Avoid This Airport In India 🇮🇳

- I will show you my honest first impressions of India. From Sri Lanka I booked a flight to Chennai in India's South (Tamil Nadu area). I have never struggled so much when arriving to any other countries so far. First I did not get any sim-card for my phone, so I could not search a hotel. Furthermore the ATMs also did not work the way I expected. On the other hand I had so much fun with local Indian people that I randomly met on the streets or in the metro. And of course I had to try delicious Indian street food. I still did not stop eating, even though after 5 hours I still had my suitcase with me and I still couldn't get a sim-card. Watch this video until the end if you've never been to India. and you'll know how India is like and how you can prepare yourself in a better way than I did.
And why should you avoid Chennai Airport? In my opinion, that's a bad choice to enter India. You will need a Sim-Card and there's NO SIMCARD AT THE AIRPORT!!! That's a big joke for any tourists who want to spend their holidays in India. Why is it possible that Delhi and Mumbai Airport have Simcard Stands that you see immediately after leaving the airplane? With plenty of foreigners buying a Simcard?! I don't know why they don't sell SimCards in Chennai, but if it doesn't matter to you to land in Chennai, Mumbai or Delhi, then don't choose Chennai. Also in the city the 2 big Simcard Companies don't sell you any Simcards, because you need a permanent residency and some Indian documents which foreigners just don't have. So I had to 'bribe' some locals to arrange an Airtel Simcard for me. Great, right? No, I don't like to break the rules, but if you have less choices, you actively try to find a solution.

📍LOCATION
Chennai (India 🇮🇳)
What I would have changed if I knew it before:
Bringing a foreign currency to exchange against Indian Rupees in the exchange office or probably withdrawing less money at the ATM. Booking a hotel in advance via Booking or Agoda is actually not an option for me. It might still be fully booked when I arrive, the Wifi is bad or not existent or the traffic on the street is loud. So I would have most likely gone to a nearby place to eat and using my hotspot to make sure in which area I wanted to find a hotel. Then taking the metro or local taxi and going to that area and on the way trying to buy a local sim-card from a small seller who sits under an umbrella beside the street (in case he doesn't ask for the same requirements like the bigger stores). But travelling also means learning. And without these issues I maybe wouldn't be aware of that thing like that can happen in other countries too. So now I can prepare myself better before / while I travel to other countries. And the bonus: I was able to film a long vlog, showing you my real first experiences of India. I had so much fun, even though I got a bit exhausted from walking, waiting and not to know what would happen next. Eventually I got a sim-card one day later and my hotel is pretty nice too.
Ohhhh 😮 I'm really sorry bro I don't know you choice to go India
Maybe If I know before you go to India I will advise you to choose Nepal Indonesia Philippines that's a beautiful country

I have one question ❓ please ☺️ what you think India better our Srilanka I know India cheeper in Srilanka everything expensive 🫰 because you know the situation in Srilanka
Anyway Mr. Carlos enjoy your Jenny 😊 I'm always with you 😘 I have many likes for you don't forget 🫰🫰🫰
Perhaps it would be better for you to do some research on the internet before flying to India, especially to the southern part. I was also surprised and wondered why there were no SIM cards sold at Indian airports, whereas in some vlogs I watched, there were many available. It turns out you flew directly to the southern part of India, where the conditions are slightly different from the more modern and advanced northern part, where it's easier to get facilities. But that's how traveling goes, sometimes it doesn't meet expectations. The most important thing is always to carry cash, no matter what the conditions are. hope you enjoy your trip in India.
You're totally right! At least having some cash, whatever currency it is, is always a good idea. And as you said, traveling means to learn too @@bug_on_internet

I just found your videos, and you remind me a lot of myself with your generosity. It sucks not feeling like you don’t want to help because it feels like you’re feeding into the problem but it’s hard not to when you know how much better you might have it over someone else. You’re a great dude from what I can see. It’s a great thing to just be kind and spread love.
When Tamil people listen to his english ZIM card they are like "adangommala"

Thanks for your support bro 🙂
I am so proud of you as mentions about sri lanka

WHAT MAKES ME FRUSTRATED IS THIS GUY WANTS TO FIND A CARD AND AN ATM HE GETS DISTRACTED AND GOES ON AND DO OTHER THINGS AND NOT STAY ON TASK!!!!!😡
Yep. He is lost and that's kinda frustrating. He believes JIO is best as compared to Airtel and Indians are totally weird at times to ask for his local ID proof to a German tourist. Language barrier is huge.
You sound as if you got some serious issues going on. So what if he easily gets distracted 🤔
He gives a true scenario of a single traveller.
Why is it a problem.
It's nice to know. How it is .
It wouldn't be practical for those going with family ofcourse.
But he's a nice guy
I am frustrated that you are an Indian and I need to call myself an Indian because I was born here unfortunately. Life is not fair. I have a very simple cure for your frustration, hopefully you know that.

