    This is the kind of fluffy snow that is really deep and will get you stuck even with a snowmobile if you are not careful! Even if the Honda Rubicon is not the most powerful ATV, it can handle the deep stuff and a lot of work we do with it here on the land!

    Most extensive and well recorded video of a Honda on tracks. Really appreciate seeing the video.

    I guess it's the wide track surface area that prevents you from sinking. I suspect for most uses a snowmobile is a better solution, though.

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  2 года назад +3

      With tracks flottability is better since there is more than a single track. For speed a snowmobile is better but also requires more
      Maintenance!

      Snowmobiles are more of a toy and a Quad with tracks is more useful You live way back in the woods like me they are more useful

    To me it looks like not enough track footprint per weight load.
    Constantly digging too much and struggling to get up on top.

    How wide and long is the Honda with Camso tracks?

  • @johnsteiner9542
    @johnsteiner9542 2 года назад

    Would you do these tracks again? Or do you wish you had purchased a different brand? Do you feel these tracks suck too much power for the smaller single cylinder machines?? I’m on the fence of ordering a set of these for my Suzuki and would love an honest feedback. Thanks.

    I think I will get the exact same setup for work. Is that a 520 dct with power steering. Any problems with it ? Thanks

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  2 года назад +1

      there is a limit to everything. The power steering help, but i won't push it if it won't go. So problems with it: no, but it could be problematic on all machines since it's not a light setup and i can't imagine how heavy it can become when it's full of wet snow.

    Living in a place that easily gets 4 or 5 feet of accumulated snow and temperatures up to -40 degrees, I get anxious just watching this guy drive up these steep slopes.
    Will he make it? Or will he get stuck? In snow that deep he won't be able to walk back home, so he'll freeze to death before help arrives! Good thing the camera man is there to help him... or keep him company as they both freeze to death before help arrives.

      This is an odd comment, I'm pretty sure he is right next to his house, but even if he wasn't, all he would have to do is have snow shoes, water, a garmin inreach, and an emergency shelter/sleeping bag nearby. A snow machine can also get stuck out in snow that deep and the same applies. Its not about what equipment you are using, its about your emergency planning if that equipment fails and your backup equiptment.

    That's $4800 per track for a total of almost $20,000 for the four..........correct?

    How often is one expected to replace tracks? Do they wear similar to tires?

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  2 года назад +1

      Since we use them mostly in slow, wear is really slow. There is more danger for tear!

      @@CarQuestion thanks! Tempting but for half the price of the ATV itself, it becomes a value proposition! Lol like buying $40k tires for the $60k truck, you know what I mean? Lol

    Well I'm a city person so I have a city person question what the difference between this machine and a snow mobile

    • @CarQuestion
      @CarQuestion  2 года назад +3

      Snowmobiles have ski's in front and a single rubber track.
      An ATV comes on wheels, and we use a Camso Track Kit to replace the wheel with 4 tracks!
      This is more for work than the speed with that configuration, but traction and stability are more impressive with an ATV equipped with a track system.
      It's also a great way to use it all year long instead of having 2 différent machines and have more maintenance!
      A snowmobile will be way faster in the deep snow of a flat surface.
      Both are fun to drive!

      My buddy and I are planning on getting Kodiak 700 ES ATVs and having Camso X4S tracks. The difference is mostly not having to buy 4 machines between the two of us, one ATV and one snowmobile. The 700 can go all year.
      If you watch videos of people going up super steep and deep stuff above tree lines, they are running 1000 cc machines with huge tracks with long lugs (and carrying lots of extra gasoline). They can go where snowmobiles are going.
      That's not where we will go.
