finished his career with the Expos too.
I've been a Mets fan since 1967, was at opening day at Shea 1985 when Carter walked it off with a homer in the 10th inning. Lived in the Albany NY area and would go to the big O just to see Carter play when he was still on the Expo's. Clutch, character, and that smile.Nobody played the game with more heart! I was broken hearted when hearing he was sick. What a class act Gary was! RIP The Kid!
Saw Gary crowning his illustrious career that night; Expos won 1-0. He drove in the GWRBI. Larry Walker scored, another great Expos draft. Since he passed we really miss Gary and baseball in Montreal; the World's greatest hockey city but Montreal certainly deserves another MLB team. 50,000+ fans every pre-season game!
I was a braves fan but his Rookie card was the first baseball card I ever got at a shop in a case. He was awesome and never had roid help. I love seeing a player that plays for the love and not the money. You can see the love in his eyes.
We love Gary Carter a nice guy a leader I am a Mets Fan !! all these 86 Mets are pretty much loved around . That was a team to remember Fun Fun Fun, They did it with Fun. others do it because its their Job . The Mets made the Job Fun
As a kid growing up, I was an Expo fan and my favourite player was Gary Carter. I wish I could have seen him play, but that never happened. I did see the Expos play the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre /Skydome a few years after he retired though. He was a true legend and glad he finished his career in Montreal
The only Expos game I ever attended in person. Gary Carter was my favourite player growing up and to not only see his last game but hit the only RBI in the game off of that year's Cy Young winner and over the head of Andre Dawson... I mean, how could that ever be topped?
Carter was my hero...I remember watching it on WGN in Oregon when he hit it, and drove my step-dad crazy forcing him to come down stairs to watch his final at-bat.
Growing up in the midwest all i had was WGN and only could watch the cubs. BUT on a faithful October night in 86, i happen to watch game 6 and became a mets fan. and at that time Gary Carter was my favorite player. I had my mom iron on the number 8 on my little league shirts. As a kid, i got to be the kid.
And who was in the CF where Carter knocked the ball? His former teammate and friend Andre Dawson. I don't think it could've been more special than that.
Right Field and Dawson was cheating in because he knew Carter couldn't run anymore and thought he could throw him out at first. Atleast that is what Mr. Dawson said on The Expos documentary he participated in.
@@5IvanDrago5 I was at the game and at first, I even though that Andre played it to allow the Kid to get the hit. But, after watching it over and over again, I don't think so anymore. What a thrill it was.
@@jameshudson169 I dont understand your comment, yeah CF is a area, but Andre Dawson was playing right field. I dont understand your point about 2b covering first?? As far as the fact that Dawson was cheating in to throw Carter out at first. I didnt make that up because it would be a cool story. Andre Dawson himself said this i a documentary.
Well I finally bought my 2024 Pro4X and I absolutely love it ! The comfort level is amazing. The only negative thing is the fuel mileage but I knew that was going to be the trade off coming from a fuel efficient car to a truck . The comfort level more than makes up for that . Everything is now at the right height and I don’t feel like I’m riding on the ground ! Absolutely no regrets in buying this truck !
Hardly anyone showed up in the last few years. It was inevitable that they would leave because the city didn't give enough support to the team. The crowds were so bad that they played several home games in Puerto Rico.
cool teams of the 80's with Dawson, Raines, Wallach, Carter.....and could you possibly have scouted more talent in the early 90's than the Expos did......Walker, Randy Johnson, Pedro, Alou, Grissom, Deshields, Wetteland.....they got robbed in 94' and again when they moved to Washington....Nationals are a yawner compared to what the Expos used to be.
What a difference in announcing styles. Vin Scully, who knew the power of silence, and Harry Carey, to whom silence was a void that had to be filled. -mikenotpaula.
I loved how humble Gary Carter was in his finest hour - thanking Lord Jesus Christ when he was part of a world series winning team. He would have had every conceivable reason to make it about his own leadership but chose to give praise. His final at bat was emblematic of the same value. What a terrific teammate and great ball player. A joy to watch.
As a longtime Mets fan, it is so good to see Gary Carter finish his MLB career on such a high note. He was such an awesome. classy player.
My favorite baseball game Ever!
Anyone else tearing up watching this? RIP kid!
YES!!!
Yes, this is one of the best moment in Expos' history.
Yes
Yes me
This guy.
The Kid was one of the greats. He embodied all the great things about baseball. We lost him way too soon. ❤
Every time I see this, I tear up. I had the goo9d fortune to be at this game in Montreal. One to never forget. RIP Kid.
Me too, and I'm a young guy of 70!!
That's my very best moment in sport!!
Me too. This video is why I love teams like Montreal and Kansas City. The spirit shown there and the fan support in both good and bad times is totally organic.
I loved him. He was always so positive & happy.
This guy was my role model all thru the 80's. Breaks my heart
Me, too. I was a 9-year-old Mets fan in 1986 and Carter was my hero. He would have been the MVP if he didn't miss 3 weeks with a broken thumb.
Remember him on This Week in Baseball. He was the best
Named my first son after Gary Carter. Was also my role model and hero.
One of the best catchers of all time no doubt about it.
I'm a life Mets fan but sure miss the Montreal Expos.
Funny, I had to become a Mets fan since the Expos left ;p. I grew up watching the 86 Mets winning as a young boy, and Carter was catching when they won.
I'm a Red Sox fan, and I have a Montreal Expos jersey. Never forget the Expos.
Loved that team.
I’m a Mets fan too I used to like Vladimir Guerrero a lot

Neil Allen. St. Louis Cardinals.
Always loved Gary Carter. Class Gentleman and a True Champion.
Carter hit a double over Andre Dawson and drove Larry Walker home. Passing the torch from 2 Expo icons to the next Expo icon.