I faced the same problem in India. It's very difficult to purchase a Sim Card for a foreigner.. Lots of conditions are there.. Even the staff is not friendly for the foreigners 😢
I think they were friendly. And I think there are some easier solutions for foreigners to get a sim.card
Exactly. Most of them can't speak English
@@WildCARLOSappeared No way for a foreigner to get a SIM card in India. I have been living in India for the past three months and only managed to purchase it with the help of a local who registered it under his name. I guess their regulations are very stringent as the population is very large. Overall, they are a friendly lot but many of them speak little or no English.
It is not because they are unfriendly. The reason they appear unfriendly is because they speak little or no English and are unable to respond in a clear manner.
Will u guys speak English in Germany ??? I felt the same when I entered Germany with none of them speak English…
That man feeding the cats & dogs is such a welcome change 😊
is SIM card now ZIM card.
It is thincard in Germany.
And metro, metghro
I have traveled to many parts of India, but unfortunately, I had the worst experience with rickshaws in Chennai. They always overcharge. For example, Uber showed a fare of 350, but a local rickshaw charged me 600. I could have taken the Uber, but the wait time was too long. I have some of the nicest friends in Chennai, and everything else is great except for the rickshaw drivers.
Always try to ask friendly locals for real price and not tourist price
You gotta ask the REAL price. Sadly, many parts in India this kind of scam happens. The economy here is weak as heck! If you ask a local, they'll tell you which one is a scam and which isn't. Most chennai people are chill af.
The same happened for me in Bengaluru and Kolkata Airports. But I denied those rides and found a driver who was ready for a similar amount through Ola. They sense a different language person some may want to take a better chance to make more money. It happens in every Indian city.
Watching this video and seeing this guy, navigate a very modern airport is painful to watch
I’m so pleased you’ve moved on to India. I didn’t get the feeling you connected as well in Sri Lanka

I have travelled to a lot of countries, as I land there are no network or you dont have cash when you land. The point is to FOCUS on what you need......you dont need a zim card or cash. You need to find the safest and fastest way to go to your hotel..after a rest and food, everything else can be figured out.
Get a wifi hotspot and book an uber, and get to the hotel.
Being foolish cost time, money and stress.
Also, find a bank outlet.
I am going to India end of April. I already have Indian money from previous trip, but more importantly I have bought a e-sim ready for when I arrive in to India
Wish you a lot of fun in India! ☺️ By the way, when I arrived on Mumbai airport, there were some mobile provider stands and foreigners got their sim-cards. So it depends on the location if you're lucky or if you're unlucky like me 🙏🏼
It's relaxed no taxi drivers asking 👍 1 minute later WHERE ARE YOU GOING!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Hahaha at least you have the opportunity to grab a taxi right away ☺️
Avoiding taxi drivers was the biggest mistake. You should have let them take to the city centre where you can find ATM as well as the sim card.
True. But I would have bought a simcard from a local street seller. I didn't get a simcard in the stores. Had to 'bribe' some local youngsters to register a card on their names for me.
Hey hun why didn’t your book a hotel before landing in India instead of finding a hotel after you landed at least the hassle would’ve been wayyy lesser than this and for the Sims card you could have loved your whatever the card you were using on data roaming base extended for 5 days maximum until you get the Sim card you’re looking for..? Anyways stay safe and happy travel! ✨
ATM HERE IN INDIA will only dispense max 10,000 at once so if you pls next time while visiting try taking 10,000 for each transaction .
It shows you were totally unprepared and unplanned trip...
It's difficult foreigners to get sim card in India. BTW it's sim card bro not zim card.. People will not understand if you tell it zim card
I pronounce it how Germans do 😁 But now after all I succeeded getting a local sim-card 💪🏽
You are so kind. So glad i came across your channel. Have a great stay in India. Have a wonderful trip ❤️
Glad that you like the video! Have a wonderful evening ☺
Try Adayar ananda bhavan for masala dosa, pongal, lunch thali etc. The ATMs dont say that the maximum amount is Rs. 10000, instead it just says enter smaller amount. Strange that the banks wont fix it, as it is a headache for customers. Getting a SIM should be as easy as other counties, India needs to improve. It is good that you stayed positive when things were difficult, which actually helped you find that hotel.

Welcome to India tamilnadu brother 🙏🙏🙏
Common sense - use your roaming for a day until you sort yourself out. It would have saved you a whole load of pain and time.
So scary, people harassing as you arrive. Sickening
Next time, regardless of the country, get an eSim for that country before you go. You'll have Internet the moment you land...
Travel tip: Book your room before leaving so you have a hotel to go to from the airport/ Then if no SIM card is available at the airport take a pre-paid taxi to your hotel and use the hotel's internet to find a Airtel SIM shop on google map and look at the reviews for one with good service. Note not all Airtel shops do tourist SIMs. Also you might need a reference so ask the Hotel for a name and phone number. That's what I had to do and a guy from the hotel went with me. Yes it's a pain getting a SIM in India, E=Sim is great if your phone supports it.

After taking a long journey by the plan for many hours but you have to still figure out the new country that u have never visit before while bringing a big suitcase when u're really tired 😓🙈😅Perhaps it would be better for you to do some research on the internet or seeking informations in the wide ranges in any articles or asking for information to your friends who had been to South India before flying to India, especially to the southern part.
