    I agree with you on the Jinhao x159! I was surprised how comfortable it feels and my medium nib writes beautifully. My favorite pen is the Pilot Silvern with its large inlaid 18K gold nib. But buy it directly from Japan for a fraction of what US retailers have to sell it for.

      I will look into that, I love an inlaid nib!! Glad to hear you have the same experience with the Jinhao! They usually get a bad rap!

    I love to see honest videos like this! I don't have the budget for the expensive pens, so I'm happy to see that budget pens have ranked right up there for you. Many RUclipsrs view the Chinese pens as children's toys that are inherently inferior, even if they write incredibly well. If I had the money, I probably would treat myself to a fancier pen. But for me it's all about the writing experience, and I'm happy with my budget Jinhaos and Hongdians ... Both my x159 and 9019 have been awful, though (some of the few that have been), so maybe I'll give them another try with a Fine nib.

      Thank you so much! I enjoy honest if not brutally honest videos about pens. I mean let's me real! I really can't understand how a $10 can be better than a $350 pen but IT CAN!!! People need to have an open mind. I really think you should give the fine nibbed Jinhao's another chance- at least the ones with the #8 nib.

    Have a look at Private Reserve's, Avocado ink, for that jade color Intl. pocket pen. Glad to hear that Leonardo has a good repair facility. I have a lot of Italian pens and hear about many of these companies having horrible customer relations. Luckily I've never had any problems. I like the section on the Leonardo, it feels just a hair wider, it feels good. I gave that pen away as a birthday present, Nice pen. Yours looks beautiful. I think the rhodium looks better balanced than gold on that pen. Gold would give it too much bling.
    Have you had a look at Cypress Pens?

      @@HandmadebyLorelei my preferences seem to be directly linked to the size of the pen body. Maiora Aventus is the perfect size for me, followed by London Pen Co. C14 and Bonecrusher's Velma model. Benu Euphoria is good. I also get along well with the LeBoeuf Pilgrim and Monteverde Giant Sequoia (shorter body length but still a great size).

    thanks for the vid. Just ordered Pelikan Souverance M800 blue black arriving around Jan 23-26, you're number 1 (Leonardo Momento Grande is on my list especially their new in house nib), so as the Pilot 823 (but I might get the Grande first cause i already have the two Pilot E95s. Lately, I like pens with bigger ink capacity.

      You will NOT be disappointed with the Leonardo- any of them . I Have a Furore and a Momento zero Grande and they are both fantastic. I have also written with the Moments zero standard size, and it had a black coated nib that was SO SMOOTH and Nice!

    The pen you showed with bits of glitter in them are reminiscent of Benu pens. Have you ever seen or tried one? They are good writers as well as being dazzling. I have two Lamy 2000s, but I find them uncomfortable to. write with because my fingers tend to slip down the barrel close to the nib. Lately, Chinese FPs have improved substantially in quality, and I have been buying Hong Dians. The most expensive pen I own is an Aurora Dante Alighieri original release, the all green one, not the "Inferno" model with the red band on the barrel.

    • @HandmadebyLorelei
      @HandmadebyLorelei  7 месяцев назад

      I have seen Benu online a lot- I had one long time ago that I got from Truphae but it was Christmas themed and didn't have that really sparkly glitter. it was dull in comparison and I ended up selling it. I wondered if I would like the Lamy 2000 because I typically like really girthy pens but I haven't had any problems with the grip. I have some Jinhao 82s and then these X159s and 9019s. They've all been pretty great. I have a few Hong Dians with Long Blade nibs and they are nice but very heavy. both are metal bodies.

    I’m very surprised you picked 2 Jinhao for favorite. I only tried Jinhao 82 and it was not good… scartchy, dry, low nib quality consistency… Maybe Jinhao is better for bigger models?

      Me too, SO SURPRISED! I have several Jinhao 82s as well and love those too with the medium nibs. But those with the #8 nibs- the fine nibs are stellar. Also have a few with a Fude nib and those are great too! I
