“Come what may” Moulin Rouge!
Hot take, in a crowd of thousands from Anastasia I thought was so beautiful for a love song it brought me to tears first time I heard it
Collins and Angel have the purest relationship in the entire musical. It's heartbreaking that it ends so tragically for them both. 💔😭
Love I’ll cover you and the reprise at angels funeral is the best and seasons of love is the best top three would be I’ll cover you , seasons of love and la vie Boheme
We played I'll Cover You at our wedding and I'll play the Reprise at my funeral
Something Good, The Sound of Music
"As Long As You’re Mine" from Wicked
That's more horny than romantic, imo. Freaking love it though, such a great song!
I kinda wish As Long As Your Mine from Wicked was on this list. It’s very bittersweet but it’s so passionate and beautiful
"People Will Say We're in Love" from Oklahoma. You never forget your first romantic Broadway song 💓
“I Don’t Know How To Love Him” from “Jesus Christ Superstar” deserves a mention. During this number, Mary Magdalene contemplates her unrequited love for Jesus Christ.
It’s her saying that she has to find a different way to love him as he’s not your ordinary man yet has moments of it so it’s her saying I’m scared and I don’t know how to live in a spiritual way but that’s what I’m learning to do
If Ever I Would Leave You--Camelot
"Suddenly Seymour" is a beautiful moment of hope in an otherwise dark musical. I remember doing this production with my loyal community theatre, and our Seymour and Audrey knocking it out of the park every single time.
All I’ve Ever Known - Hadestown
As Long As You’re Mine - Wicked
Can’t argue with that song from Hadestown
I do think Being Alive from Company deserves to be on the list
I was thinking Wedding Song from Hadestown, but All I've Ever Known has the line "I knew you before we met, and I don't even know you yet," so, yes.
As long as your mine is my favourite love song. E+F💚
Some Enchanted Evening is so incredibly beautiful and magical….It truly sounds “enchanted”
Everytime I hear "Till There Was You", I know love is real. 😊
Not even a BIT ashamed that I know all of theese songs! ❤
“You must love me” from the move Evita is really beautiful
I'm surprised "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge didn't make it on there.
“‘Til Then” and “He plays the Violin” from 1776 😊
Not "Written in the Stars" from Aida?
On my Own always makes me cry as does the reprise of "I'll Cover You" from Rent...all great choices on this list! 🥰
Last Night of the World from Miss Saigon should have been in the list
“If Ever I Would Leave You” from Camelot is in my top 5.
The inclusion of Unexpected Song surprised me. I was first introduced to the song when I was a senior in high school. Our choir sang it and I absolutely loved performing it. It doesn't ever seem to make lists like these because it was from a rather obscure ALW show.
Last night of the world and Sun and Moon miss Saigon ?
Here’s a couple more-
Everything to Win- Anastasia
More Than I Am
How I Am
Small Umbrella in the Rain- Little Women
Underrated musicals in my opinion!
Wonderful selections. I'd move some of the songs in last positions to earlier positions and, as much as I love Rent, I'd list its song as #10 in this group.
How about a top ten of unrequited love songs? (Maybe "As Long As He Needs Me," and "I Don't Know How To Love Him," or "On the Street Where You Live"?)
Great idea!
“Suddenly Seymour” is my romantic song pick (as it sometimes I sing it for fun)
The Winner Takes It All
"Mamma Mia!" 🏖
Awesome 🤩
One Hand One Heart was my wedding song. My brother sang as we had our first dance.
To me , it's "Unexpected song" Happy sunday morning, Emily. Take care and God bless you. Greetings from Colombia to you as well.
"West Side Story" is the most beautiful musical score ever written. ❤
We Kiss in a Shadow belongs here over On My Own. It’s very romantic and beautiful. The story of its composition is really beautiful too.
What about "Song on the Sand" from La Cage Aux Folles??
What about "He Plays the Violin" from 1776? I also agree with an earlier comment that "That Would Be Enough" from Hamilton definitely deserves to be on this list.
Some enchanted evening absolutely yes. The most beautiful love song ever.
There’s a few others I can think of:
.A Million Miles Away from Aladdin the Musical
.That would be enough from Hamilton
.I don’t know how to love him from Jesus Christ Superstar
Scarlet Pimpernel - When I Look At You
all i’ve ever known from hadestown
as long as your mine from wicked
the ball from great comet of 1812
In 1996 I decided to change careers and began studying for a master's degree at a local university. I usually arrived early for classes and hung out in a student lounge. Throughout the semester I occasionally chatted with another student and realized that I wanted to ask her out on a date. 8 months later we danced to a recording of Some Enchanted Evening at our wedding.
Regarding On the Street Where You Live, It seems to me that the song describes the actions of someone who would now be regarded as a stalker, and if My Fair Lady was written today, I do not believe the song would be in the show.