Why not minor league team?
@@dalepeto9620 Yes Dale that could be an option, thanks for that proposal.
What a wonderful person, and a great player. So beautiful to see him so happy but so sad to have lost him so young.
I get goosebumps watching this.... Hope they'll be back one day....

Wow! That was really great stuff. Thanks for being a Met. Baseball needs more people like Gary Carter.
One of the best, brings tears to your eyes. Right over Dawson's (former teammate) head.
Kinda fitting that he doubled over Andre Dawson's head. They were the heart and soul of those young Expos teams in the late 70's/early 80's.
Rest in Peace Gary thanks for everything for Montreal Expos, NY Mets and MLB
R.I.P Gary Carter :'(
i always loved gary carter class act. i so miss him and these great ole days ballplayers who played for the love of the game. genuine.
The only Expos game I ever attended in person. Gary Carter was my favourite player growing up and to not only see his last game but hit the only RBI in the game off of that year's Cy Young winner and over the head of Andre Dawson... I mean, how could that ever be topped?
He got the hit off Mike Morgan, not Greg Maddux.
My favorite Mets player! And I'm a Yankees fan! Love "The Kid!" RIP!
I love Aaron Judge and I am a Mets fan
1 of the best catchers such a class act fantastic moment R.I.P GC....baseball is fantastic
Sheer joy, the player and the fans. Will we ever see a scene like that again in baseball?
He was truly great.
10 years!! we miss you Kid!!
I was there that day... Gary was my all time favorite players, I wear #8 playing catcher in my youth and proud.
The Kid...such a rare breed in baseball or in any sport. So sorely missed.........
Amazing how Carter ended both his Montreal and New York career with doubles. No, Harry, he didn't earn it, he DESERVED IT.
Your desserts are what you earn dummy. They can't be bought or stolen.
No! He earned the applause with a great career. Your comment is stupid!
Carter was my hero...I remember watching it on WGN in Oregon when he hit it, and drove my step-dad crazy forcing him to come down stairs to watch his final at-bat.

Even Harry Caray (cubs announcer) got caught up in the moment.
As a Jays fan I wish the expos was still a team
Wow, what an emotional moment. RIP Kid.
The man was a winner thank you kid from a met fan
If this doesn't give you goosebumps you're not human
Gary Edmund Carter (April 8,1954-February 16,2012)was ONE GREAT MAN!
I missvtge Expos! What a team they had in the early/mid 90's!
I always loved him on the Mets... Great to see him end his career on this hit!
Dawson got a slow start . Gotta love the Kid. He had some big hits in his career. He was a great guy.
I still can't believe Gary is gone.
The great Harry Carey!
this deserves more views
I miss the Expos and hearing the crowd at Olympic Stadium.
The best way to go out on top. Game winning hit in your last at-bat. Awesome!
New York loves Gary the kid Carter #1986

Anybody that says the Montreal was not a baseball city needs to watch this video. Montreal cares about baseball. Baseball didnt care about Montreal.
Sean McLaughlin FACTS
RIP Harry & Gary
3 HOFers directly involved in this one play...wow...
no matter how many times i watch this, i get choked up every time - yay for gary carter!
What a great clip. The Kid left us too soon.
The kid missed us, RIP Gary Edmund Carter!
I agree Montreal should never have lost the Expos and they deserve another shot at major league team.
Same here. The fans want major league baseball back in Montreal pretty badly....the exhibition games they play there with the Blue Jays are sellouts.
Hardly anyone showed up in the last few years. It was inevitable that they would leave because the city didn't give enough support to the team.
The crowds were so bad that they played several home games in Puerto Rico.

Just more mlb shenanigans. Pathetic really
He really was a great player.
One of the greatest retirements of all time....
I'll always think of Carter as an Expo.
Love ya, Kid. Way to go.
Called by the Great Harry Carey.
The pinch runner, Tim Laker, was supposed to be the Expos' future behind the plate. That didn't happened, unfortunately...
Pure class.
Wonderful human being.
Never knew this was how Gary Carter ended his career. What an awesome moment.
R.I.P. Kid.
Longtime former teammate Andre Dawson seemed to have a little trouble judging that one.
over Dawson too :) ,man i loved that club, rip Kid rip expo's :(
the hawk almost had it.
What a difference in announcing styles. Vin Scully, who knew the power of silence, and Harry Carey, to whom silence was a void that had to be filled. -mikenotpaula.
Gary Carter threw the ball above 2B Ryan Sandberg and former Expo RF Andre Dawson. Larry Walker scored on this double.
All four are in the HOF.
Nacho helmet too! Helluva ballplayer!
Lifelong Cubs fan but man do I miss the Expos organization.
Notre équipe nous manque

Having a little problem with my screen. It seems to be getting a little misty.
Muy Fino Caballo !!
I loved theKid' My Fav'
Would've also heard Dave van Horne's call here. Still, Harry Caray and Steve Stone will do.
🐐
No, YOU have watched this ten thousand times.
I don't know much about Gary Carter or the 90's Expos, but this video for reasons unknown still give me feels
He was a very good solid baseball players and catcher. Strong defensive skill set. Strong fundamentals.
I had something to say - but all these comments say it all - loved Carter #8
RIP, Kid!
I forgot. who'd he go into the Hall as?
Chalk Bunt as an Expo
As did Dawson. His first choice was Cubs, but the Wade Boggs Rule had taken effect by then.
Mets would not have won a world series without Gary Carter
Take a bow Gary.
what a happy video!
Andre Dawson in RF?
Yup
Bring back the Expos
God Bless
Good man and very professional, and a Christian man. He's in heaven..
I paid a scalper $150 to see this game with my girlfriend, It was worth every penny!.
