    What area of social work practice are you interested in, if you want to become a social worker, or what field are you currently working in if you are a practicing social worker?

      @@emanvincent7072 Macro social work is in areas that incorporate research, program and policy development, advocacy etc. So you would look out for jobs that have a focus on these areas and also require a social work or social science qualification. I hope this helps.

      Hi Chioma
      I want to apply as an international student for social work qualifying. But the agent says I cannot as my first degree is not related to it.
      This is confusing because this not what I know from the research I made.
      Kindly advise me on this.

    Hi Chioma, I have experience around most of these areas of practice, however, mine comes under public health, can I do an RPL to get a Social worker license?

    • @lifewithchioma
      @lifewithchioma  2 года назад +2

      Hi Juliet,
      I understand that you may be able to get a minimum of 25% credit from previous study in a relevant field toward a social work qualification. I reckon you would still have to complete a social work specific qualification though, to qualify as a Social Worker. You can read more about RPL here www.aasw.asn.au/document/item/3554.
      Hope this helps.

    • @EnglishPrepClass
      @EnglishPrepClass 2 года назад

      @@uwakweblessedtv RPL means Recognition of prior learning. Here in Australia, you can turn in your overseas certificate or work experience to get a certificate closely related to what you need here in Australia.

      Hospital and Medical Social worker in the Australian context are basically the same. A mental health social worker is specially qualified to assess and treat mental health conditions

    I am applying for July 2022 MSW course in Australia, is it difficult to find a social work job in small towns?

    • @lifewithchioma

      Hi Ancy, goodluck with your application. The job pool might be smaller in low population areas for obvious reasons, but you can still find a job. Please research the area you're considering properly beforehand

    I planned joining my wife in Australia via Student dependent visa by February. She is currently doing her Master of research in Griffith University.
    I'm a Nigeria trained veterinarian (Vet.Doc), I hope to get a casual Job before switching towards my field of career. Any random or general advice for me?

    • @lifewithchioma
      @lifewithchioma  2 года назад

      Casual jobs are in abundance, but don't get too comfortable even if the pay is good. Start working toward your long term goals and upskilling toward transitioning back into your career as soon as you arrive (online courses, or just general professional development courses are a good place to start as well as networking). Best of luck

      @@lifewithchioma Actually, I'm a Vet Doc., but I'm not licensed to practice there until I sit for their professional exams.
      Though, I am currently into business in Nigeria; sales of veterinary drugs in the north.
      So, I think working as a sales rep , Support work or anything that earn me more would be fine, if I'm able to raised reasonable amount, I will apply for my masters programs as well.
      Please, give a guide or advice!

      You can apply to schools that offer the social work course here. You may be required to complete a bridging course (diploma) before commencing a master of social work. If you are interested in A bachelor of Social work, you can apply directly into the program. Here are accredited social work courses/schools in Australia www.aasw.asn.au/careers-study/accredited-courses