Let’s face it .With so many wonderful shows and songs the list could go on and on.And there is always that special song that first made you love musical theater. The first musical I saw was the Music Man.And when she sung Goodnight My Someone I first thought about romantic love.Believing in the possibility of love even though you hadn’t met that someone yet.But I would have put some of the newer songs higher on the list too.
Also Till there was you from Music Man is incredible 🥰
Somewhere is a pretty song, but I One Hand, One Heart is just gorgeous.
"One Second and a Million Miles" from "The Bridges of Madison County" has been egregiously omitted from this list.
hello young lovers - the king and i
make believe - show boat
something good - the sound of music
last night of the world - miss saigon
Hopelessly Devoted to You. You can feel Sandy’s pain and optimism.
Agreed, anyone who's ever been burned in love can relate to Sandy's heartbreak.
Yeah, it's a great song, unfortunately it wasn't in the original Broadway show. It was written for the movie (by ONJ's longtime producer and songwriter, John Farrar). It has appeared in several stage revivals but it's not really a "romantic Broadway song."
@@josephwest124I had no idea. I thought the song was in the Broadway version.
Almost paradise in footloose
My top romantic song is "Still" from Titanic! I also think you missed the boat with Falsettos. "What Would I Do" is the most romantic znd beautiful from that show, though I understand it's a different situation. But great list! Thanks!
Hey can you do a video of scrapped stage plays
As Long As You're Mine, from Wicked ...
Westside story is my number one from this list
A Heart Full of Love from Les Miserable should definitely be on here! I could also make a case for It's Quiet Uptown from Hamilton, because although the song is about forgiveness, Eliza forgives Alexander because of her love for him.
I think Enchantment Passing Through, Elaborate Lives and or Written in the Stars from Aida deserve at least a mention
What about “The Next Ten Minutes” from The Last 5 Years. It’s a deut between Cathy and Jamie.
Phantom of the opera better be on the list
Sweeney Todd is my favorite show and I was very happy to see Johanna on this list. Also very happy to see Till There Was You since I am currently in a high school production of the Music Man. One that I would’ve loved to see is Let’s Live Before We Die from the Addams Family (the reuniting dance sequence between Gomez and Morticia) I am currently in a production of Addams and that song is amazing.
all I've ever known - Hadestown
If Ever I Would Leave You from Camelot.
The Origin of Love from Hedwig.
What about Hopelessly Devoted to You and Sandy from Grease?
One of my favorites is Make Me Happy from 35mm. Yes, it’s a bit aggressive, as well as sung between two people who might have some issues, but it’s a damn good song.
I don't know why I'm disappointed "Marry Me A Little" isn't on this list. I guess it's not a romantic song able a particular person, unlike the rest of the list. I just love that song.
Unmentioned:
Til I hear you sing.
The Anastasia omission is criminal.
I was hoping Miss Saigon's
"Sun and Moon" and "Last Night of the World" would be included
you have one of the most epic (pun entirely intended) love stories in literary tradition on Broadway rn!! Hadestown's plot is literally to write a love song that can bring the world back into tune. Wedding Song, All I've Ever Known, and Promises all are way more romantic than some of these (also Wait for Me, Flowers, and Epic III can make the cut). And where's Pierre and Natasha and In a Crowd of Thousands?????
I know it's one-sided, but I was expecting "My man" from "Funny girl".
Younger Than Springtime
no Jekyyl and Hyde songs? no If somone like you?
Since everything here is a duet--or at least in two parts, I guess "I Won't Send Roses" from "Mack and Mabel" is out. But you missed "Bess, You is my Woman Now" from "Porgy and Bess", where both Porgy and Bess are finding their happiness in the other's happiness.
Brigadoon's "Heather on the Hill" or "Come Home to Bonnie Jean"
Hey only Shirley Jones and Joel MCcray can only do the Carousel musical
Too Much in Love to Care" from Sunset Boulevard. Its all the more tragic because you know they wont it.

The most romantic Broadway song is at #9… make it make sense
I had the same exact thought
Hard pass on If I Loved You. It's the beginning of an abusive relationship. But I despise Carousel so I can't be objective about it
Only Us from Dear Evan Hansen not being included seems criminal
Es wird immer das Phantom der Oper sein. Aber nicht die Liebe zwischen Raoul und Christine, sondern die Beziehung zwischen dem Phantom und Christine.
I’m sorry did you say “romantic” or “absolutely depressingly painful” for this list???
Why do you hate Jason Robert Brown? He's never on any of your lists.
Why do I like theatre murderers so much??? First Erik (Phantom), then Seymour... I think this is my toxic trait
“Music of the Night” from The Phantom of the Opera, “Til I Hear You Sing” and “Beneath a Moonless Sky” from Love Never Dies.
I swear RUclips is trying to be the worst platform whose moderation can't do sh+t about the porn bots that comment every time they make a video
