    Well it's been over a year since we hoped to have this track video loaded up for you guys to check out, so here you go! If you're after our thoughts on general performance in the various snow conditions we get here in Northern Ontario, or just sitting back with a drink of your preference and looking for some cheap entertainment, it should be worth the wait. This is an owner's review, so we are happy to answer any further questions you may have. Just fire some comments in below!
    The Camso X4S track set designed for 400-700 cc machines (2 up max), works very well paired to the Honda Pioneer 520 and Honda Pioneer 500. Here we discover some limitations to this side-by-side track snow rig setup, show you some of our snow groomed trails (track packed trails) blaze across the open snowy plains, and just generally yammer on a bit. Who doesn't like a good shop talk session anyway? What a way to make a Side-by-side year round worthy in those winter climates! Well done Camso.

    Nice commentary and video. I'm looking to buy a SXS and this Honda 520 is leading the way so far. I like the fact that it can fit in a truck, I'm in SE Texas and will never need snow tracks but I watched from start to finish.

      Glad you enjoyed the vid. I guess you sure don’t get much snow in Texas. We haven’t put our tracks on yet this season. The rain is putting the damper on things. Thanks for watching!!

      Glad you could find the video useful. We have since added a locking front differential, and will be adding power steering. This really transforms how the machine performs, but at added cost for sure. Thanks for watching!!

    Your videos are great. I bought a Pioneer 520 earlier this year after watching a bunch of your videos. I've only got 50 miles on it but having a few issues unfortunately. For one, the alignment is way off. Shouldn't be a big deal to fix, I just haven't done it yet. Other thing is that it sometimes wants to stall when I'm getting it going. I will get up to between 8 and 12 mph and it will just lose all power for a moment or two. Sometimes this happens repeatedly. When I get it above that speed it seems okay, and even after warming it all up it's still liable to have that issue as I'm going down my dirt road. I am not sure what to do about that. The dealer is quite a ways away and I don't own a trailer, but I will get it in there eventually. Hopefully it's nothing major wrong with it. Anyways, really love your videos and explanations

      Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for watching! definitely need to get some more videos happening soon. Same ol busy summer getting in the way as usual!
      Sorry to hear you’re having a few issues! is it losing power while shifting?
      As for the alignment, ours is pulling slightly to the right, which hasn’t been enough to force me to adjust it, but I should take the time to do so. Nicks Yamaha Rmax came so badly out of alignment that one front tire was almost completely ruined in less than a month of mild use. Not sure if it’s just this crazy supply chain issue/lower quality of work, but annoying.

    I put tracks on a Pioneer 500, Camso UTV 4S1 series for purposes of land survey work in Minnesota. Absolutely love it; however, with that said, we have had several welds break on the frame of the machine as it was not designed to handle the torque. The gauge thickness of the metal that makes up the machine is too thin and we have had to reinforce it as we encounter weld failures. I stick with it because this machine is narrow and gets to places larger machines cannot without cutting tree/brush. The machine itself is Honda reliable, just wish they would beef up the frame to handle these tracks.

    • @ranchroadhomestead
      @ranchroadhomestead  Год назад

      Wow that's interesting, sorry to hear that. We will definitely have to keep an eye out for that. Is it happening in specific areas of the frame or all over?

    Thinkin seriously bout gettin a 520 in the next few years. See if I can make a deal with Bancroft or Petawawa? As far as tracks, the verdict is still out on that. Seen a lot a guys augered bad with them in the slush on the lakes around here the past few winters. Ice has been poor. And really have trouble gettin them out and thawing them out afterwards. No thanks. But as far as a putt around machine for the wife and I huntin partridge or gettin a deer out of the bush, hey it fits my purpose to a tee. What would one set you back now?

    • @ranchroadhomestead
      @ranchroadhomestead  8 месяцев назад +1

      I’m not sure what the out the door price is these days. On Hondas site they show the pioneer 520 at 16,000 plus taxes. And yes, the tracks are not the answer for everything unfortunately. Sure wouldn’t want to get stranded out on the lake in the slush that is for sure. The locking front differential we just added has made a big help! Thanks for watching!!

    Would not putting it in 4 wheel drive help the steering? This way the front tracks may (or will) pull the front end into the turn. Just a thought. I’m trading in for a CanAm, the 520 is a fine machine (with regards to reliability perhaps), however it lacks suspension compliance and storage versatility compared to most of its competition. Somewhat disappointed. Good vids though.

    • @ranchroadhomestead
      @ranchroadhomestead  2 года назад +1

      Just to be sure I know what you mean: are you suggesting 2wd or 4wd to help turning?
      Ah yes, surely the 520 is not the perfect machine for everyone. For us it is our choice for what we do and expect of it. There is room to improve with any machine of course. Since doing the glovebox mod, the feel of basic convenience has been corrected which was a huge oversight on Hondas part!
      Wish you well with your next rig, and thanks for watching!

    I added the Camso X4S tracks to my Pioneer 500 with TorqLocker- it really does great in snow. ruclips.net/video/HpVyRimC-no/видео.html - at the start of the video is a diversion ditch with a slant that would likely cause issues with an open front diff- it was effortless with the TorqLocker. Thanks so much for the video- it really helped with my decision. Next- power steering.

      Glad you liked our video. Power steering would be very nice w/tracks. We have had the torq locker in our track rig now since early February, and wow what a difference it makes to the performance with tracks now! So much more confidence. We will be posting that video when it's all edited. Happy riding and thanks for watching.

    Awesome video. However, I would never ever buy a UTV that didn’t have turf mode. Absolutely destroys lawns and rips up trails and by your accounts here it makes it very difficult to steer in the snow with tight turns.

    • @ranchroadhomestead
      @ranchroadhomestead  6 месяцев назад

      Glad you enjoyed, and good point. I'm not sure what other models there are for UTV's with open differential/turf mode in the same class as the Pioneer 520 if you require the compact size. We have had great success recently by adding the Torq Locker front differential and SuperATV power steering kit. You still have to throw the steering wheel from nearly lock to nearly lock in really tight trails, but its basically effortless now. The downside is tossing a bunch more money at a 'value' priced machine, but the outcome is really, really good. Thanks for watching!!
