I served my country for 10 years and can honestly say that NONE of us who are serving now or who have served care one bit that you're driving a JD tribute Gator. What we do care about is that you love and support the USA and are willing to fight for what's right, which you obviously do!

I begged my forest supervisor for one of those in Montana for opening and closing gates in the spring and fall but was told we didn't need one. They are so versatile in those weird Rocky Mountain climates where it will be warm and sunny on one side of the mountain but under three feet of snow on the shady side.

USMC veteran here. You can honor the military any way you like. They don't build these editions only for veterans. What I would like to know though, is does John Deere give any profit from the sale of these editions to a legit veteran aid company/ non-profit? Looks like fun to me, enjoy!

Great looking gator Tim, I can’t amagine anyone thinking that you wouldn’t honor and respect our veterans. I can see by watching your videos that you are an honorable and respectful person. Thanks for sharing another great video!!!

I have been running tracks on my quad bikes for nearly 18 years. First on 06 Polaris sportsman 800, now on 2021 sportsman xp 1000. Yes, same tracks on both machines. Made by same company, just was called camoplast when i got mine, and they are the 4s or four season. And i love them, especially out pushing snow with them. You won't regret them.

Having driven an older Gator with no doors and not many options, to that one...the differences are striking in many ways. It will be interesting to see how the tracks do!

As you know Tim, we don't usually get that much snow in Indiana. Otherwise I would have me a set of tracks for my 825i S4. Will be waiting to see this Gator in action in snow. Thanks for sharing.

Awesome rig! Would love to have one but a little out of my price range with the tracks! One thing I will mention with the tailgate and hitting the tracks, you would not want to drive the machine forward while dumping to clear a load out of the bed, which I do all the time. Looking forward to future video!

What a conversion to an already unique Gator. I’ve had my Honor Edition a little over a year, (thanks to a heads up from you) and really like it. The tire package option Deere calls “Predator Hard surface tire” in my opinion, appears to wear much better and are quieter and smoother on pavement than the off road tires. Tim, I think it’s great that you chose to use the Honor Edition to show your support for veterans and the military. Looking forward to seeing it take on the snow. Blessings to you and Christy.

Il have trackes like these for 10 years on a Kubota RTV900 (2006) and it is unstopable.
The trick to mount/unmount the wheels and the tracks is to take 2 x 3 inchs bolts with the same threads as the wheels bolts, cut the heads and replace 2 of the bolts on the hubs to give you temporary studs to hold the wheels/tracks while you work.
It makes the operation much easyer.

I would suggest lifting the gator higher and using furniture dolly to move the tracks

  • @garycox7508

As the JD guys mentioned..it's "angle of attack", not "attack angle". It's a technical term taken (I assume) from aeronautics where it describes the angle between the centerline of the airfoil section to the incoming air stream. Since the tracks have adjustable angles in which they engage the ground in a similar fashion (front or rear "biased", as described in the video) and look a lot like airfoil sections...I guess that's where the engineers took inspiration from the aeronautical term for that adjustment. I'm probably being a little pedantic re: the mis-speaking of that term, but I have a degree in the field so it's a little triggering I suppose LOL. I'm sure if I tried to talk about data structures and overloaded methods...I'd mess it all up and you'd have a chance to return the favor :D. Great video as always, Tim...I had never seen something like this on a Gator so it was pretty interesting on many levels.

Hey Tim that looks neat for trails and such. I wonder if you intend to use a rear attachment / trailer hitch, the rear tracks may extend too far back and conflict with the hitch.

Would using slave pins in the rotor help you align the tracks/? Buy bolts to match the threads in the wheel. cut the heads off and then thread in the all thread into the wheel to let the track or wheel align and rest so you can thread in the bolts. Might help.
